Javier Fernandez

so fast! and so good! :luv17:

Thank you!
Some notes on this exercise: From an illustrator's perspective Javi has a great face to draw. It is made up of distinctive features, a strong brow-ridge, nose and jaw and heavy lids. When light hits his face from this angle you can see that he has got planes that can be easily sculpted (or shaded) and a really nice shape to the back of his head.
A complete contrast to Yuzu's face which is all subtle curves, barely any chin and a cupid's bow mouth. (though also charming)

Yuzu's face is very difficult, Javi's face is very easy to draw.

kinda sounds like you are describing their personalities  its easy to understand Javi, feel good personality, easygoing, doesnt make you tired or worried, and Yuzu seems like a simple boy with love of pooh, but when you start to get to know him you get dizzy after a while :drama: :peace:

Congratulation javi! Best of luck for FP!:cheer:

Congrats to Javi for this completely surprising, unforeseeable European title! Who would have thought?:love::cheer:

And while he had mistakes in the LP, I'm impressed with him for adding a 2nd quad. He has so much more competitive fire in him than last season, and it's great to see. Hopefully he will be even better at worlds!:cheer:

Congrats Javi! :cheer: Our King! Can’t wait to see him at WC!

Congratulations Javier on your fourth consecutive EC title. Mission accomplished (2nd quad in SP; 2nd 3A in FP).

Yeah… the successive titles for 4 years are really great work… Further, he still has much potential.:)

A Spanish newspaper posted this video yesterday before Javi's awesome short program. It has some very nice pictures and videos of him as a kid. It also has some great statements from him, like saying he hopes his personality doesn't change because remaining humble it's what's most important to him.

Congrats Javi on his 4th Title! :hap10:

Congratulations, Javi!! So happy for him!

I wonder, could anyone translate what the Spanish commentators said during his programs, please?

P.S. Seeing Papa Orser so proud and happy after Canadian Nationals makes me happy. His "Yay!" reaction at Javi's short program score gets me each time. Well done, Brian!

SP Comment

P: He won COC and COR. And the second place at the Final was also for Javier, only Yuzuru Hanyu finished ahead of him. With a sensational program, he’s got two quads on this SP, this Malagueña. Designed by Antonio Najarro, the National Ballet Director
(4T+3T)
P: How outrageous, what a start
(4S)
P: There’s the second, 4T+3T and 4S. He’s already got 25 points.
(3A)
P: And the 3A, textbook!

S: How has he improved, he feels it (connects with it) a lot more
P: As the season goes on, he gets into his character. Look he’s getting the audience on its feet. 4T+3T, 4S. Look at the score, 55 in TES. It’s obvious that right now in Europe…
S: He’s got no rival
P: No, no. His parents are there, the organizers must not know it, but they’re there. We’ve seen Laura several times, watching the competition.
S: In Europe, he’s got no rival
P: Right now in Europe there’s none.
S: It’s tremendous, spectacular, the ease with which he performs all the jumps.
P: Outrageous, outrageous. The ease, and he usually started with a 4S but now he’s changed it for a 4T+3T.
S: There’s that stepout on the combination
P: And then the 4S
S: Magnificent
P: Here he’s setting up for it. Look at that air position
S: Good! The revolutions couldn’t have been cleaner.
P: That right knee, that golden right knee.
S: Good spins, level 4
P: He’s got 93 this season, I think at the GPF if I’m not mistaken
S: Combination spin with a change of foot. 3 positions, level 4
P: Except for the 4T+3T, all the elements have been given at least +1.00 in GOE. The 3A with+2.57!
S: I’ve liked it a lot more, I’ve seen him much more complete. Except for that small stepout. Every movement had a lot of choreographic meaning. Very good, very good.
P: And in PCS, 9.11 in SS, 9.04 in TR…
S: This goes through the roof, through the roof!
P: 102! Look, 55 in TES, 46.68 in PCS. How great, Javier, how great!
S: He’s got no rival
The were pretty chill about it  (I promise the "outrageous" it's a good thing) I’ll post the FS in a while :)

Thanks for your work, xibsuarz! I know how much they got satisfied with and enthusiastic about the bririant performance by their World Champion!:hap85:

P: He’s got a 14-point advantage of the second-place skater, the Russian, Maxim Kovtun. And he’s got 3 quads scheduled.

(4S+3T)
P: That one did (work). 4S+3T
(3A+2T)
P: 3A
S: What an ease, what an ease
P: Outrageous, 3A+2T
(4S)
S: Come on Javi, 4S.
P: He does it with such an ease
S: How greta
P: 3F+Lo+3S
(3A)
P: That was crooked.

P: Look at the TES, 89. And he’s still got a couple of things left to do.
S: 3Lo
P: That one…

S: Well…
P: There you have him. Susana, I wonder why he changed his planned 3T for a 3A that costed him the fall
S: Yes he changed the layout. But even if he was not perfect because we saw the fall and he’ll have the deduction, he’s still a great skater.
P: Look, Look, look at the TES, 106.52 to 81! He’s got it in the bag. Even if Kovtun comes out…
S: He won’t reach him
P: He won’t reach him. He’ll get a point taken, his parents are on the stands, both wearing white shirts. His mother and father, his sister Laura who introduced him to skating. He used to go with Laura to competitions, and now the judges working (on the score).

P: What a shame, is that 3A which he changed into a 3T. He changed it into a 3A and he fell.
S: Here we see the 4T with that hand-down
P: He got +0.14. Except for the fall, all the other elements, jumps, steps (got +GOE)
S: That 4S was textbook, as well, the 4S. The air position, followed by that 3T
P: Bravo, Bravo Javier. All the PCS, all the PCS above 9. He’s got 201.43 this season, and of course, with 106 something, 107 on TES
S: What a great air position
P: And all the PCS above 9, 9.21 in TR, 9.57 in CH. He’s got it in the bag. He’s got it already, Javier Fernandez. So loved, so very loved, Javier. Well he’s going for his 4th Title: ’13,’14,’15 and ’16. Ondrej Nepela did it on ’70, ’71, ’72, ’73. To go into the lead he needs 140 points, and we’ve seen he got alomost 107 in TES and all the PCS over 9. iNT was the highest with 9.64. As most of the skaters, the lowest is the TR.
S: This season’s he’s got a couple of very good programs, both SP and LP. He lives them and he seems comfortable
P: On that Malagueña, by Paco Delucia and Placido Domingo, choreographed by Antonio Najarro…
P: 302.77 he goes into 1st place. And, to respect their rivals, we have to see what Maxim Kovtun and Michal Brezina do. But he’s got the 4th European Title already, Javier Fernandez.
