Alexander Petrov

I'm so proud of him. It's really crazy to watch him skate his fp and think that he is actually only 16. I also love the fact that he is starting to show his personality on camera and I feel like his presentation has made a big leap from last season. :)

Really well done Petrov! I like the clean-ness of his elements and his good posture. He has that 'x-factor' for me that makes him enjoyable to watch.

Finally I got the time to watch Sasha's SP. Wow, what a wonderful skate! But why his TES scores are that low? Adelia, Sasha looks great in his FS shirt! :)

Congratulations to Sasha on his successful senior debut at SC! :2thumbs::cheer:

SP TES was low because of the mistake on the first spin and then the 3F got called "e", a very harsh decision. The "e" alone cost him over 4pts (including GOE). He should have had around 40 for TES. Luckily that made no difference in his overall placement for this competition.

Very interesting interview with Sasha...

"Alexander Petrov: "For a good starting point"

Russian figure skater Alexander Petrov took 6th place in the Grand Prix "Skate Canada." This start was the debut of his career Athlete prior to this season, Alexander played for juniors. The student of Alexei Mishin in Lethbridge purely skated both programs, so it can bring performance into an asset. After a long program skater gave a brief comment correspondent Tatiana Flade.

"Its performance at the first senior Grand Prix estimate how worthy. At the moment, I did almost everything he could. For a good start. Such events are different in that there is more responsibility. And on stage in Canada, I was the only representative in the men's figure skating from our country, so, you know how I felt. In psychological terms it is not easy, and as the physical form, the ride is fairly easy. While Lethbridge is located at an altitude and it felt a little bit, but the right ...

Among adults skaters felt normal. Everyone - happy guys! In the locker room and on the ice all behaved normally not boasted titles and ranks. I thought to myself that, for example, that guy - the world champion, and won the Olympics ... I just saw the guys who always smiled kindly treated me, to each other. We can say that the situation in these competitions was a home or something. There was a certain pathos, more "pump", they say, are you in Canada, so come on, pull devil. Of course, the "pull devil" has not been canceled, but the tournament was not excessive nervousness ...

What have I learned from this start? That under no circumstances can not relax, give up the slack, should be able to get together and do their own thing.

The next stage of the Grand Prix in my Bordeaux. I think that interim statements during these two weeks will not be. We plan to slightly modify the program to include a quad, to please the audience ...

Free program this season, I have a serious. Only steps can come off the track in terms of emotions, in other parts of the role need to be sad. But I like the program. I still went to the adult level and it is necessary to comply ... Is the thing is, how old I am? The depth of the program and the topic does not always depend on the age, "- said Alexander Petrov. "

Very mature and wise reflections from Sasha. And a great attitude too. :)

Edit:
He says he probably won't skate any competitions between now and TEB. Did he forget about Volvo Open or is he pulling out of that tourney?

So, quad is coming. :) he does sound like a wise young man. He really has a good attitude.

Loved that! ("the ice we're skating on is getting pretty thin" - a song made for skating?;)) Mishin students tend to have...Attitude, don't they?;)

You know, I think he really enjoyed himself at Skate Canada? I think he actually prefers to perform to a crowd - the more, the merrier.:) That promises well for TEB - hopefully the quad won't throw him off, and make him nervous. But, in the interview, he actually sounded excited about it... So, that's a good sign.:)

Also, as we know, since so little attention is paid to him, and even less expectation - he can go in for it without any added pressure.

I totally agree, I feel like he in a way knows that he can perform and that he is a good skater compared to pretty much anyone. And he really seemed excited about the quad, so it should be fine.

A confident but down-to-earth young man. He has a good head on his shoulders. And like you've both said, he loves to perform and has the ability to perform. I absolutely loved his reaction to the audience applause at SC.
