Jason Brown

And it looks like he tired Rohene out lol!

The photo is an old one -- from Glacier Falls, IIRC.

The original caption was a joke along the lines of, "Oh, just the usual in the locker room at the comp."

Jason's mischievous expression made me laugh then ... still makes me laugh now .

I was trying to figure out if it was the same one or a recreation of that one. I'll take your eye for it.

So I am very curious as to what we might see next year.

Since Jason mentiomed that he want to skate to something high energy that people could clap to, and IIRC he mentioned a rhumba, I predict we see one high energy Latin program.

Since so many people went gaga over Josh's flow and skating skills, I predict something that showcases those facets of Jason's skating.

Maybe one program with words. At least one quad.

Thoughts?

Like you, balletanddancefan, I was hoping T&I would get two seasons, especially after he was more appropriately costumed. It was already a very good program, but it had the potential to be even more than that.

But, perhaps they feel that if they are going to present a new quad-armed Jason, they ought to do it with new programs that suit.

;) I'm sorry but I just had a picture of Jason with four arms waving like the goddess Kali....

Thanks, Katmari-- I'm still around, mostly lurking these days but I always do my best to keep up with Jason. BTW, very nice photo of him relaxing in Mexico-- it's nice to know he does get some R&R!!

Now that the competitive season is over I'll be in lurker mode a lot more too. The tweet about his new programs is exciting though. I can't wait to see what he and Rohene have in store for us this year. :)

Neither can I!!

im tossing something out that we will see how wrong I am.

I think we are going to see a competitive hip hop program this year. Kori has a background in hip hop, Jason has taken hip hop dance, he clearly enjoys it based on exhibitions. I think we might see it sneaking into his competition. It would fit his wanting to do something high energy and grab the audience and is something that is within their skill sets to do really well.

So I am thinking a high energy fast tempo SP with a LP that will maybe be similar to Question of U in tone and theme and pace. Playful, but not fast, sultry, but not over the top. Obviously they are not going to do it the same, but that is the best descriptor i can say.

StitchMonkey, I do like the "sultry" thing (tho' not over the top, else it's no fun). We'll see!!

I will not be a happy fan if he does a hip hop short program. The current ex is cute but after those Russian splits there's not much else. The Hammer program showed him off better as a dancer but it was still kind of empty. I think a lot of people who loved his 2014 programs did not love this years and actually liked his skating less because they couldn't separate him from the music or the costumes. I hope that just like they realized the T&I costume needed to change they will realize that he needs to dig deeper and give us a little more than just surface glitz, however high energy the program is. JMO. ;)

I would not expect an ex to have anywhere near the content of a competitive piece. It should really only been seen as a sign of taste, not content.

I will agree I hope he starts the year off with better costumes, I can't believe how much a difference the change made.

Has anyone noticed that Jason has changed his Twitter profile pic: his profile is the Russian split in the gym bag, and his header is the yoga pose on the Mexican beach? April and May did give him some good photos.

I agree that hip hop for the exhibition makes it less likely that it will be a competitive program, although I am intrigued by the idea. But having followedd comments on the boards this year, and being honest with myself, makes me realize how much difference music makes. And how much skaters really need to thread an impossible needle.

I love Juke. I find the music to be sophisticated and nuanced Chicago blues. So many others, however, found it to be unsophisticated, or too poppy, or that Jason had to "sell" it. (I'm not talking about anyone in particular, or any comment in particular, just my recollection of the general reaction). Yet I was sold from the first note.

Music I don't like, takes a whole heckuva lot of selling. I'll use an example I haven't seen before: the godawful yellow silk whatever it is to which D10 skated his free. I love me some Yo Yo Ma (Bach cello suites: yes!), but that music makes me bang my head against the wall. I'm not buying it. Which, it occurs to me, is how some people feel about Juke. (Of course they're wrong and I'm right:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:)

So here's hoping Jason picks something everyone and their brother loves. POTO, anyone?;)

El Henry I have to totally laugh - I didn't love D10's programs that much but I did love the music & actually live most stuff by the Silk Road Ensemble! On the other hand, I also love the Bach cello suites, especially #2, and especially as played by Mischa Maisky - very non conventional Bach style though. In fact I would love to see someone - Jason, for example, skate a program to #2. It is so hypnotically beautiful and would show him and Rohene in a very different light.;)
