I always knew that they would be a technically strong team, but the question was always if they would have any chemistry or if they would just look like two people who happened to be on the ice together. They're both great skaters, but that's not all that makes a great team. I don't think I could ever have imagined that they would make the final FD group at worlds, or win Nationals. I just hoped they'd make worlds and maybe place 10th.
It's really stunning how quickly they've come together, most new teams take at least a couple years to get these kind of results. Part of it is that they're both strong skaters, but I really think they bring out the best in each other and they seem so happy together. I really love them as a team and I'm so happy that things have turned out so well for them. They've grown so much and improved together, and I can't wait to see them in the fall.

I don't remember what I wrote back then, but I as far as I can remember I've always been optimistic about these two skating together. I never expected them to have such a good first year and I was skeptical about Carmen at first, so in a sense they surprised me but I never had any fear or doubt that these two would 100% fit together. For me they were the best two parts of their previous couples, so what could go wrong?!
