Mao Asada

This is the radio program where Mao talked about her day:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drixfcFt7oA

She said she gets up at 4am, eats breakfast and does something to make her body fully awake, starts warming up and stretching at 5am, and starts skating at 6am. She skates for an hour and a bit, then takes a little break, and then skates for another hour and a bit, and then takes a little break. Then she skates again where she has the ice rink all to herself. This ends at 11am. Then she has 'recovery time', and then has lunch. After lunch, she takes a nap, and then goes back to the rink. She has a 45-minute skating session which starts at 7pm.

The above is a pretty accurate description of what she said on the radio program. So she didn't talk much about what she does until 7pm when she goes back to the rink after her nap, so maybe this varies from day to day.

In any case, Mao is practicing hard!!

Thanks a lot, hurrah, for the translation from Mao's radio program giving her training schedule.

Here is Mao skating her Jupiter program to Madame Butterfly with Maria Callas singing soprano

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2osqnbENqE

Though it will probably be different, I actually think it goes together well. Haunting and beautiful. For me, I would like the singing in only part of the program though. But who knows, this version is growing on me.

I've been following all the postings over here. You guys  Keep it up :cheer:

I feel like we're all eagerly awaiting a cruise ship with a loved one on it to return or something. :)

She seems to do a quite severe training day by day.
I see why many skaters want to retire in their early 20s and never make returning anymore unless they have higher ambitions and determined….

Here is a new video showing someone making a beautiful portrait drawing of Mao:

 It’s a great find! An incredible fan art . I feel the drawer’s amount of love towards Mao.

Yes! I’m always impressed that you’ve got a lot of lovely images!

BTW, do you have any images with Candeloro, who calls hisself “Mao’s godfather”? I love him, who highly appreciates Mao.

Thank you hamaguri :yay: Actually It can be my pleasure just like watching their skating lol
yeah, I have heard that Candeloro is/was a big fan of Mao and every time he made statements about her, he praised her to the skies even without hesitation.
It was also fun to hear that the story when he met Mao.

Btw as to your inquiry, I couldn’t find that but I found the useful site instead of. Then I am going to post the link(s) to your PM.
You can also see the tons of compliments about Mao from the legendary skaters in that video.

Aand you know that I also like to see, Jeff and Mao’s prince-princess like relationships as well as Yuzuru and Mao’s sister-brother love relationships.
What do you like the most?

 Wow... Life of figure skaters is hard. Sometimes I wonder how often they think it would be better to leave it all, since the traning is long, difficult and you can get injured very hard. You have to sacrifice a lot of things, you can't meet your friends very often, you are on a diet. However, I understand the love for the sport prevails and I'm glad Mao wants to be competitive.

I watched the Maria Callas version of Madame Butterfly again. For me, this is the version with notes that linger and haunt my mind the most and I hope the choreography and mood have some similarity, though not the same, as her Jupiter program. I also hope there is a passionate climax towards the end. What is amazing to me about Mao is how well she can do lyrical string based or in this case match the mood of haunting operatic pieces that are a mix of light and melancholy like a dark bird flying through the sky but then how incredible she is with heavy rhythmic pieces like Rach II with pounding piano chords, especially in the step sequences. Base scores are meaningless to me next to the transcendence of her skating and the moods she weaves that are a multi-colored tapestry matching the vicissitudes of life. Here is the link again.

I can live in a dream world in my head while watching Mao’s (Jupiter) skating that with the many-sided versatile voices by Maria Callas.

Is there an NBC version of Mao's Worlds (probably would only be the free skate)?

I could not find these either

Yes! Me too. To see something beautiful and soulful, I can be happy when I was deep in a sorrow.

All of them are wonderful, and you put the photos symmetrically! Well done!
I can’t choose one…
Fan arts are lovely (why do you have such photos?). I like ③(below) best, since I love Mao’s smile costume and yuzu’s RJ1 costume most!
I’m happy just to see Mao’s smile, so I love both ⑤.
To see ④ (above), I want to say thank you to Jeff, for his truly loving Mao.
To see ⑥with Jeff, I just look forward to seeing their creation this year! At THE ICE, what will show up? The last year’s Bolero was a masterpiece.
To see ⑧(below) with yuzu,,, I just want to cry. Their pure appearance and soul made it a work of art like a pastel drawing.

I respect her hard work, courage to return competitions from the bottom of my heart. I get excited to think I can see her elegant skating again. Most of all, I love her step work, she is a queen!
Go Mao!

@hamaguri Thank you for the answer and the explanation in detail !!
you ‘re describing about these really well especially as to the ⑧ below
and I can’t choose just only one either.

I really like the pictures which Yuzuru and Mao appear in together because they always seem to have something, as you said, like a poem and art for me.

About Jeff and Mao pictures which make me happy and big smile on my face.
I like their princess and prince appearance looks as like it comes out of a fairy tale such as the ⑧ above.
I am looking forward their The Ice performance too. Can’t wait! :)

Very cute t-shirt.

Say, why can't Mao post a video of her doing a half loop-triple salchow? I'm dying to see it.

BTW, this is the last time Mao skated in public, over six months ago!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0Ah22x5UGw

But she was looking great! Love the skating, love the insane delay on her loop!

I'm just rotting away waiting to see her skate again

Does anyone know when The Ice footage will be available?

So Mao is coming back... time to start getting regular FS updates again. Was letting my heart recover after the disappointments of the Olympic season.

Can't wait to see her programs in TheICE next week! Hoping she'll skate her new short in both shows. Going to watch live on Thursday and am already so excited! Love the shirt with the 3 hearts but I wish they have smaller sizes.

I think the first showing will be from Fuji TV on July 25, 9:55-10:55 (only 1 hour )
http://www.fujitv.co.jp/sports/skate/the_ice/index.html

Chukyo TV will have a special program on August 2, 15:00-16:25 with lots of backstage footages and an interview by Midori Ito.

And a program focused on the show itself, on August 15, 1:59-3:59 on Chukyo TV also.
http://www2.ctv.co.jp/spotch/archives/542

Then there is THE ICE channel on YouTube so hopefully we're all covered.

I just realized they took down all the YT videos from THE ICE 2014
