2015-16 Russian Test skates

Is Leonova keeping her SP from the last season? https://vk.com/figure.skating.girls?z=video-24972370_171356474/6ed928cdce185fda2c

Based on the SP, seems like we'll have Elizaveta, Elena, and Evgenia as the top 3 (Triple E Team O_O) with Anna and Julia as the reserves... But we have to wait until competition to see what it's really like but honestly I don't see it changing since the E team have the most consistency with the most difficulty. My say is that the Era of Russian Headcases has ended!! (Thank goodness) But it saddens me to think that we most likely wont see Adelina, Julia, and Anna in the latter part of the season. What are your all's thoughts?

I think it's far too early to make that kind of prediction. Especially if you're doing it based on the programs. That's quite a matter of personal taste. If I were to judge them based on their programs, like the choreo and overall image, Elena R. and Evgenia will be nowhere near the team at europeans and worlds.

Pulling for Julia and Elena because they're my Russian Preciouses* and especially Julia because I'm going to see her at SA. Liza's program is a HUGE step up, but she needs a new costume. Disappointed in the lack of dresses here...they're all wearing black pants and tank tops and it's not the same as competition because the programs could end up being so different once they have their real costumes. Wondering what's up with Elena I., and I hope Y/M and S/K aren't boring because they're going to be at SA where I will be subjected to their boring programs (or lack thereof). Also, I love V/T, but those outfits need to die. (Actually, should I be writing T/T? :P I've never really been sure about that.) Really hoping I/Z are okay! And that people don't get out of control with the rumors!

*I have a long list of skating "preciouses": junior preciouses, Russian preciouses, Japanese preciouses, Canadian preciouses, Up-and-Coming Preciouses, Retired Preciouses, Dubstep preciouses (haha can you guess who?), dance preciouses, pairs preciouses, ladies preciouses, Uber-Preciouses...it goes on and on. They're just categories of skaters I really like. And no, I am not Gollum. ;)

Yulia: hate the music. She looks good though.
Tuk: same choreography and style. Frankly, was boring to me.
V/T: Max needs to up the costume. They look good as well. StSq needs more energy. She's keeping her last name so it's just Volosozhar.

Good to know. I'm honestly disappointed because Trankov is easier to spell...

Because confession: To this day, I can't remember where to put the H's in Voloshozhar. (I was looking at Max's quote then, so I got a free pass. ;))

As a whole, I've noticed that Step Sequences have really deteriorated from what they were in the past. They've gotten really slow and everyone puts them in places where they don't belong.... Don't get me wrong I love the sequences in the middle or beginning of a program, but when you start your Step Sequence with a spin and then end it with a spin? Come on, don't slow it down, speed it up!!!

I agree on the step sequences. Watching all of them I was saying to myself "I'm pretty sure they can all move faster than this." Especially Evgenia she was moving so slow or seemed to at least. I am wondering if it's only because youtube has allowed high fps videos to be shown and beforehand they all just seemed like a blur on the screen.

I'm not sure what you mean by headcases when referring to the ladies. None (well except one obvious) boast about their accomplishments. Anyways, hearing Yulia state how she got anxious before the show got me worried. I was sure she would have fixed this issue by now. With what was shown today it will be so easy for her to be outclassed by the other girls if she doesn't show up with a strong, confident mind.

What do you mean? I&Z are more than okay. The rumors were about Ksenia. We were been sarcastic with moon comments.

That's the most natural thing in the world really. She has been away since december after a bad season. Being nervous before the public, which she knows were anxious and wanting to see a good performance from her, it's perfectly okay. I would be worried if she wasn't.

It's still misspelled. ;) There is only one letter 'h', and one 'zh' sound -- near the end.

It's okay. British Eurosport butcher her name every time.

And yes, it's one h, after the z.

I would assume that they are all a bit slow because it's only the test skates and not a competition - they aren't going to be in top form yet. Last year at the test skates you saw people just marking out programs without doing any jumps...here, some did double jumps on purpose...they show what they can, and improvements are yet to come, obviously.

Liza's costume is gorgeous...the music suits her very well. Jumps as flawless as ever...every thing else is about the same level though :/ I thought Anna's costume was going to kill her in that one spin...I don't like it. The music is a bit boring but better than last years. I am somewhat confused by Elena's program...is Je T'aime angry music? I feel like she seemed angry up until the end of the program. Her landings always freak me out a little. Yulia was surprising. Evgenia...I can't even remember the program at all but I remember thinking she did well...hmmm.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding, and those sentences have nothing to do with each other, but, just in case... A "headcase" refers to a skater who is inconsistent and suffers from nerves, not a proud, or boastful person.

I liked all of the Russian ladies. As a huge fan of Radionova, I hate to see her getting crappy or even just OK programs. I don't know if it's her idea, her coach's, or Morozov's, but why does she keep recycling other people's music? The Rach that Michelle did previously, now Je t'amei which is an exhibition that Julia previously did. And Mariah Bell performed to Titanic when she was a junior!! I just don't get what her team is thinking...I know she can emote, and she can perform the heck out of anything, but she still needs quality music! I feel like her best music choices were a couple years back when she was in junior competition.

I wholly agree with you.

That's what I'm saying, Anna Pogorilaya, Adelina, and Julia were all pre-Sochi, but every girl after Sochi, minus Tuk, is very consistent...

I know he's no in the test skate but if you haven't seen Dmitri Aliev YOU HAVE TO HE IS THE ONLY HOPE FOR RUSSIAN MENS SKATING
