Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

I wonder, who is to define what is a "very Yuzu" decision? Is it fans with their own different preferences or Yuzu himself?
He explained in the interview yesterday that "试合のプログラムでは自身初めてとなるピアノ曲で、「昨季の世界选手権の前から决めていた。成长できるプログラム」と理由を说明した。" He's already decided to give the SP another season before going into Worlds this year.
Some might see this as a "recycle" strategy" or taking the safe route, but it seems like he just want to give a justification to this wonderful Chopin program as he says so himself.

I think it's totally fine for some to feel a bit disappointed on not getting a new program (at first I also felt a bit anti-climax after all the anticipation :drama: but then I got excited about the thought of seeing chopin at a completely new level!).
But please don't twist this personal disappointment into victimizing Yuzu being limited by his team's decision.
Because, you don't even have to be a long time fans of his, you know this boy has a very strong will and solid view of how his competitive career would layout. Ultimately he makes his own call and no one can force him to do something he doubts.

On a lighter note.....I'm still quite shock with the fact that he's going to compete at Skate Canada Autumn Classic to begin the season! Happy that he's reducing the travel time and will have two solid months of training in Toronto before he heads off to his first competition. A bit sad for our European friends who were looking forward to see him at Finlandia, I thought he would go back this year for sure. Luckily GPF is in Barcelona and I'm so excited to see we have quite a list of people from this thread that will be going! (Is it too early to say I'm already imagining the attendance list we will put together for Pyeongchang :cheer2::cheer2:)

I think the point is that Yuzuru has already demonstrated to be able to develop an amazing trajectory of talent as a competitive skater without recycled programs. It’s detrimental to Yuzu to think he needs a recycled program to break a world record ( 106 ? 107?) , or that he needs to be a proskater to deliver a (new) masterpiece … it’s limiting and not very Yuzu’s ..

GOOOOO YUZUUUU!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I dont think anyone of us think he needs recycled programs to beat world records. But with the circonstances, its a wise choice to keep a program that has still room to grow, technically and in the scoring, as he thinks he hasnt take everything out of it.

He recycled PW for the Olympic season and he did just that, twice, so who knows?

He showed many times how much he loves this program and how frustrated he was for not having been able to skate it clean nor showing its full potential last season. Now it's his chance to do so, with the original layout. I hope everything will go well!^^

My only worry is getting tickets for AC, since it's apparently not sold online... What if me or anyone else do the travel but isn't able to buy it at the entry because it's already full of people?😥

I saw in another thread relating to the autumn classic this:
I was at this competition last year.
There were no real "tickets" per se, you just go on the day and pay at door, then they give you these neon color paper bracelets to wrap around the wrist (if i remember correctly, might have mixed up with another local event I attended last year).
There were two rinks with competitions going on at the same time (the other rink holds the Octoberfest Competition which also includes entries for pre-juvenile, juvenile, pre-novice & novice skaters), so basically you only pay one fee for each day and is free to wander between both rinks. There are no seats assigned to the "tickets".

So if they are keeping the same format this year, I think it will be quite a chaos if they sell the tickets online. But perhaps it's a good way to get an estimation on attendance in advance.:)

He recycled PW for the Olympic season and he did just that, twice, so who knows?

This season he got 96pts at gpf with an UR+ fall that costs him like four points, and we all know in which circumstances. Then recycling is not a need for records, but more for a global strategy.

What is this with all the damn whining about Hanyu keeping his SP? He's a competitive skater, not a TV producer obligated to churn out a new program every season.

Chopin barely got mileage and he should have the chance to iron the program out. Some people are jumping to assumptions that his sole motive is to break 100 pts.

Reason for keeping short is obvious that he needs to practice LP more which looks even harder than i thought looking that they included many entrances to jumps despite 3 quads.

Hey guys! This is my first post here but honestly I've been lurking for a little too long. I feel like this is quite a good time for a first post. We finally found out his SP. I don't mind about him keeping Chopin, though I definitely expected he'd have something new and I kinda want to see as much program/style for him as possible before he go Pro. But hey who are we to question it really.. it's his choice and sure it's been considered well. I agree with you guys' opinion about him wanting to perform it in its full potential (it's less about the record/score but more to personal satisfaction I'm guessing) and I can't wait for it. Also, SEIMEI has a lot of potential to be great, but also (possibly) big room for errors. So I think it's wise for him to better/perfect his SP and focus a little more on his free. Oh and btw, I really like SEIMEI based on what we got so far.

And no, I definitely don't think it's limiting nor detrimental for him. He's not a type of person to limit himself (while he actually should at times) and I doubt that in his mind it's all about record (but even if it is, so what? he just wants to perform it at its best). So this decision, I believe has gone through not just his head but his team's (meaning everyone has weighed/factored on it) and it's agreed that it's for the best. Thus we must respect. Besides, who are we to decide what's best or not for him. If there's anyone, first and foremost, it should be him. Brian and his team comes next. With regard to skating of course.

I think it's important that while we're allowed to say each and every opinion, that we try at best to keep it positive instead of keep casting some negative lights into each and everything. I think almost everyone of you guys have done it so well. I mean, this is supposed to be enjoyable right ;)

Before I end this I also wanna say thanks to y'all with all updates. And I didn't mean this post to be this long haha and idk when will I be able to post again but be sure I'd lurke here.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and welcome to the Yuzu Fan Forum and Golden Skate!
Post often and long.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with this, but does this mean we can expect some kind person would upload the performance somewhere?

That would be very nice. I am very excited to see Yuzuru's new SP layout and the entire SEIMEI LP.:)

Is there any hint in Japanese media on who is going to be on Japan Open with Mao and Satoko BTW? Why they keep it such a huge secret still?

how cute sota is! such a fan boy , he says " “Hanyu-kun will retire after PyeongChang Olympics…I will work hard so I can go with him. "

His tweeter name here is 山本ポエ太 YAMAMOTO Poeta :laugh2: His new SP is Poeta. Too cute :laugh2:

Go Sota ! Get the chance to go to the Olympics with Yuzuru !

I really hope Japan could get 3 berths. Then Yuzuru, Shoma and (hopefully) Sota can participate together

Thanks for the updates, everyone!! I truly appreciate it :o: Wish I could attend AC as it's only a few hours' drive away, but I'm afraid I don't have time...and it's a shame that he isn't going to Finlandia, since so many fans were excited for that!

Yes indeed. There was live streaming last year from Skate Canada. I watched it. Having said that, the live streaming video was a bit out of sync with the audio though.

I think we should all have a Project Runway moment and entertain what kind of design changes he should make to the costume  I would prefer a change of the neckline.

I agree to change the neckline and would also change the pants. I'd like to see black pants with a belt like what he wore for PW and a shirt with a collar that is loose through the arms and a bit less fitted than the PW shirt. Keep the gradient, but maybe change the color to black and gray or blue and gray. A bit of bling, but not too much, and definitely without any frills and lace!

OMG...Barrie is like what, one and half hours driving from my place....never expected him to go to Autumn Classic....such a surprise!!! Like a bonus in addition to Skate Canada:cheer:
