Two things:

1. I wonder if Yuzuru is excited for Japan because it's the USA vs. Japan game for the finals for the women's World Cup?

2. Who thinks that we'll never find out his SP until like August at this rate?

1. I watched the game and cheered for USA...but did think of our dear Yuzu and wondered if he was sad the Japanese girls lost. :disapp:

2. I'm fine with waiting until August because it's already July! (Just a few more weeks guys.) I hope Jeff Buttle will be working with him on it when he gets back to Toronto AND I hope the program is upbeat and fun. :party2:

This is such a random question out of nowhere, but when is Yuzu's last scheduled show for this summer?

Next weekend (11 & 12) , Figure skating Aore Nagaoka.

Its comforting that his ice shows would end soon and he could rest a bit and concentrate on preparing for the next season!!! (Rationally speaking), yet I feel that I would miss him a lot until we see him compete....

its great indeed!

about his SP, if i remember correct he said at interview before DOI that he would continue composing his SP after DOI? that interview wasnt very clear about which program he would skate to or when etc. so i think (i hope XD ) they worked with Buttle between the shows, i dont think he would leave him since i think he is one of his good luck charms  about when we can see it, i think he has some kind of agreement or deal or sth that he wont show one of his programs until mid August for the tv program (or tv channel?) that broadcasted the news about his program for the last 2 years (totally my speculation haha)

Thanks @Maria, I’ll keep it up!

It’s interesting idea! For me, the TV broadcast about his new program on August is welcomed. Of course, I want him to fully concentrate on his practice in Toronto, but it’s a bit sad I can’t see him for too long time…:p.

Wow, he looks like a charismatic preacher! Thanks for sharing xibsuarz. I like that he's not self-conscious and knows how to seize the moment to speak from the heart to the audience. That must be a great moment, and I hope the network PTB are savvy enough to include that in their broadcast. (Always liked his back shots too. ;))

Thanks @Maria, I’ll keep it up!

Video montage of Yuzuru set to the music of "Requiem." Of course I can't read the subs, but this is a case where an image is worth a thousand words.

Same here...of course I want to know about his new SP now, but in the same time from the end of the ice show to the new season, time will be loooong . So with an annoncement mid-august, we'll have a topic for discussion !

He totally owns the audience xD Everybody is standing up !

I wonder how many shows are left for Yuzuru to stay in Japan before he comes back to Toronto? Also I hope he has a vacation this summer, a proper one hopefully.

3 shows left before he goes back to Toronto! No more shows after this weekend.

The pianist for the Kobe FaOI, Kotaro Fukuma, shares a story about the Chopin collaboration with Yuzu:
(as always, please correct me if I get it wrong and this is just a general translation)
こんにちはにゅう~ (^^) (T/N: Here he's making a pun with the name "Hanyu" and "Hello".)

I will explain yesterday's surprise in detail. There was a 'happening' (meaning the ice condition) on the 4th day show, and I was playing ballade 1 and Yuzu who was listening to it by the rink, came to my seat that evening at dinner and said, "Tomorrow, at the end of the Finale, could you please you do a collaboration with me to Ballade no.1?" What an honor!

However, his SP had many cuts in it, so I looked it up that night on Youtube and that morning we had a 10 minute sound-check and practice with him (Yuzu) and I waited for the real performance with nervousness. It's very difficult to play a piece you know well, with a specified cut and at a different tempo than usual.

To play at the Finale in front of top level skaters and artists is such a rare situation, many deep emotions welled up in me. The timing of the last two notes was unique and difficult but I watched the spin as I played to match it.

Last night I thanked everyone involved with FaOI but I want to specially thank the leader Yuzu. Completing such a hard program and still being aware/concerned for those around him, and enlivening the area. So impressive. (In that regard, Nobu was wonderful too!)

I've learned so much from the skaters at this FaOI. If there is an opportunity I'd love to come back again and I'd like to see how I can take this experience and bring it into the Japanese music world.
Anyway, this week I have 3 shows in Europe, I will give it the energy of a 3-combo jump!

I'm not even going to comment on that

Thank you for the translation :)

It's always great to learn the back stories of performances like this one. How amazing it must have been for the audience to see that brilliant step sequence with live piano music by a musician of Kotaro's calibre. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Newbie for the sharing Kotaro Fukuma story of the Chopin collaboration . I'm amazed at Yuzu's ability to seize an opportunity to surprise the audience, and providing them and Fukuma a moment and experience that they will cherish.

- Kataro, Stephan, Yuzu & Tomotaka @Kanazawa
- Part of cast @Kobe #1
- Part of cast @Kobe #2

I hope for more collaborations between Yuzuru and musicians.

And this is OT, but Kotaro reminds of the character Shinichi Chiaki from my favorite anime "Nodame Cantabile." :o: He could have played Shinichi in the live film.
