Ban on Carolina Kostner Over

Not really, CODI used a gray area, but for WADA the punishment should be based in the old regulations

If you want effective anti-doping regulations then punish those at the top (national federation officials) not those at the bottom (athletes who don't dope and did nothing to actively aid anyone dope).

Otherwise you're supporting power mad little creeps.

Do you have proof that someone in the highers rants from Italian Federation of Athletics has anything to do with Alex Schwazer´s dopping? Or are you just talking generally.

And we don´t know (at least I don´t ) if CODI/WADA is preparing to proceed againts other people.

Anyway this is pretty normal as far as I can see, when a side appeal the other always has a recourse so that the court have both part to size on. This was one of the reason I didn´t want Carolina to appeal, most likely this will become a long circle of appeals and counter appeals. More publicity will be received and people that in the beggining didn´t even knew about the subject now will always look at Carolina and think in this mess.

Update:
According to the newspaper "Alto Adige" there will be a movie (RAI & Medusa Film, so if it's true it's going to be big) about the love relationship and doping drama concerning Schwazer and Kostner.
Schwazer has requested suspension from his doping ban. He also gave new evidence (again!) to the prosecuters. Currently he's training under Sandro Donati, who is supposed to be the no.1 fighter against doping (from what I've read) in Italy. He's also moved to Rome to train there, Carolina is also living there at the moment.
We'll know in about a month wether his request will be granted. &

Not a shock - in every sport there seems to be 1 rule when you get caught doping - rat & give them a bigger fish to fry. And many people have made that deal, that if they give the governing body/anti-doping agency (etc.) names of people that supplied their drugs or names of other athletes that they knew were doping then their suspension will be reduced.

my  :disapp: to mr. Schwazer
What a man he is........

I bet she is wondering why the same :drama:

Seems to me, the best thing for her would be to sit down with the head of the WADA/CONI and apologize for her 'erroneous' decision to lie for her boyfriend in the heat of the moment and work some deal for a fine or to greatly reduce her suspension, it's not like she is A-Rod and the public hates her; she needs to admit she did something wrong and sit down and discuss a way for everyone to walkaway with only a little egg on their face. Because the 'fighting' it is not working out too well, now there is rumor about them going after a longer suspension, and all this is doing is keeping her name in the news connected to doping.

I don't see it that way. Her goal must to get the conviction overturned and her chances are not too bad imho. I think we'll know about the CAS decision in 2 months at the latest. The suspension itself is the problem, it doesn't matter that she's risking to get it extended.

And yet she still chose to lie for him.
She really should have looked into her crystal ball and realized that he would turn out to be a backstabbing loser.

Look, in hindsight she's probably upset with herself for missing a few warning signs over the years. But in the moment she was in a serious relationship with the guy and had little reason to think badly of him. Obviously you think you would have done better than she did, but you have never been placed in that situation, so you can't say for certain.

 seriously I have a friend who owned me and other friends money and never paid back. He has known us for over 10 years, should we have looked into the crystal ball to know the so-called friend would never give our money back?

Or maybe that's why we never got back our money, because we're stupid. :drama: Heck is it wrong to trust someone you have been good friend for over 10 years? Is it hard to believe Caro trusted her ex?

It's not against the law to lend someone money.

It IS against the rules that Caro herself bound herself to lie to the drug testers to protect her boyfriend - and him asking her to lie should have been a massive warning flag.

How good or close a friendship could you have had? In ten years none of you saw any signs that this "friend" could be irresponsible and unreliable. No, nothing wrong in trusting someone, but betrayal is always a possibility unfortunately.

Carolina imo would do well to let sleeping dogs lie.

It's really easy for strangers on the internet to make comments like "Carolina should have known" or "she definitely had to have known" without having been a part of her and Schwazer's relationship. Could she have known? Maybe. No one knows for sure except for Carolina and Schwazer, and everyone here should keep that in mind before passing sweeping judgements about a relationship that they were not a part of.

But probably millions of people end up in not-so-great relationships where someone is lying, cheating, etc, and the other person has no idea. It's easy to say that someone should have known or had to have known what was going on in retrospect; and it can be quite a different thing in reality.

This. A little charitable kindness and compassionate understanding on our part can't hurt. Temper justice with mercy. Don't throw the first stone, or pile on when someone else does. That sort of thing.

Yes, by all means she should have flung that door wide open and said "There he is boys! His pee is all yours! Grab it before he tries to flush away the evidence!"

I'm sure that's what you would have done.
