Jason Brown

The Japanese in the tweet doesn't specify. The translation states program, singular, but that doesn't mean it's correct translation.

ETA: To answer another question, Jason states he can't reveal music yet, but says definitively it's not Phantom of the Opera.

One less skater to worry about having us lose our minds to POTO.

Oh thank god! I swear I should go into the music consulting business. Here, you use this. You use that. No, you cannot have Carmen or POTO. Temper tantrums will not help.

I really should send Rohene some ideas but I feel like its so presumptuous! ;)

Edited for stupid iphone auto correct!

I really really want to know about quads now!

And if he's only getting one new program I hope it's a new short but I fear it will not be. Oh well, at least he isn't wearing a patriotic onesie while skating to Juke.....

I have actually changed my mind RE: carrying over Juke. (Actually Doris P contributed to my conversion).

I don't think he can do Tristan and Islode any better than he did it at WTT. Getting 89 PCS and a 176+ score for that program -- I think that's as high as he'll get for that program.

While I thought he did the best he could with Juke at Nationals and Worlds, I think he doesn't have the character yet. I think Rohene might need to work on getting some blues grit in that program. I'm expecting that Juke will be re-choreographed (if it's indeed Juke he's keeping) and that perhaps we could see a similar transformation (or I hope?) to the one with the Prince program. I absolutely groaned to high heaven when I heard that he was keeping that program because I felt so awkward watching him skate that SP all season long....(the costume didn't help)....but obviously we all know how much people loved the senior version of it.

Speaking of Prince.....Mr. P now refers to Team Jason as Jason, Kori and Prince. Doris, he loves recalling that conversation you guys had in Boston about Rohene's ISI days....you must've had quite the conversation.

I don't know that there's much more they can do with Juke, either. My complaint about it has been the same from day one - the music is too flat, too one-note, too samey all the way through.

I would love to see Tristan et Iseult get a second season of development. Yes, his WTT performance was just about perfect, but if you're going to start adding in quads, why not start with the solid baseline of an already excellent program? Plus, we wuz robbed of seeing more of the darker pants style of the costume. :p

But I think the fact you (and others) think it's one-note and samey is probably an case that he hasn't quite captured the nuances of it yet.

I think Jason has managed to skate the skills to the beat properly and sell/perform it the best of his ability, but that's not the same as capturing full nuance or feel of the program. I feel like T&I he evoked a different style---and embraced the theme fully. I don't feel that way about Juke in hindsight.

Trust me I was on the T&I 2.0 train for quite some time and then Doris totally convinced me otherwise.

IN any case, we don't know for sure if he's definitely keeping a program---the only think we have to work off on is a bad Google translation that uses program in the singular. Hardly a confirmation of anything, LOL.

I think we will see two new programs.

The reason is, the next WTT is going to be leading into an Olympic season, and I suspect they will want two new programs for the Olympic season. So I think there is wisdom doing a trial run of sorts NOW to figure out what needs to happen to make that happen. Maybe taking classes that summer is a bad idea, better learn that this summer than summer of 2017. But learning two programs after an exhausting three trips to Asia in about 10 weeks, they will know he can do it under the most exhausting of circumstances. If they do two new programs for next season, then in 2017 I think they will have a much better idea of what they need to do to show up on the grand prix with two solid new programs to wow everyone with.

As for Hip Hop Mix. Well, I enjoyed seeing a less safe Jason. . . please god never do that routine in that outfit again.

I agree. Since he's definitely adding quads, it would make more sense to keep the long program so that he has less choreo to learn & get used to, basically. The muscle memory would already be there.

So I had a look at Statsonice, and in case anybody's interested:

Jason now has
3 out of the 6 US top scores for the SP (4. 5. and 6.)
3 out of the 6 US top scores for the LP (1. 4. and 6.)
2 out of the 6 US top total scores (1. and 6.)

Broadmoor Open is June 24-27. So we'll find out around then I guess, though I'm sure there will be a ton of teaser tweets and photos for at least a month before hand that will drive us all nuts.

ETA: Prior research shows we found out about Jason's 2012-2013 programs around June 12... and 2013-2014 programs on June 10 and this season's programs around June 22.

Also all possible dates for me to give birth. ;) (due date is 6.15)

So are you waiting more anxiously for the baby or the new program news? ;)

Seriously, how exciting that the baby is due so soon!

But getting back to the topic at hand I'm really curious as to whether it would be easier to add the quad to an existing revamped program or to start fresh.

I agree with Karne that the music for Juke is a bit dull and repetitive and I agree with you that he hasn't really given us a character. He's made huge strides with it physically and you can see he's having fun but like the music it's a bit one note.

While I love T&I especially with the new costume, I agree that he may not be able to to a lot more with it. Still, if familiarity makes it easier to incorporate the quads then it's fine with me if he keeps both!

Oh, drat... ;)

I'm so glad to hear Jason being so positive about the quads - it's good to hear that he is excited about them.:) I've never doubted that Jason will get the quad - never will... all in his own good time.:) Especially if he regards them with his wonted enthusiasm, as it sounds like he is.:)

I think T&I is a suitably dynamic program for a quad - the drama I think would only be enhanced by a quad.:)

As for Juke - I have no problem with Jason's skating. I've realised I actually enjoy watching that - even the dreaded "sprinkler" doesn't bother me (the fact that I actually have never even specifically noticed it probably has something to do with that;)) - but the music... I just don't enjoy it. At all. It's too... "screechy" is not the right word, but it is the closest I can think of at the nonce, I'm afraid. And I don't see what Jason could do more in his skating to change the sound of the program. I don't mind watching it - and the music doesn't make me "hate" it (it's not like Music of the Night - shudder!) - but... I can never look forward to it. When I do watch it, it's more a "Oh, this wasn't as bad as I remembered", which may be fine with a skater I'm not that fond of... But to not look forward to watching a program of Jason's... that's just sad for me.

absolutely! It is great to hear him talk about them with excitement and not fear. He is also usually very careful and thoughtful about what he says, so this level of openness, is likely a sign that his team feels comfortable with it.

I think it is looking like Kori knew exactly what she was doing all year long. She guided him to his first national title, his first quad attempt, fourth in the world his first attempt, and setting two records for his countries highest scores. And now he is talking about multi-quads with openness and comfort. Nice job! I think trying it at 4CC was what he needed, it seems to have cleared is mind. This is what you get when you can cultivate a truly close and understanding relationship over many years.

Yes! You said what I was thinking - and I did try to say, but I must be very tired, as it just turned into a sentence that ended up meandering into nothing, so I deleted it. So, a heartfelt thank you for that.:)

That's why I think it would be fun if he kept it and it became a program you would want to watch again and again!

:agree:

I do like he is saying with some certainty that it's coming.

We shall see what happens. Anyone want place bets on what will come out first: Word on Jason's programs, a video of a successful quad attempt or my baby?

(And just for the record, NO I am not naming my kid after Jason (if its a boy). )

The watching part isn't the problem, though... it's the listening... sigh...

Oh...maybe you'll love it so much you won't mind listening? Haha, eternal optimism on my part.

Anyway, we still don't know if they're keeping a program anyway....

I had no doubts that Kori set a schedule of progress for Jason. For Jason talking about the quad already is a wonderful sign how he was paced to get better. This will be fun to see for the upcoming season. I am so glad he has become a renowned spinner already among his peers.

What an exciting month it will be for you - new Jason programs and the arrival of Baby P!

It's possible the competition at Broadmoor Open will be beefed up this year, with the new big-prize jump competition.
