2015-16 Russian Test skates

Any updates with Anna Pogo's program yet? She is another one I am really looking forward to.

I think Leningrad is a very good choice for Julia... I presume is a FS? It sounds epic and cinematic and practically a sequel to Schindler's list, from one European tragic heroine to the next European tragedy. I hope she get an uptempo happier music program for the other program to make better contrast.

The reports over the summer said that her FS was a safe choice and a music she has shown she can relate to. The SP however was fun and a bit different. Someone on Vk said it was fun and uptempo about a week ago after she skated it clean at Sambo.

I want to see Anna too.

LP: "Leningrad"--William Joseph https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OqGWArNp6lw

I agree with the reports saying her LP is a safe choice, I think it's safe but there's nothing wrong with safe since she's trying to comeback, if she's trying something new in the SP then no biggie

The jump rotations look good and I can't see the 3Lz edge clearly but overall it looks a lot better than Ashley Wagner's from last season. She looks more womanly but everything on ice looks good. Her extension is as impressive as ever, I look forward to her this season

Honestly I can't say myself, from that far and above, if that's a flutz or lutz.

I keep trying to pause it at the point of pick-in; the blade is a complete blur, but the ankle seems to suggest it's closer to the outside edge than anything else.

Not sure if you've seen this or not from last spring but she has been working on it and has completely changed her entry to add a lot more momentum and counter rotation than before.

Her lutz edge looks correct. Hopefully she can regain her consistency in competition because she can challenge all of the top skaters when she is at her best.

I think going with a safe choice is smart considering she was burnt last year with having to change her FS close to the beginning of the season.

Do you really think that music is tragic? Come on! I think you are judging that music because of the name, Leningrand, not the sound. It's nostalgic and it's poetic but there is no tragedy in it.

I was worried about her jumps but she looks great.

During the warm ups, doing jumps, she had no problems last season either. I think only the competitions are the real proof.

What a pleasant surprise. Julia looks in a very good shape. Now I can say I may enjoy watching her jumps.

I kind of think it does... it has one of those post memorial feel to it like the recuperation of some historical event and people are overcoming it with hope and tranquility. It sound like a sad beautiful song of goodbyes. Yes may be how I feel about it is also because of the title Leningrad (Russia's suffering of the war, now I have no idea if that is what the music is about, just how I feel about it). It definitely has the mood I got from Schindler's list, so it will be interesting how Julia interpret it.

The music are layered from intimate to bigger than life build up, has a sort of far scenic look over some distant European city, ashes and smoke rise from the broken streets, mix with winter fallen leaves and beauty. It kind remind me of old European Classic movies like Pelle the conquer, about over coming poverty and despair, that sort of haunting music towards the end credits.

Actually thinking about it - is Schindler's list really tragic sounding? It sounds more about coming terms with historical tragedy with hope and peace more like? The irony of it all is that the red jacket girl is oblivious to the tragedy, that made her an innocent in the purest sense of the word, that is what makes the the music deeply affecting.

I agree with your interpretation but I don't feel like that's tragic. Leningrad is more like a tribute and there is hope. Although I don't know the author's intentions for this particular piece. I was not familiar with him before yesterday. SL is quite different IMO.

Pelle the conquer music is really beautiful by the way.

I think Anna might able to do a good job of it actually, those long elegant limbs try to go for mature graceful skating.

Hopefully the instagram was accurate of Julia's development - often they aren't ie clips of Osmond and she is no where near consistent to landing much of anything. Julia's body is different but if she can skate like she did in the clips it looks mature, polished and jumps look good though the lutz is still a bit of a flutz.

Does anyone know what's happening to Sinitsina and Katsalapov? It seems they won't attend the test skate due to health problems?!

Well Katsalapov was recovering from micro-cracks in the foot from around January to April. So we don't know if this injury is a new development or due to the old. It explains though why Zueva didn't come with them.

Did they even practice then? Or are they just there to chill out and size up the competition?
