The words that saved Kanako Murakami

Kanako Murakami (Chukyo University) is one of the people who have been saved by Hanyu. During the NHK Trophy, Murakami jumped three double loops, resulting in the last one becoming invalidated- a painful mistake due to her not having been able to adapt to ISU’s new rules for the season. In the interview the day following, it was almost certain that this would be a topic of interest. When Hanyu showed up at the interview with Murakami, he jokingly told the reporters this:

“Please, do ask her about the double loop.”

Because Murakami responded to Hanyu negatively, no questions came up about the double loops during the interview. Had Hanyu not jokingly commented what he did, the interviewers surely would have asked Murakami about the double loops, resulting in a painful and uncomfortable interview for her.

According to my friend's translation, here are some interesting facts: Kana has a sister who is 6 years older than her. She has been to the ice rink very often when she was still in baby cart because her sister practiced skating. When she grew up a bit and began learning skating, in contrast to others who were training very hard on ice, she just liked to sit on the ice building snowman and excitedly yelled out aloud.
Kanako ate some local fish before her competition at Jr. Worlds and got serious stomach pain there. She was in pain during the whole practice and competition but managed to win gold. Kenji asked her if Yuzu ate that fish as well, she said he didn’t (smart Yuzu!).

Oh! It suits her, she looks even younger and pixie-ish.

I really miss seeing Kanako in the summer ice shows because she was out with injury. I'm wondering about her programs for the coming season (praying they will serve her much much better than her POTO LP last season). She has the versatility to do soft and lyrical programs as well as fierce and dramatic ones so I hope her team takes full advantage of that. As always, crossing my fingers too she has improved her jumps.

She must also be happy and heartened that two skaters very close to her (Mao and Shoma) will like her be competing in the GP, Shoma having the same TEB assignment.

I hope to see more smiles from TJ's Sunshine Princess this coming season. :)
 
She's such a pretty girl, I bet she'd look good even with a shaved head.
She'll be in THE ICE shows so we'll probably see at least one of her new programs there :cheer:

I'm not a fan of this new haircut, but it will grow on me, I believe. :yes: Well, if she doesn't let them grow until next season, there's still a few months left, lol!

Oh, I thought she was doing no show at all this summer. That's cool, I hope we'll see some videos! :biggrin:

Mei neither tbh :biggrin: But she can pull that hairstyle off better than most people including myself.
I don't think it was ever announced that she'd take the whole summer off for ice shows. She just had to pull out from PIW Tokyo because she injured her ankle. I hope it's healed by now.

Kanako will be in all of them except for July 26 and 29 because there's a JSF summer training camp so Satoko, Kozuka and Mura will be missing on those days as well. What a pity for the audience.
 
It is reported that Kana will skate to something very Japanese this season. Both of her two programs will use movie sound tracks.
