Tatiana Volosozhar & Maxim Trankov

Thank you for sharing your impressions, Nessie! That's a very interesting read. :agree: (And it's also great to hear that Tanya and Max seem to be in a perfect shape  )

Good! Glad you enjoyed it. I must say all I can think about since Friday is skating... and more skating...

Thank you for your report, Nessie! I'm glad to hear all three Mozer teams are in good form, especially V/T! I'd love for V/T and S/K to both be on the podium, preferably 1-2. Obviously I'd love V/T to be #1, but I'd be pleased with either order.

Does anyone else have an ideal/dream podium for Worlds? Mine is:

1) V/T
2) S/K
3) S/H

I'd also like T/M to have a good showing.

My dream podium is like yours, though I have a feeling Sui/Han will take the world title. V/T mighy get silver or bronze. I really hope that S/K can deliver like they did at GPF, and if they do, I don't mind it if they even win over V/T.

All in all, I really hope a russian team will win Worlds.

I totally agree with you two.
My dream podium is

1.V/T
2.S/K
3.S/H

I saw in other thread, there's World championship prediction. Most of them still think V/T will win, while another said S/H will. IMO if our V/T skate clean, they will take the world title.

I saw that thread. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of people predicting V/T to win. I think they definitely have a great chance of winning. Realistically though, considering that this is their comeback season after Max's serious injury, any medal at Worlds should be considered a huge achievement for them. I don't think any other top skater on the comeback trail this season has been as successful as them!

Absolutely, I remember they said in interview that their main goal this year is European Champion and they got it (actually they won every competitions this year:))
For World2016, It would be wonderful if they win.

Yes, considering how serious Max's injury was, their season so far has been amazing. It would be incredible if they could win Worlds and thus be undefeated, but there's certainly no shame for them if they don't end up winning.

Someone very kind named Carla (from V/T official fan group on facebook) translated their recent "Hello" Magazine interview.
From their words there I get the feeling that their main focus now is their home and future family.

Q: Looking ahead, what are your plans for the 2018 Olympics? You are going to participate?
Tatiana: "The desire is there, but we'll see. After all, there are many factors that could affect our decision, from pregnancy to, for example, an injury. It's possible to simply not pass the selection for the team. So athletes, being superstitious people, never say: «Yes, I'm going to participate in the next Olympics»."

Q: I wonder if the preparation for the competition begins and suddenly the 'pregnancy factor' comes into play, will it be a pleasant surprise?
Maxim: "Very pleasant. Gold medals we already have but a kid not yet."

Another phrase by one of them: "If we have to choose between a child's birth and the performance at the 2018 Olympics, we, of course, will choose to have a child."

Who knows, maybe their choice to stay in the sport in a way to thank the fans and federation for all of the support since 2010.

When they started competing this season, they used to say that having a child can be postponed until Olympics 2018. Everything may change, I agree with you that from this interview, I felt like they seem focus on family issue. However, I respect and support all their decision.

ps. IMO, I still doubt that Russian federation will force them to stay in sport until there's another pairs completely replace them? (may be S/K).:scratch2:

Monwara the federation won't force a pregnant woman to play at the Olympics are you kidding :) It is a sport the federation won't die if they retire.

"Gold medals we have, but a kid not yet." This really says it all. I suspect they will not stay in the game for the 2018 Olympics.

I didn't mean when Tatiana's pregnant. I just doubt if their condition is normal.

Sorry for my misunderstanding😁
I may go across the line, It's their right to stay or retire.😉

In some respects I think V+T are still “in it” to test themselves and take their career to the maximum. But there must be a point when flying all over the world, training over and over and isn’t fun anymore. The hotel where they are staying in New Jersey one guest described as “terrible” and I can’t imagine that the food out there is up to par. And West Orange is suburbia – not exactly Manhattan….

And from their Instagram account, it seems that they have a lovely house in what looks like a nice area in Moscow. It’s the kind of place one doesn’t want to leave – it’s a real home. They have traveled to how many countries – 20? 30? More? Hotels, traveling can become tedious.

And what about the judges? As they weigh their scoring, don’t they want to offer hope and chances to other skaters, to keep the sport alive and stimulating? There are other brilliant athletes who deserve recognition and I can’t believe a bronze or a silver would be of particular interest to V+T at this point. Like any athlete or performer they probably enjoy the adulation and admiration from their audiences – but they must know that in time they will be beaten by skaters who are in their prime and who can toss off a quad throw like it’s nothing.

Max has already referred to himself as ‘old.’ And they have been saying that they are still skating because TANYA loves skating. Note -- Max has not said that HE still loves skating. Oh, and some people said that V+T have been marked generously this year -- but of course they didn't have much competition. And V+T keep using the term “family.” Family is really more than two people (two people are a ‘couple’) and if this is their frame of mind, these signs show that they are getting closer and closer to starting a real family. They’ve added a fabulous cat, but a child has gotta’ be next!

And by the way, I’m glad to see that some people wouldn’t mind if Stolbova and Klimov win. I wouldn’t mind that either. V+T are still “my skaters” but others have worked for years too to achieve their goals.

We will see. Hope they do a good competition next week.
I don't know them personally so I decline commenting on a very personal subject as pregnancy. It is very very personal.
Stolbova and Klimov problem is not Tatiana and Maxim. It is their inconsistency and psychological problems.
Tatiana and Maxim problem is not Stolbova/Klimov it is their advancing age relative to sport age in general.

Quite right, the matter of having children is indeed personal. However, Tanya and Max themselves have introduced the subject innumerable times so such plans and talk of having a family are, at this point, fair game for speculation. I don't think I have discussed the issue recklessly. It is clearly something they think is worthy to mention.

I don't know where to begin, but I will give it a try.

First: Since when is family defined real only when there is a kid? Tell that to the millions of newlyweds each year: "Oh, by the way, I am marrying you two, but just so you know, you are not a real family until you have a kid! Yeah!" So I suppose I should decrease my anniversary count by 10 years because I did not have kids for the first 10 years of my married life. Good to know! It will make me feel 10 years younger if nothing else. :)

Second and somewhat OTT, but I could not resist: is "suburbia" a code word for bad living conditions over where you live? Note to myself: Get out of suburbia ASAP. Then again, the most affluent people do live in suburbia out here, but I guess they did not know better. :)

Third: I did not know it was the judges job to offer hope. That would be much better found within a church. The judges' only job is to judge the performance of the athletes on the day of competition. No more, no less.

Fourth: Who are the those brilliant athletes that could toss a quad throw like it is nothing? The only ones that come to mind are Sui/Han. And lets ask them if it is like nothing for them. Sui is going to have a major operation because of it.

Fifth: Max has never said that he loves skating. In fact in all his interviews before, around and after OG he insisted he hates figure skating as well as he says any number of other things. Yet, he stays in figure skating and intends to stay in it one way or another. Anyone, make your own conclusions from that. :)

Sixth: Max and Tania have not been marked generously this year. For generous marks see the silver medalists on EC and GPF marks. That is generous.

Seventh: So just because someone has worked for years, Tania and Max, who by the way have probably worked even harder should step aside? Nice! And is that the message from their fans that they will be overwhelmed to see in their fan thread? I so hope they never come here to read.

Wow -- you certainly have interesting takes on everything! It's a good defense on many issues! I have to think about much of what you said -- but thanks for the response....You're a tough cookie!.... and I mean that in a good way...

Sooo sorry I might be very very shy every issue is very personal to me sorry

It's okay -- you don't have to apologize. We all have different opinions and ways of viewing things. Your thoughts are as legitimate as mine! It's just nice to discuss all these things....
