Jason Brown

Heck, check out the Julia Lipnitskaia thread OP.

And with all the fans she/has, not one has stepped up to doing an update for her.

:slink:

Am I the only person who is starting to find a certain person's posts about Jason in the US men's thread not only tedious but in some cases verging on offensive? I don't want to derail the US men's thread any further so I'm trying to refrain from posting in there for now. Half of her posts are unintelligible and the other half repeat ad nauseum and in ever increasing detail (and now with links to you tube clips) her "opinion" of why Jason sucks.

I actually had thought it would be interesting to compare a 16 year old Nathan to a 16 year old Jason because they are so very different. But it's hard to have an intelligent discussion when anything to do with Jason brings an onslaught of ... noise.

Am I just losing my sense of humor? :slink:

You're not the only one.

I'm still holding out for my Golden Trio at Worlds. I will be taking a sewing kit just to stitch down that bloody sash if necessary. ;)

Yeah, that thread is starting to make me cringe. I even tried to point out that both skaters have deserved their past successes but they both have areas to improve. Sigh.

Who is your Golden Trio? I have my dream Worlds podium and I even expanded it to 4-5 skaters but I'm not going to hold my breath.

No; agreed! :agree:I just gave up, which was not the brave thing to do, whereas you tried reasoning. Making assumptions about motivations, and persons, and nationalities. A puzzlement. Maybe the mods will call me out on this, but it is the kind of discussion I expect on another board, but not here:shrug:

I did not have a chance to look at the 16 year old Jason skates, because (and I know I am a total minority here and I can't explain why) I actually find earlier, classical young Jason to be, well .... A tad sleepy.

And to combine threads and Stitch's comment elsewhere, I hope Jason follows Mariah's costumer when he replaces (please God!) the caterer's outfit....

What a long way we've come. This thread was opened around the time of Glacier Falls in 2013 - one of the posts on the first page is my getting a sit on the naughty chair by Youtube, but not before the video of Jason's very first outing of Riverdance had totalled 4600+ in just a few days.

Back then he was the World Junior silver medallist, and we were looking forward to his first Senior season; we had no idea (or did we?) what was about to happen, the wild ride he was about to take us on.

*contemplative*

Thanks for the validation, guys - good to know I'm not totally crazy.

To pick up in contemplative mode where Karne left off, I didn't even know who Jason was in March 2013 because my experience with figure skating was limited - as a kid I loved watching the pretty ladies at the Olympics every four years, but I hadn't done that in years. I guess I encountered Jason probably right after 2014 Nats, because his name kept appearing in unrelated search results and I finally got curious. I think it was a Phil Hersh article, so as much as I've criticized PH in this forum, I have to thank him for that. I loved Riverdance, but it was A Question of You that really got me - his performance at TEB 2013 remains my favorite of all.

Only a few weeks til the senior Bs! And okay partially OT here, but I'm dying to see how Max's programs look, hoping that Mariah kills it at SLC, wishing that we get good news about Josh soon, and last but not least, hoping we see two clean programs from Jason in October even if both quads are <<.

:)

Thanks as always for the updates, Polenka. Sorry to hear about Tyler, but I hope it all works out in the end. We have a Team 7k thread now, and I am going to repost your news there (although I think most of us on the 7k thread are on the Jason thread, but you never know)

On a happy note, Jason's programs are looking amazing and the jumps are finally finding their places in the programs...he's progressing to clean run-throughs (excepting the quad). He usually seems to be skating clean about 95% of the time by about Christmas...it seems he's on track for that again this year.

Thanks again, the choreo was so complex, not surprising it required some dedicated practice. On a less serious note, can you tell us if for the costume for the short has been changed, or at least tailored so that it fits Jason better? We don't want it to distract from that amazing footwork!

Great, thanks...I'll make sure to find it and post such things in there next time!

Sorry, I have no info for you there :( I haven't seen a new costume--last I saw (Summer Sizzler) he was still wearing original but that was quite a while ago. I do know they are aware of the issues and I'm 100% with you on the need for *something* to be done about it!

Discovered some updated information on USFSA's assignment page.

Jason appears to no longer be going to Ondrej (Mariah still is listed) but is now listed for IceChallenge instead. Which is the week after Skate America (can anyone say masochistic?). But does include Jordan Moeller, they were both added on the 22nd.

Who knows what that means really. But I was looking forward to seeing him sooner and would have been nice to get some practice in before Skate America. Ohh well.
