Japanese Nationals 2015-16 Mens fs

Back to back NHK, GPF and Japan Nat within one month with travelling etc. is too taxing. Unreasonable expectation on an athlete to perform perfect every time is what put pressure on them. Brian said he is human.

Meoima just shared in Yuzu's thread a translation of what he said "I'm regretful for giving such an awful performance. If I can I'd like to practice again tomorrow".

Really sad when he felt like this. And I'm not sure how much rest Yuzu can get for next few weeks :hopelessness:

Dec 27 gala
Dec 31 guest judge at singing competition
Jan 9 ice shows
Jan 16-17 ice shows

I hope he skip 4CC.

Rough night for the men.
In the interview Yuzu was very down on himself, and even the reporter was trying to cheer him up and he just seemed frustrated.
However, it's a learning experience, like all the others. He will turn this around and remember what to do next time.

Yuzu and Shoma, have a good long rest. You deserve it.

They brought home medals on the Grand Prix circuit and at the final when it was important.
I believe they will get the 3 spots back for Japan at Worlds.

Congrats to Mura and Keiji, getting better as the season progresses.

Wait. Tell me more....

So it appears Fuji TV skipped Koshiro Shimada this time despite being one of the few skaters to skate relatively clean and receiving a standing O. And unlike Yuzuru back in 2009 where at least one camera was recording the performances, from what I gather on Twitter there were zero cameras rolling from Groups 1-2! :drama: Never change, Fuji TV, never change...

I just hope Yuzuru and Shoma can get some rest for now.

So it looks like the Russian girls stole all the mojo and there were none left from the Japanese boys...

this is not surprising.... the nationals are too close to GPF... I am not worried for Shoma and Yuzu... they will recover quickly and skate brilliantly when needed... better they have a bad performance here than on the international.... for murakami though... i am very sad..... i really enjoy his skating but he is way down the rankings... i am not even sure they would send him to 4CC.... they have to send Mura for sure... they might want to send Shoma as well to "confirm" his PCS..... so they could pick Sota, or Yuzu may decide he wants to go... or even Kozuka would be ahead of Daisuke for 4CC... without the international competitions, skaters are at a big disadvantage.

^^

I'm thinking that Yuzu won't go to 4CC... he's said he was tired... so he will want to rest before worlds... Shoma would make sense as you said... to confirm his PCS... but I think GPF has already confirmed his PCS and Shoma needs rest too... They will certainly send Mura, he deserved it... Daisuke Murakami had a decent run on GP circuit, he could be a good choice too... he can skate well... Sota's a wild card, he only had 1 good competition this season... Shoma did considerably better last year... the score of 215 might not even put him in top ten at 4CC... That would leave Kozuka or Keji Tanaka... It's going to be a really tough decision on the part of JSF... they've got so many arguments pro and con...

I watched Yuzu's FS - 2 falls in a row and he fought to land the last batch of jumps (at least he didn't fall on the lutz), so you could tell he was running out of gas. Otherwise the performance was good and he landed the first 2 quads easily. He shouldn't be so hard on himself given his schedule the last few weeks.

As for Shoma - his mistakes to me looked more like mental lapses than stamina since he landed the second quad easily. I think it's more the pressure than anything else. No matter how he does, his coach is always happy (and did you see her nails?).

Both should be proud to be Japans #1 and #2. Happy for Mura getting bronze.

May times, Japan has sent their nationals first, second, and fourth to 4CC. I wonder if they'll send Keiji? He's half-Taiwanese, right? I think between NHK and nats, he's certainly made a case for himself.

i think they did that when they could send 3 men to worlds... but if i am not mistaken, they can only send 2 this year.... so Mura wouldn't get any assignment if they did 1-2-4... so I am pretty sure it might be different this year... Mura should be at 4CC since he won't be at worlds and deserves another outing .

Oh yeah whoops I forgot about Mura lol

Well, he did get 98.56 without the falls.

Hanyu's by fav my favorite skaters but CSG is right, that was not a 95.5 skate, lol. Perhaps Yuzu wasn't as overscored as some Russians but he was a bit.
