Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

Plus I doubt she has any interest in full time coaching these days. I was thinking of her as more of a consultant than anything - instead of spending 2 weeks with her on vacation like Elena did this year, she should have taken Ruslan & gone for a month to work. I wouldn't want Dubova having any control over choreo or music or anything, just working on the basic quality & partnering and also being a powerful voice in their corner.

she didn't spend 2 weeks with Dubova on vacation come on. She spend few days on her way in and out of NY, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm watching their performance again and again. It's a breathtaking program. I don't care what judges think or give them. I just LUUUUURVE this program and they killed it. :luv17:

Eventhough the score didn`t reflect it, this performance felt like a breakthrough for their Frida. I think they need to keep performing this way and hit their levels like they did here and maybe the judges will be inclined again to give them the scores they deserve.

Precisely  Their place was settled for them long before they put one foot on the ice.;)

deduction for standing out of the rest :)

TAT on tv called Frida a real work of art. This woman is an international treasure. You just don't know where you stand with her and what her mood will be in any given day.:handw: I love her. :laugh2:

Day? Minute by minute would be a better way of looking at things concerning the TAT :drama:

I always love TAT when I agree with her. And when I'm not she's always interesting and never boring.

Their free dance was amazing! I loved it, too
But the PCS were just outrageously low... :scowl:

No, no, no! I'm going to bed :bed:
(ok, I'll translate it tomorrow ;) - if nobody does it earlier... There is almost nothing new, though; almost the same things which she had said last time...)

Well they were great here so I thought there must be something new. But don't worry. Have a good night sleep now. You see tomorrow. :)

I've just finished watching the FD for the umpteenth time. It's so lovely and I think the programme is developing really well. I'm excited to witness its evolution come Russian Nats :yes2:

Am I the only one who liked IZ's free dance more than SK's one?
On the other hand, I think that IZ should change their short dance as soon as possible

No you're not but changing the SD might be a tricky move at this stage especially if the judges have already decided you're the lesser team. They might as well just polish what they have to a perfect shine and go with what they have. Because IMHO, it really does work for THEM, they just have to skate it all out without mistakes. I still think with the fall they should have gotten at least 60, the overall skating was that good. But this panel of judges had another agenda in mind.

They lost 7.5 points on the twizzles, no accounting for the fall or effect of the disruption to the program, so saying they should have still got over 60 doesn't make sense...

@lennicky I think we all in here much prefer I/Z's FD :) I agree I'd like them to change the SD though.

They are doing I Put A Spell On You again in the gala.

With the levels they got and the quality of skating they displayed clean they should been scoring closer to between 67 - 69. So with a fall lets say they lost maximum, 10 points, they IMHO, should have comfortably scored between 58 - 60. It may not make sense to you, but it is MHO...

I also think 54 is low even with the fall... So, clearly, they should hire me as a judge...LOL

But, I think the judges at the GP were just not feeling it this year, not just at CoR but at CoC too. IZ scored very well but not great.

Russian Nationals will be interesting. Obviously, the Fed usually by that time has an order in mind based on excellence and consistency in the season up to that point. If BS do well at NHK, they will probably be crowned #1. We'll have to wait and see.

It really is too bad IZ had this error at their last competition before Nationals.

I'm just thinking of all the teams that had a rough first (few) season(s) and who got really far after all, like W/P and C/L and even C/B weren't that good at first. So I think Ruslena are already way ahead of them comparing their first years. :)
(Makes me feel better!)
