After watching H/D`s SD, I`m not worried anymore about I/Z`s choice. If that counts as a waltz, so will Somebody to love.
Exactly. This S/D reads more like an OD. To be honest they seem rather bland without the non-touching step sequence though.

Sometimes I think it would be better to skate one CD and then the FD, but I think a lot of people would miss the OD. Those are always fun.
You mean go back to CD, OD and FD format? With the demands of COP there might be too many injuries. Tell me why you think so though, intrigued.

I know I'm like a stuck recording, don't hold it against me Well, rather than reduce the value of the CD portion which they did this year, they should have increased it while leaving the points allotted to the non-touching step sequences or reducing it. A lot of these changes seem highly political and illogical to me at least.
I don`t really understand why the step sequence in hold is called a partial step sequence. Do the skaters have to show less technical content to get level 4 or what is this step sequence supposed to be?
Marta25, I give up really. I'm waiting on Sisinka to shed some light on it. Last season the partial step sequence had to incorporate some pieces of the CD. If they're required to change the rhythm doesn't that make it very difficult to do much less properly identify? I don't even know or understand if that is required this season. Since H/D barely did a change of rhythm shouldn't there have been a penalty somehow? Colour me confused :scratch:

if his helps anyhow..it basically needs to have the style of anything BUT the waltz...the tempo could be anything.

I think this year they are doing again two sequences of the CD, in this case, Ravensburger Waltz and the partial step sequence replaces the non-touching step sequence. I just don`t understand what the "partial" means. Sisinka, help!
I agree, maybe it was just their SD but to me as someone who is not terribly familiar with the technique it was quite hard to see where one element started and the other ended. I mean, I guess to some extent that is the goal but it was really bothering me to not immediately recognize the step sequence. So it was one big .. blah, basically. The music didn't help either, although I do love waltzes.

No just a CD and FD format. I feel a CD would weed out those with no edges ect. I am still baffled at how Ruslena's SD didn't score higher. Well, for a new team they scored pretty high. I don`t know of any other newly formed couple scoring nearly 70 points after skating only 10 months together. Even Chock/Bates, who rised pretty fast in the rankings, needed 2 to 3 years for that.

Although Stepanova will gladly tell you they only got those marks because they were officially Russian number ones.

I realize that but I don't feel they were score properly in the SD at Rostelecom, Europeans, and Worlds. SD wise they should have beat C/B, P/C, and finished first in the SD at Worlds. They had the dance of the season and the skills required to match the others, if not exceed them.
Everybody has got to pay their dues. Besides they could have a bit more polish and unison and this takes a little time. If what TAT says is true as in they've made a breakthrough, they should be able to score better, provided they bring it, which I hope they do.

Can`t wait for Ruslena`s new programs. Btw, were they also this quiet last season? With all the drama of the last off-season the wait didn`t seem so terrible like this year.

I think it was the same last year. Elena gave a couple of interviews, then they announced the music. When the GP already started we saw their SD costumes on the cover of Moscow Figure Skater, and then we finally saw the programs at COC. But they give us a lot more information than most skaters. We don't know the music choices for many people or the names of choreographers. Elena also posts pictures regularly, including a few pictures from on ice training. TBH I don't know who gives more information to fans. What else can they share now? Show half-baked programs? Or take time off training to do more media appearances?
Also, for me personally the wait is much easier this year. Last year I was worried how they'd look together, both technically and artistically, and now I'm not.
