Skaters on Team Japan

Is Tanaka still injured in his back?
Poor Hiroaki. -Well, I'm not surprised by this result, but I hope they do better next time. As always.

I was ecstatic to learn that Tanaka landed two 4S in practice yesterday so I don't think he is still injured although the back injury could be chronic.
Oh well, better to bomb here than at more important competitions (so I keep telling myself).

Because she is young enough for Juniors and so it is best, with a new partner, to have at least one season Juniors before making the leap, I would suppose.

Well, that's right... but I still wonder if that's the reason they're not skating together anymore. Either way, I'm sad Francis isn't her partner. :(

I think they're still in the same club though? I'm sad to see them split but I have a feeling that from the JSF's POV this is a great way to add depth (or at least numbers) to the very scant Pairs field of Japan. I mean look at how just in one year they now have 3 senior pairs (Suto/Boudreau-Audet, Suzaki/Kihara, Takahashi/Zaboev) with (some sort of) experience, and a junior pair that may have potential (Koga/Howe).

??? Why are Ami and Francis not skating together anymore? Especially since Francis still compete for Japan?
EDIT: Oh... just saw that Ami is competiting in Junior and Francis in Senior... I wonder why?

Not sure what's going on, but I think Ami has said in an interview before that she wants to go to the Olympics so having someone with Japanese citizenship is a good way to start. Still very sad but Sumire and Francis are pretty good from my zero-knowledge-about-pairs'-discipline eyes.

But Spencer is American, I saw a video of him competing at Junior US Nats this year. Or did he give up his American citizenship?

I heard Spencer has dual citizenship. At least he doesn't have to give up his citizenship at next Olympic, when he will be still 21.

Figure Skating TV has been uploaded on dailymotion thanks to hana02014
Part 1
Stephane Lambiel coaching at Novice training camp.
Miyu Honda, Moa Iwai and Rika Kihira who both just competed at Asian Open Trophy and Shun Sato.
Stephane coaching at Senior training camp (+Wakaba and Sota)
Mura doing really difficult steps.
Full run-through of Shoma's FS and Rika's SP. Shoma looks exhausted.
Sneak preview of Mura, Wakaba, Satoko, Miyu, Riona, Yuka, Haruka's FS and Sota getting Stephane's advice for Poeta

Part 2
Yuzuru's interview and SP runthrough.
Junior training camp - fitness tests, ballet lessons.
Rin Nitaya, Kaori Sakamoto and Rika Kihira's 3A attempts. (Good to see Cathy Reed there too)
Kazuki Tomono's 4S attempts and Taichi Honda's StSq?
Full run-through of Marin Honda's SP and Yuna Aoki's FS (Mao!).

I heard Spencer has dual citizenship. At least he doesn't have to give up his citizenship at next Olympic, when he will be still 21.

That's what I heard too.

↓Ah, sorry hamaguri. It happens a lot

Just finished watching these!
Shoma: Wow! cleanly landed the 4 most difficult jumps and only one fall. He is so consistent and his jump quality is getting better. He will need to raise his stamina quite a bit over the next few months or else the program will be mostly just jumps. I believe he can do it.

Mura: I like what I saw of the Jeff Buttle program. Mura has some strong basic skating skills which I hope to see more of in his programs. Hooray!

Wakaba: Her skating skills are also very good. Nice deep edges and strong on both feet, going both directions.

The Junior Ladies: Wow, so many 3A attempts. Good for them.

Yuzu: I will always be a nervous wreck watching him compete. He never wants to go the easy route. It will be a miracle if he lands that last Lz in his program. AAAAGGGH! In all other areas, I see improvement in his SP. More little nuances and bits of footwork are added back in -like the twizzle exit from his 4T etc. It will be painful for me to watch, but wonderful at the same time.

Yes! Yes! It was really fulfilled program! GJ (Fuji…lol)

Wakaba has speed originally. She provably has less of fear. Her edge works will give her advantage.!

Junior girls… I saw some of them at the summer shows, but it’s sure they get better and better!

I’m very looking forward to Sota’s Poeta where Stephan helped! I just have deep gratitude for Stephan.

New programs with commentary was good idea!

I really expect Shoma this season. It drew my eyes he get height about jumps. Landing is smooth as always. Yeah, he lost stamina midway through. Senior program is denser and longer. But he shall make it! I really like his artistic expression. Shoma overwhelmed me at last Japanese Nationals. And then, when I see him live, I’m always surprised that he doesn’t at all seem to be as tall as he is. He surely seems bigger. I’ve never minded his height.. (Oh, I talked too much..lol).

If Mura can have consistency, this program will get high score. (Please get peeking going well this season, Mura..).

Yuzu's body (and face) get matured than show season? Yeah, he's always worrying me.. About 3-3 combo, I was anxious about the entry, since the crazy entry had partly caused combo trouble last season. And this season,,, the entry is just complicated, and as ever he struggles.. Yes! That one foot movement after 4T is gorgeous! And other subtle changes.. More delicate and lovely program.. Yeah, the problem is we need much nerve to watch it this season:unsure:!

BTW, Someone knows the sourse of Yuka's Madama Butterfly?

Shoma's 4T seems so consistent now. I was a bit concerned at the beginning of the ice show season because he was popping them every time I saw him (live and on TV).
I'm warming up to Rika's SP now. And she looks cuter with bangs.
I really liked what I could see from Riona's program. I hope we can see it before CoR.
And Sota's Poeta, it might be personal bias or it might be the music, but it looks brilliant. He is competing today and fell on the 3Lz and couldn't do the combo. But people at Summer Cup say it was gorgeous despite the fall.
Marin's SP is beautiful. Why couldn't she do that this weekend?! I blame the ice rink.

BTW, Someone knows the sourse of Yuka's Madama Butterfly?

Do you mean the CD/singer? (not that I know the answer to it, but I'll keep my eyes out for it if that's what you mean)

once again i watched an hour long video without understand a word
after watching Shoma's LP, i thought sometimes its really easy for us to blame skaters/coaches when we think they are ppushing themselves enough, saying they are taking the easy route; but its not true at all , when we are not in the same situation judging is very easy, i hope he can manage to increase his stamina and perform the program to its full potential

i really enjoyed what i see of Mura's program, i cant wait to see full version!

ofc, they showed part of Satoko's LP once again  is it possible they arent showing her SP on purpose?

Sota's improvement since last year is amazing! gonna be exciting to watch him!!

i love junior ladies, despite low scores at Asian Trophy they look very good in the video, i blame ice conditions as well!!

great to see Haruka in the video as well

and i have no words for Yuzuru's SP except crazy transitions, not to mention crazy transitions at FP as well :hopelessness:
