Max Aaron

My apologies for the confusion - what I meant was that this would be a reasonable explanation why you wouldn't see Phillip or Tom in a Kiss & Cry with Max at an event. I didn't mean that anyone hear wouldn't automatically think negatively if they weren't there.

Yes .... it obviously is one of the factors in play as to whom we see where ... and has been one of the multiple reasons why none of us have been or will be judging Tom Z or Phillip or Max.

I regret that I ever mentioned Boston in my recent post.
It was an idle reference that simply was intended as a compliment to Phillip and his important role in Max's growth and success this year.

And complimenting Phillip does not mean that I intend any disrespect for TZ.

Happy now?

FYI for any in the Chicago area:

This weekend (Dec 11 -13) Max is skating in a holiday ice show in Evanston.

Nutcracker on Ice:

Max Aaron, 2015 Skate America champion, will appear in the role of Magical Guest at three performances. ...
He will appear on Friday and Saturday evening, and on Sunday afternoon.

[But apparently not in the Saturday afternoon show.]

ETA:

I am reminded of what Phillip Mills said in May of this year about Max and Nutcracker:

Part two of the Phillip Mills interview on TSL is up ...

... He talks a lot about how much Max loves ballet and one of the first things they talked about was that Max said he wanted to do the Nutcracker, so Phillip says there is a Nutcracker program in Max's future. :yay:

And I had forgotten that Max himself had mentioned his interest in Nutcracker in his own TSL interview in 2013:

Max in the Nutcracker! His dreams are all coming true  I hope someone can go and tell us about how SnuggleBat went as a Magical Guest!

That is so cool! I hope that Max has a great time! :)

I didn't know that Max was a fan of ballet. I wonder if he should consider doing program to other ballets in future seasons. Although I am not sure if any skater could pull off a character like Puck (Midsummer Night's Dream). Maybe Don Quixote?

Our SnuggleBat is a great ballet aficionado, even if he confesses that he is not very good at it himself. That is why Mr Mills has agreed that there will be a Nutcracker program in Max's future. Don Quixote might be fun, our SnuggleBat as a regal prince or lord is always an image I can get behind!

(Additional: Carmen was also Max's choice, as he said he had loved the music since he was eight years old. I imagine he did not have in mind that awful dross Lori Nichol gave him, however. )

Videos from the Evanston holiday ice show:

Max skating to Nutcracker music (seems like some of his Nessun Dorma choreo? and he's wearing white top + black pants)

Max skating a non-Nutcracker program (in white t-shirt + blue jeans)

Looks like it was pretty much all Nessun Dorma choreo for the Nutcracker piece, though you could see Max carefully thinking about how to repurpose it as he skated.

SnuggleBat's other program was, of course, Thunderstruck, carefully restrained to suit the rink that looked far too tiny for him :hopelessness:. karne, of course, will faithfully observe for her fellow SnuggleBat fans that he was, once again, wearing his lucky pink-with-blue-waistband undies. :o:

Thx for filling in the gap re Thunderstruck .
The depths of my oblivion :hopelessness: in this case are such that the music was vaguely familiar to me only from Max skating the program elsewhere before. (Please don't tell AC/DC .) Plus I am terrible at hearing lyrics. [And duhhhh ... I am esp. mortified now that I notice that the video was labelled with the song title.]

In an attempt to redeem myself ;):

Video of a different performance of Max skating Thunderstruck in Evanston -- from the Saturday evening show:

And a different fancam snippet of the program:
Note: a comment from the source of the Instagram says that Max did a "quad axel" (!?) -- although not caught on video.

(Nice that Max apparently gave a Q and A in Evanston, according to a flyer.)

Phillip Mills posted the Skating magazine article on his website. His link for just the article is below, in case the previous one for the whole magazine dies for some reason:

Okay, I confess. I sometimes wonder if golden should be the Agent of Max or Team Max. Wait, since she is unbelievably active by posting dozens of posts at GS Forum every day, and fluently, efficiently, promptly, or whatever (my darn poor English!) accessible to all information relating to Figure Skating and its skaters, literally a living news-source!, I have to wonder she must be the PR Manager, who's been secretly designated by either USFSA or ISU and sent to GS Forum. ;)

Anyway, I love this Fan Fest Threads. Fan threads is the favorite place to visit for me, esp. when I read some negative or unkind comments and want to lift up myself. Very nice to see so many good-hearted fans support every skaters in the world, and here Max has such many devoted fans as golden, karne, etc. :)

Thanks for all the links, golden!

