Who's Going to Worlds?

I take it you've never taken the Green Line to or from a Red Sox game ;). I think the T estimates are 1 million riders each day and there are definitely peak rider times that coincide with people coming and going to work. For example, you'll feel like a can of sardines if you try boarding any trains from about 4pm-6pm and it can take a few trains before you get on one. Getting on a train loaded with skating fans at 11pm would probably be kind of fun :)

Ha! You found me out.....! I avoid any games of the ball like the plague! But yes, I can see why there is a parallel there....Being jammed into a metal can full of people (being a bit claustraphobic) wouldnt be very fun for me but I could do it (Sorry, Satako,...no more room...) I will still try and get into the Westin....(Disclaimer: I can walk really fast as I have to keep up with my wife on trail walks so I can beat most of the fans to that "T" entrance across the street...:yahoo:

Oooh Flour! I won the Flour cookbook at a silent auction. I need to try that place! I'm going to gain so much weight...maybe not so much if I run everyday.

No problem. Do what I do...drink beer with food...the barley will counteract the flour and you will be fine....works for me! (OK, that and walking 10 miles a day)

It is fun! At Nationals my husband and I ended up meeting fellow skating fans and it turned out they sat near us at the arena, so that was pretty fun. :)

OK, many thanks to head of housing Terri Herron for much kind help. I am booked at the Westin for 7 days, Flying out Sunday at 2:30pm. There is a 24 hour market called the Star Market two blocks away and lots of food choices around. The Sonesta, BTW, is home base for Dash Tours, and the Westin has easy access to both the Orange and the green line. So no problem getting back from the arena and only one transfer to the red line to get to the free silver line to the airport. I am assuming the Westin doesnt have an airport shuttle. (Terri prefers the Orange line to the arena).

What, night caps with Chris? #GSPartyHeadquarters! :cheer:

If you don't mind walking 5 minutes, there is an airport express that services the Back Bay area. $5 for a single ride isn't so bad imo.

You are sooooo funny..... at 11 pm I turn into an old man needing a place to colapse! I will let you kids party after the events.
Now if you are talking about dinner with some self medication, sign me up!

anyone knows is there a way to get practice ticket without purchasing the all event ticket? really can't afford the all event ticket, but really want to see them practice...

I think the only way is to find someone who has bought an all-event ticket and is willing to sell their practice ticket. They don't sell practice tickets separately unfortunately

Can you purchase and load a Charlie card at the airport? Are the stations pretty luggage- friendly? Debating between going to my hotel (in Somerville) from the airport by taxi or by train. It will be early Sunday morning so I'm not in a rush but also don't want to dig myself into a hole before the week even starts!

Yes to both questions. You can also reload your CharlieCard online if you already have one: https://charliecard.mbta.com/CharlieCardWebProgram/pages/reloadCharlieCardIV.jsf

But yes, there are fare machines at the terminals.

Most if not all stations have elevators if you have large pieces of luggage. I see people with moving their luggage on the T all the time.

solar is right.....and it would be a hassel to buy a bottom of the heap balcony all event ticket and sell the individual tickets in the package on stub hub and keep the practice ticket, but it could be done.....for me, practices are way way fun.
They are open seating and you can sit with your friends and learn things from them (in my case, they are much wiser than I about skatin') Its also a time folks wave at the skaters when they are taking their final bows at the end of practice and get autographs and pics with them.....

You might call LaQuinta and see if they have prices and reccommendations.....When I stayed at the Seaport for Nats Boston the, Silver line , which was free, connected to the Red and then the Orange so the T is fully doable....if the taxi ride is expensive. Plus, you will be riding the T anyway during the week so this will be a good test run, on an easy Sunday morning....

Thanks chasingpolaris and CoyoteChris!

You're welcome! I didn't realize you were staying at La Quinta, though I should have known since you mentioned Somerville. There aren't that many hotels there. The hotel does have an airport shuttle if you need to use it.

The rest of the inventory has finally been loaded into Ticketmaster for the individual sessions and exhibition.

I am staying at
La Quinta Sommerville.

At this point we only have tickets for SD, FD, and men's SP, but are very glad to be going at all.

Thanks for the Ticketmaster exchange info Tammi!
I was able to exchange my old gala ticket for the same seat I have for the rest of the events.

Can I ask how you were able to exchange your old gala ticket? I've been trying to call Ticket Master all day to do this but it's been busy each time. Is there another way?
