Li Zijun

She looked a little wan, I hope she's healthy. Her SP (and the dress!) is one of my favourites this season. <3

Time to revitalise this fan thread!

Zijun is in Japan right now competing at NHK! I wish her the best... As a fan of THE skater who loves all things bread, her most recent Instagram did make chuckle

Cutest Honey Melon bun ever in Japan. Too good to eat. I thought there were initially sheeps, but may be they are more like turtle? (Does that mean they make you even slower? Nooooo!!!!)

Her second instagram has a cute video of her pairs jumps with So Youn, they got some chemistry! :)

Now for a realistic finish @ NHK! Top 5 possible? I just want her to skate clean, and not having any more stamina issues! More Spinach and extra Red bull to give you wings! Go go Jun Jun!!

i was watching Mura's dark eyes SP, which reminds me of Zijun's fabulous Dark eye SP she performed also at NHK when she was only 15. Zijun was once a skater who also can skate to a music that "goes hundreds of miles an hour"...

I am feeling a bit bitter for Zijun, this is one of her best outings in ages, and they weren't too bad performance, I just think her PCS should be higher. What can she do now to improve judges impressions?

It'll probably come down to consistency and rotated jumps :/ Zijun isn't a very consistent skater and a lot of her jumps get UR marks. However, I also agree that her PCS should be higher. I loved her NHK performances!

I'm wishing zijun all the best for her upcoming competitions, but at this point I don't see her fullfill her potential at worlds. She has two gorgous programms this season, but she just doesn't take command over the ice. She needs to get that killer-instinct asap, plus better stamina - she looks so skinny and fragile and her movements all being graceful are lacking in power and attack. Go Zijun! Attack your programms! Give the judges a determined look or a killer-stare - they are not going to go easy on you, therefore you shouldn't be on them!

Seems like Zijun is going to Toronto mid-season right after NHK. Wonder what she is doing there. Change her choreo or even change her training club?

Numerous options:

1. Practice more on lutz edge and stamina, get jump underrotations fixed;

2. Change choreo in program to add more breathing room/attempt to up PCS;

3. Get a new LP.

Out of those three, I'm guessing 1 and (more importantly) 3. Lori tried to give Zijun a new style of music this year to try and push her out of her comfort zone, but it doesn't suit her and her FS score has taken a huge hit in the process. I think they might go back to something soft and nice again.

Guys, why is this place so quite as if nothing related to Zijun happened, but you see she has been nominated as a candidate to represent Asia in Team Challenge, a newly created event like World Team Trophy in Japan. The voting for her among the three candidate is shockingly so low (actually the lowest). I thought she has more recognition among figure skating fans compared to the other skaters, because her senior debut was earlier than the two and her 2013 showing was marvelous. The other candidates are also great (I like them as well) but this challenger is not only a good opportunity for Zijun to expose herself to North American figure skating fans, but also to get ample prize money. If you're a lurker of this thread, and haven't a chance to cast a vote yet, please do. :)

the sad truth about this is that just check out Zijun's vote even in China.
Figure skating is a very, very niche sports in China....
but it is growing slowly.

I know, but her fans are not limited to China..Besides, I think we would have a lot of slow voters since this is a kind of semi-off break before Junior or Senior Worlds, so they can look into GS forums during Weekends or later on. That's why I wrote the post. :biggrin:

zijun's new documentary in Chinese
http://m.hunantv.com/#/play/3004688

they talked about the hardship to control weight during puberty, Zijun was even controled in water intake... (I seriously think China needs more advanced science/technique in how they train their athletes.)
another cute scene. a little girl ask Zijun how to correct wrong lutz edge, Zijun felt ashamed, palm face, but nevertheless gave some tips regarding that to this little girl.
