Jason Brown

Has the Jason Brown Riverdance viral video been taken off of YouTube? (This might be old news to everyone else but me.) I wanted to cite it for the paper I'm writing--and while I realize there are uploads of the same exact performance--I also wanted to cite how many views it has to demonstrate its popularity, and the other uploads don't have however many millions of views.

If it has been taken down, I can simply find an article about the original viral video and cite that, but if anyone can confirm for me that would be great .

Yes it was taken down quite some time ago. You can still find a copy of the same video - eg the NBC broadcast with Hamilton and Bezic commentating, posted by a different user:

But nothing showing the 4.5 million views unless maybe you can find a cached version.

I did a Google fusion table of the views. They go from the end of Nationals in January to mid March:

BTW, in case you are not aware: an excellent timeline on Storify at the time had documented the initial days of the original Jason Riverdance video going viral. (It's from one of your/our favorite JB authorities :) [I'm not referring to myself].)

This is so cool! Doris, when you have time, this would be a great addition to page 1!

This is awesome. The news links about it are perfect sources for my larger project so I can cite the affective responses to the video!

Tyler and Mariah play with the 7k "coaching board", posted here because of course Jason is all over it:

But also: how does this work? If the coaches are listed at the top, why do Rohene and Vincent (who I believe is also a coach) have cards? Just my silly question for the day...

And belated kudos to Mrs. P for the Storify article!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I had totally forgotten about that. I use it a lot of work (as you probably could see from the profile), so it was fun to use it for something that was not work-related. A lot of the people I included liked it too and shared it, so I think it got to people outside the figure skating fan base.

Hmm. You could be right. It strikes me that he's growing up and maybe he's starting to experiment with how he sees himself and wants others to see him. He definitely seems more confident. Did you see his tweets today? They present kind of a cool, independent Jason:

These are some of the first pics I've ever seen where he's solitary. It's not a bad thing. Quite interesting because it's so different.

I like that first photo with the shades-- yes, he usually is grinning from ear to ear, but this particular shot makes him look not so much a kid anymore. Kinda sad

First: though I've posted briefly on this thread before, I would just like the regulars to know I've been lurking here a while because I'm a huge fan of Jason. I'm SO enjoying the comments, analysis, gushing; thank you for all your enthusiasm, hard work, knowledge, insight.

Just an observation pertaining to alabhaois comment about Jason's photo being "bit sad". I hear you and initially felt the same way but then remembered something.
Sam Skwantch's remarkable remix video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2wKzC3jzXw4&rdm=1honej3cg&client=mv-google
of Jason's short and long program at Worlds revealed a sequence 3:15 -3:21 that took my breath away. Jason had just finished his short program; he looked up at the audience, smiled (the Jason most familiar -- the one we've come to know and love). He then looks down at the ice, then straight ahead "a different person" - so serious but strong. This look represents to me the maturity the substance behind the smile and should be celebrated. I'm still in awe...
