Yulia Lipnitskaya

I loved it! The jumps look much better and I see a overall improvement, she's really into that program now, very enjoyable. Did she work with Zueva on the program in the last couple of weeks? If she didn't Urmanov did his work very well.

I feel like Urmanov brought out of Yulia what the program was in Zoueva's head.

Tarasova was extatic today. She almost threw herself on the ice after that skate 😅 I think she actually shed a couple of tears 😱😅

She skated with a completely different energy today. So enthusiastic and beautiful as if she got her wings back. Amazing performance! Good luck with the free program. Absolutely happy for her and her new coach.

No matter how the free skate will go, I'm so happy for her! That was really something! I loved the smile she had after her last jumping pass, seemed so genuine. The little touches in her choreo that we didn't see during her GPs were brilliant too. You go girl!

Thank god they brought back the leg extension into Ina Bauer after the 2a.

Im not sure what the FS will bring and if she can hold on to the podium or not but I've been waiting to say this for a very long time......

She's got that look in her eye again!!!

The long program could be more difficult. However, what was so great about today was her performance and the spirit she showed. There is a big, huge improvement already and that is what we all were hoping for. She is on the right track.

I just have to come and say how well Julia did! I'm not even a particular fan of hers and yet I got really choked up! She was like a different skater- her head was held high and everything was performed with panache and confidence. I have hated that programme- it felt like she was chasing the music and that it was really messy and over busy- but today I really enjoyed it.

The look on her face when she finished, the hugs by the coaches and the kiss on her head by Urmanov- all that finished me and I cried a few tears. Somebody said 'fatherly' and I totally agree. The way she turned and hugged him after the scores really tells a story of how she already feels a real bond there.

I really hope she can keep it going in the FS, but whatever the case, she definitely has a springboard now. :agree:

No I don't think she did. She was in Sochi the whole time after TEB.

Anybody able to give a brief summary of what was said? I know she talked about her new coach.

According to a friend of mine, she said something about the ice. That it wasn't good and it was difficult to skate (others were complaining too) and that made her nervous. About Urmanov she said that they're working for 3 weeks only but she already feels differen 200% and she has postitive feelings. Before she felt it from inside but now it can be seen from outside as well.

Wonderful! I truly believed she could do it but this exceeded all expectations! What a great Christmas present for us all!

I was very emotional after she did so well too. I adored her in Sochi, felt sorry for her troubles last season and at the beginning of this season, and only hope that now she's on an upward trajectory. Alexei seems to have created a good rapport with her and has restored some of that lost confidence. I hope she's done her growing and now just has to continue to master her new self and become the reliable, confident Yulia once again. If it doesn't happen totally this year, it will happen next year. I wish her continued success in the free!!

Just wanna add how I love her 'yes!!!' look after he landed the combination. After that she just seemed like letting it all go and performed it all out. And then the coaches hugged after she finished the program, I thought that's cute too..

Also, I was 'surprised' (for the lack of better term. It's positive btw.) to see her reaching out to Mr. Urmanov for a hug after the score like I don't think she displayed that kind of affection so openly before.. if anything she's usually on the receiving end but it just looked so.. natural, like she has that trust and bond to him already. It's so nice to see. Really glad that it seems to be working well.

Tomorrow is another day and I hope she'll be able to maintain this spirit and skate well, regardless of the placement. And it doesn't have to be perfect for an improvement. Wishing her best of luck! :agree:

When did she switch to Urmanov? so happy she made the coaching, Eteri was clearly not working for her post 2014, looked like she was almost ditched for rising skaters.
