Jason Brown

I was thinking that just now Doris - it looks like he might not need the quad for the free as much as for the short.
 
Dumb question for the day: has Jason gotten taller? I always thought Max was taller than Jason, and his height is listed at 173 cm (5'8") versus 170 (5'7") for Jason. When they stood next to each other on the podium, Jason looked at least an inch taller; the top of his head and his shoulders both seemed higher. Was it his shoes, my imagination, or has he grown a bit?
 
Actually I disagree. Jason can actually do a few more thing in the short, like put the 3a and/or 3f3t combo in the second half to get a few extra points.

Fwiw if he had the same TES from TEB with his pcs at WTT he would had been A few points higher.

The quad gap is more in the FS...as we saw at Worlds. Doing a 4t instead of one of his 2A passes would add like 7 points to his BV. (Assuming all his other passes stay the same).

The quadsters mess up things in the fs, so a perfect quadless fs can compete. OTOH, a lot of skaters can land one quad in an sp. I would put the quad in the sp and move the 3a to the second half, if he can do it.

But at Worlds, even I'd Jason did his program perfectly he'd still be like 10 points behind. And that was with all three medalists making errors.

I like Jason's suit here! :) wondering if they just got a whole bunch of skin care products ;) also regarding the height question, Han Yan height is also listed at 170cm and Jason looks a touch taller even with Han having a bit of height on shoes. So maybe Jason grew an inch. He is defiantly more broader in the shoulders...so that might creates a look of growth.

I'm so impressed by Kori and Jason's work this season. Jason said several times that the plan was to peak at Worlds, which he did (actually he seems to have peaked here, but Worlds wasn't far behind). However they ensured he did that, way to go to both! If they can keep him peaking at the end of the season but still deliver more consistently on the Grand Prix, he could be in for some great, great seasons.

That said, while I get the concept -- I felt the execution wasn't quite there. Don't know if this is a new program that will be carried over into next season or just sort of a one-time thing he's doing for fun.

We know he can do 1990s hip hop and skate to Prince, so it's not the genre I don't think...

Mainly...way too many different music cuts --- and there wasn't really anything to tie them all together. If he does it again, I'd like to see longer Usher, Beyonce and Kanye cuts and less of the other ones -- LMFAO didn't work IMO and the Tone Loc part was sort of wedged in there.

And yeah....wearing a Patrotic jumpsuit doesn't quite work with a hip-hop program. :slink: Sorry Jason, still love you though!

I agree + I don't like hip-hop. This not was a program, but only a joke (I hope it!). But Jason's energy and hair... super!

Well he just tweeted that he hopes we liked the new ex.

Not sure what they're thinking here. Love or hate the music, Cotton Eyed Joe is simply a much better constructed and skated program. This music was disjointed and draggy, some of the choreography looked lifted from Joe, and anyway the legs on that onesie were so huge you could barely see his line much less appreciate what he's doing. And as long as I'mvoicing my dismay, I will add that being a cute little yawning boy doesnt work for Nam but it is even worse for Jason.

I mean maybe skating so well here and at Worlds made him feel like he could take a risk but so far... :disapp:

I think it was a half-improvisation using the cheering costume of the USA team.

Okay, upon rewatch it wasn't as bad as I remembered.

The Good:

Jason literally and figuratively letting his hair down.

The spread eagle, the Russian splits :love:

The Bad:

The music - Noooo! Nothing against anyone who likes that type, it's just not my thing.

The onesie - I like Jason in the onesie, but not while skating.

I noticed throughout the season that each performance of Cotton Eye Joe was a little different so if he keeps the new EX for next season (please no :slink:), I suspect there will be adjustments made.
