Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

I don't know why the media explodes as to Yuzuru's retirement after 2018. Because he mentioned it several times before, and almost all his fans know that.

Actually, I myself was surprised when he mentioned it expressly last year in the interview of Figure Skate Days (my posts #6799 and #6804), because once he said he would like to be a top skater as long as possible (maybe he had Plushenko in his mind). But, now I think he could be a top skater as a pro as well.

After all, this is the plan he has at present, and even he himself does not know if it would be the same or not after the next Olymipcs. I'm sure I would love either of the plans of his. I would be happy if he would be happy then.

Thank you @mikaboo :cheer:
You remember very well.

I was also surprised that the media made such a big deal out of it when he has mentioned his plan of retiring in 2018 in many, many interviews before this one (making me suffer each and every time btw). Maybe this interview was more widely spread and that's why it has caused such a fuzz?
Well, whatever happens in 2018 shall happen. If he decides to retire, I'll support him and watch his ice shows avidly, if he doesn't I shall support him and wish him the best of luck in competition. And who says that if he retires he can't compete anymore? There's competitions like JO

Probably because no one else makes retirement plans 3 years in advance?? :) The media is not used to having such juicy news so they all pounced on it.

So I guess the interview lasted 2 days? The initial footage was taken Aug 7 (where he wore the black/blue UA), and also the latest footage Aug 8 where he wore the black/red UA...so can I expect a red-gradient Chopin costume?? Is this a hint?? No??

In my view he looks greater in cold colors, I think that the skin color like him could look shine in those colors rather than warm colors no matter how he likes red or not.
So my really selfish hope is that he would keep the color in cold but change the style of that.

To be fair, he often causes not-normal reactions. Just look around. Many of us are at least some kind of nuts [emoji3] not sure his studies have already reached the level of abnormal psychology.

Exactly!! that's why he shouldn't be so perplexed!! [emoji23]
From the day he received fan letters saying that they want to marry him, he should've seen this coming Hahas!!!!

Yuzuru was going to talk about bullying at schools today for the "let's stop bullying!" campaign. Any news? :)

1) The only info on tweeter currently on the bullying campaign is memos shared by @yujurunrun and translated here by SophieMoroi from YHIFG FB.
Hope there will be a broadcast of the video message as there's some meaning unclear in the tweet.

“The only intention I have is to win a gold medal at Pyeongchang. That’s the one and only purpose of the whole hard training I am going through. I would like to accomplish the best possible performance during these three years until Pyeongchang.”
“When the Pyeongchang is over, I would retire if I feel that I have done everything I could do within the framework of competitive figure-skating. On the contrary, if I feel I could have done something better within the framework of competitive figure skaters, I would probably continue pursuing [competitions]. In any case, I will do my best towards the Pyeongchang, and then would like to think of my future from then on.”

Thank you very much!
Concerning his words about Pyeongchang and his future from then on, I'm now totally perplexed as well. Journalists completely misunderstood his idea as it seems. He doesn't really sound as adamant as before, quoted by media.

Thanks @SuzyQ, @alia, @firal, @owl for all the updates and pictures!:)

I was thinking about his ice show on 24H TV (Aug 23, 24). Last year, the show was aired live, yet this year the term ‘live” has not been seen on any advertisement or promotion of 24H TV. Getting performance on nationwide TV live is highly tough, so he seemed to have troubled last year. Hopefully, this year the show will be filmed in Canada without live.

I think it is just a diplomatic way of saying his career plan. My understanding is that his biggest goal now is to "accomplish the best possible performance at Pyeongchang" (and win gold of course) and if he achieved that he would turn pro and if he hasn't achieved that he would probably continue.

Yeah, I hope the same so it won't disrupt his training or maybe they already film it before he left for Toronto.
