2015-16 Grand Prix assignments

It feels like Skate America had the least amount of scrambling for subs/WD in the events. Only one, and luckily it happened fairly quickly enough where they could be replaced.

They don't have to fill the spot as it's less than 10 days to the start of the event. In any case, it would be considered as a host pick spot, so more likely to go to a French skater (prob Hocqueax) rather than going down the subs list.

This. I expect it will be filled, but with a more or less unknown French skater.

Can't wait to see Gracie at Trophée Bompard. Hope she puts two clean performances together.

I hope both Tuk and Gracie are at their best. It'd be fantastic to see a great competition this season. It's more exciting when the top are all at the top of their game.

Apparently people on FSUniverse are saying that the FFSG has withdrawn Papadakis/Cizeron from both of their events and that their first competition of the season will be French Nationals. There are no reliable sources out there yet (I can't find the press conference mentioned) so I'll take it with a grain of salt for now, but if it's true... :slink:

I also cannot find confirmation. Neither skater has tweeted about it and the official ISU event page as well as the Dance schedule listing all teams for all 6 events still has them listed. I am searching French sources now.

ETA: I cannot find a confirming source for the announcement from the French Federation that has been posted on FSU, but I have to think probably someone didn't go to the trouble of writing a fake document in French. I wish they had or would source it but I think it's likely it's true.

Not on TSL predictions. Zero points for me in ice dance!

And even sadder, we still don't get to see our World Champions compete. I loooove P/C so I'm disappointed for more than just my game.

Oh, apologies, I blanked that you had said TSL. Poor you. :( If it is any consolation, I expect loads are in the same predicament. And, yes, I am going to miss them.

Can we imagine if they don't and they medal at TEB?

Coomes & Buckland could win at TEB. It's not the most likely scenario, but it wouldn't be a wild one either. They defeated G&P in the SD at Nepela. They have Igor pumping up their difficulty. They won bronze last season at CoR and were in second at NHK before imploding during the Free Dance. Their FD is full of original movement and was a big step up for them artistically last season; they just never put it together in the performance until Nepela. There's definitely a question mark here as far as what is possible. LOTS of teams in the mix here that are ranked in the same zone. G&P may have done enough over the past season to pull away from the crowd, but . . . along with that loss in the SD at Nepela, they had one in the SD to H&D in Canada last season--not to mention that 2014 Four Continents title loss. Keeps things interesting! Of course, C&B could take themselves completely out of it as well.

The good news for Coomes & Buckland is that unlike Russia, Japan doesn't have a dance team in direct competition with C&B. Their chances are much better for receiving an invite at NHK. In fact, any medal at TEB might actually be rewarded and make C&B more of a draw for a dance-neutral country. As should be the case.
