More than sure it will be a modern dance with some flamenco influences in it. I loved what Najarro did on Bjork music for that fashion presentation, so i hope it will be something exquisite with RusLena as well. Although i do not know how the judges will receive smth really original as i suppose their programme will be. Hope for the best.

Just happy that they are enjoying themselves. I like their attitude and focus; the future, no looking back. As to where the internal competition will be it's anyone's guess.

So I'm not familiar with Latin dances at all, but can anyone who is guess what theme they're going for? What character/story? I feel like that's a signature position of something...

p.s. It's not much to tell, but it doesn't look Latin/Spanish. Might be combined modern/flamenco, I don't know but the pose it's gorgeous. Might be the opening.

They are 21 on the SB list, so they get one. Unless Russia give them the host pick straight away, I'd expect them to only have that in the initial assignments, and due to their WR they won't be high on the alternate list, unless they do a senior B event at the start of the season & win it, which would take them into the group of 5 alternates automatically.
It's going to be really tight for assignments - there are 48 places available, 37 guaranteed already, not including the possibility of B/S coming back

As I know it is a coaching team who decides about B competitions, Russian Fed can only make a suggestion like they did in case of Zueva with S&K. And if coaches wants to get some B competitions, Russian Fed must allowed it and organize all necessary things.
It doesn't have much sense to plan B competitions until they will know what Grand Prix they will get.
I totally understood why they didn't do a senior B event last year (lack of time, having to work on the programs, needing time to look like a couple and get the feel of each other, even their test skate in the end of August was closed), but this year things have changed, for the better, add to their competitive experience together and get the so much needed points that will improve their standings and get them closer to the big guns.

Russian Fed sometimes waits until they give all assignements...if I remember well in 2013/14 season, there was one free spot at Cup of Russia in Ice Dance and three couples - Monko & Khaliavin, Stepanova & Bukin and Sinitsina & Zhiganshin could get that spot, plus Pushkash & Guerreiro were under question also. Russian Fed waited for very long until they decided which couple should get it - they probably waited for results from other competitions. Last couple (P&G) didn't have good B competition. Both Stepanova and Sinitsina finished last at their first Grand Prix, so the spot got Monko & Khaliavin.
Those are the key words. I guess the first sign will be the test skate, in the end of August (?). If they choose to do a closed one, again, then things probably haven't progressed as they should. I hope that won't be the case because their circumstances are totally different from last year. At least that's the way I see them.They are light years away from the "dumped", who, according to so many "well-wishers", didn't stand a chance. They've proven their case, now they can go compete with the big boys (and girls).
Closed Test Skates are compulsory, everybody must be there. Of course some coaches don't respect it, so Morozov with I&K didn't always attend it and Marina Zueva also didn't feel the needfulness to show S&K there. But Closed Test Skates are really compulsory.
Open Test Skates are usually free, skaters and coaches can choose if they want to show their programs or not.
I guess that skating fans will have absolutely no idea how are couples looking like until seeing them for their own eyes. Last year Olga Ermolina put some short message about Closed Test Skate and it was like...
...She wrote that Single skaters impressed her more than dancers...
...Ermolina also wrote, that personally she liked Bobrova & Soloviev’s SD, but she continued that it was because they looked beautifully...
...Ermolina writes that she doesn’t look at technique, but she has the feeling that Lena makes presentation for both of them…
...She liked Kosigina & Moroshkin and Stepanova & Bukin’s programs – she wrote what their programs are the most compact and interesting...

The program is doing well, I'm doing less with with it. Too complicated, I'm still learning, reading the manual. :hopelessness:Anyway, new ideas for a new video are much appreciated. Send yours and I'll see if I can do them.
