I don't feel like the times before the jumps are really different, it may be somthing more about the rythm, which is quite important in the salchow. At Nationals, I have the impression he quite broke his rythm after the steps with a little hesitation when he speeds up his inside edge.
In terms of speed, it's difficult to appreciate on videos for me...

you guys remember top 6 quad toe video and the poll? same user has same video & poll for top 6 3A (ofc as he stated based on personal preferences), guessing it wasnt shared before since only 2 people voted

HI all: Happy Friday!!
Here is my latest blog entry….l started wondering if the city of Lethbridge is truly prepared for Yuzu's visit? For those of you that are not aware, Lethbridge is a "small" city.

https://sportymags.wordpress.com/2015/08/14/yuzuru-hanyu-is-lethbridge-ready-for-yuzu-mania/

I really enjoyed your blog. You make a good point about the organizers needing to be ready, as Yuzu fans will be there in droves. Wish I could go, but am stuck working in Osaka in October. Anyway, great blog as usual! Thanks. :)

Thank you! I will write an entry about my experiences in Barrie (assuming I can get in) and Lethbridge. I contacted Skate Canada directly. The reason there are no advance ticket sales is because the arena in Barrie that is hosting the event doesnt have a ticket office. The regional club is hosting the actual event, not skate canada. Since the event is usually very small, they have local volunteers set up a table at the door. Skate Canada is re-assessing the situation and they will provide me with an update shortly.

Lethbridge is hosted by Skate Canada so they are much better off....but I still don't think they understand the magnitude. But I'm sure both events will be great!!

Thank you alia, and the fan detective

I have wanted to know the designer of those costumes for long.

(Just FYI, Tokyo University of the Arts is a very difficult art university to enter.)

I don't know which costumes the designer actually designed, but Akiko and Haruka are ones of the skaters who chose costumes that I like (I also like Alissa Czisny's costumes. I want to know her designer too.)

Honestly, I cannot think of a male skater in particular other than Yuzuru as for costumes that I like

Don't mention JW ones. Nobody other than Yuzuru (and JW himself) can deal with them

As everyone already knows on Aug 22 at 8pm there will be a broadcast of Yuzuru skating (live?) and his June 18 visit to Fukushima as part of the 24hr TV charity.

Back in June 18, Japan news had shown clips of his visit. Here is translation of those clips.

A volunteer at the Fukushima disaster-affected area recently wrote an account of Yuzu's visit. Below is the translation done by Angelica Yuzu (for original source please visit her blog). Thank you Angelica and the volunteer.

Angelica Yuzu said:
Written by a volunteer at the disaster-affected area in Iwaki, Fukushima, who was there when Yuzuru visited on 18 June 2015. She wrote about it in twitter on 15 Aug and I have translated most of the content here~

When Yuzuru-kun visited the temporary housing in Iwaki, I went to be a volunteer from morning. I remember everyone was in smiles because the gold medalist was coming. Just seeing their smiles made me happy. The disaster was more than 4 years ago but Yuzuru-kun made his way here to the affected area; I am writing to carefully convey the feelings.

In the temporary housing, there are many elderly people (grandpas and grandmas); people of that generation are strong in endurance and do not complain. But to Yuzuru-kun, they told everything, that their homes were washed away, that they have no family, that they are all alone, that they want to go home; I was relieved they talked. Yuzuru-kun created the place and the atmosphere where one could talk.

Just because Yuzuru-kun has come, the entire place dazzled and brightened up like flowers had bloomed. All the grandmas clapping with smiles that they never had before this, just seeing this made me break down and my tears could not stop flowing. What was aired on TV is only one part; I wish they had aired the whole thing.

Yuzuru-kun looked at everyone with eyes that were gentle, warm and beautiful, and his words were spoken with great care and kindness. There was a grandma that started crying. Yuzuru-kun went to her side and was crying with her and saying ‘I will come again’. This remains a deep impression in me.

[………]

In the evening, when they saw themselves on TV, everyone was noisy and excited; it was heartwarming to see them like that. There were also some who were moved to tears. After this, there were people who feel so proud that Yuzuru-kun came. I am happy that everyone became so “genki” (invigorated). I am full of gratitude to Yuzuru-kun. Thank you.

Well, it seem that the 24hr TV will also show the footage of Yuzu in Fukushima, but I'm still confused whether Yuzu is performing live or not. He is in an interview a week later so I think it is live. But what program is he doing? Requiem?

thank you all Alia, Angelica and the volunteer :)

There's must be a wild flame still burning inside Yuzuru .. the kid never fails to amaze me .

Thanks everyone, for all the uploads!

Thanks @alia, About his visit to Fukushima, her story was very touching. His gentle heart and strong will for supporting victims….He’s always consistent.

It’s almost certain the program will be the Requiem, I suppose.

Yes, some people write it will be live show, though I cannot confirm the certain souse thereof. Last year, only the residents in Tohoku Region could apply for watching 24H ice show there in Hachinohe. But this year that event has not been heard. The official program just said “Ice show from Fukushima”, so he may use any rink at Fukushima(I don’t know if there’s any rink at Fukushima. ) ?

And that speed is in my opinion the reason why he was struggling so much with 4S. When he takes that little second more before takeoff he jumps it perfectly, but sometimes he rush at so big speed for it that he misses that one perfect moment I think

I agree and I can totally see it.. I also remember some commentators commented on it before. That he jumped so big, with so much power (too much power lbr) that he himself couldn't control. There were moments, ofc, when he hits it just right, and when he does it's majestic. He just needs a little more control and he'd be able to get it perfectly more often.

Oh and the Lethbridge city article  they better be prepared for the storm Yuzu would bring!

to me it seems Yuzu's 4S take off has been slightly different since Barcellona GPF, it looks like it's less laboured, faster and smoother , I don't know how to explain it in a foreign language properly , but it seems there's less pressure on the left leg. The result is a majestic jump and Yuzu's speed is amazing.

If I remember correctly, Mao had kids skate lesson at the rink somewhere in Fukushima while she visited the area.

Have these videos already posted?

FOI of some years aired at once the other night.

This is the part of Etude, Finale and R&J of FOI 2011. I think you have seen them somewhere before, but just to evoke your nostalgia.

And, opening just in case:

The Finale shows Yuzu has not changed in all this time. Way back in 2011 he was a show off with his jumps and pushing other people into jump battles...even his elders! Everyone dancing to Daisuke's music is so great. I miss Dai!