I have to say, though, while I am sure our SnuggleBat can get close on a quad Axel, I have my doubts that he'd risk such a thing in a show only a month out from Nationals...but can you imagine if he showed up at Nationals and did one? :P

(And with all due respect to the poster, it was actually a triple flip, so...but I recognise that jump identification is not everyone's strong point.)

golden is magic . No matter how obscure the Max news is, golden always has it! :yahoo:

I will get to rewatch Max's programs from Skate America tomorrow! Free to air TV in Australia is airing highlights packages every Saturday now! :yay:

We have a new commentary version of Max's free skate from Skate America (sadly I don't have any way of uploading it just yet). Belinda Noonan did the commentary for both his and Brendan's free skates.

Belinda is clearly also an admirer of our SnuggleBat  And also pointed out to the Australian audiences his "strong physique"! :o:

EDIT: SnuggleBat Skate America FS, Australian commentary

Thx for uploading, karne. Enjoyed the new Australian commentary.

So happy to have deedee :luv17: here in Max's thread. Thx to you and karne for your nice words.

Given that Max seems to prefer to stay under the radar for the most part, I just hope that he would not find my posts tooooo subversive . Pls forgive me, Max.

Today's obscure Max mini-mention is that Tron is back -- as the illustration for TSL's quote of the day:

A quote from Max is one of the dozens selected by IN as the best of 2015:

"People don't know I'm an artist on the inside. Maybe I'm afraid, because of all the talk. I had my eyes on Black Swan for a long time. It's going to force me to be a ballerina on the ice." - Max Aaron, on skating to Black Swan

The 15 Best Photos Of Team USA Celebrating Victory In 2015

A group photo of Team USA at WTT in the K and C with Gracie and Frank is the very first selection.
Ashley and Jason, and Alexa and Chris, and Madi and Evan, and ... wait, where's Max??
Oh, noooo, I think his face accidentally is hidden :hopelessness:, but I think it must be :laugh15: his arm around Madi's shoulder.

But we'll forgive the Team USA photo editor. At the top of a Thanksgiving 2015 piece, we did get to see Max as part of an old WTT 2013 photo  with Simon, Marissa, Jeremy, etc.:

ETA (on Dec 23):
Thanks to Maddie, we can wish Dr. Aaron a Happy Birthday :hb: and enjoy this photo again.

Proud Dr Aaron is still one of my most favourite things!

Max :hap85: and Jason :hap85: both are in the USOC's photo collage today of assorted athletes from a variety of sports:

Citius, ALTIUS , fortius.

(Hat tip to @RichardDornbush.)

I was super impressed by the split on Max. He's not particularly flexible. Also, that's, uhum, an excellent view. :o:

Merry Christmas to my fellow SnuggleBat fans! If you don't celebrate, I hope you had a great day anyway!

That is a nice proud photo of Maddie's and Max's dad.

Sidebar: Are those Edea skates they are promoting the brand that Dave Lease went on a RANT about on TSL with Papadakis and how ugly the boots look for a skater's line? Of course with men, this isn't much of an issue because they usually cover their boots up with pants, but I don't see the issue with even the ladies. But I also think that because the boots are such critical equipment, the priority should be on what "fits" the skater the best for what they need to do.

Merry Christmas to my fellow SnuggleBat fans! If you don't celebrate, I hope you had a great day anyway!

Merry Christmas to you all too! Maybe we should eat some Chinese food today to gives some good vibe.

... Official fan page on Facebook for Max (viewable without a Facebook account):

Max's personal Facebook page (not viewable without a Facebook account):

Social media update:

Max seems to have a new additional "official Facebook fan page" (a second one viewable without a FB account):

Tom Z linked to it in a Facebook post of his own today:
https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=843076952457694&theater (includes the previously seen video of Max's quad axel with harness)

Meanwhile, the previous Facebook "Official Fan Page" for Max already in the OP still exists as well -- so that link remains good too.

ETA (on Dec 30), update #2:

The original Facebook "Official Fan Page" link no longer works:

Hoping that the good content that used to be there will be moved over to the new Facebook page.
