2016 Team Challenge Cup - Gen Info/Pre-chat

Votes for Radionova were not originally "spite" votes. Votes for Kuchvalska (the SK ones) were. People clicking on Kuchvalska are not voting for, they are voting against. They would'n give a care if it was any other woman.

Is it serious, or are you joking/trolling? Man, you seriously believe that a lady, who placed 4-th in the Europeans can't have supporters, only "bots" and those who vote against russians? You are funny, man...

For those, who are thinking, that Angelina could not have so much votes without bots and cheating - please answer how could Elena recieve near 5000 votes during just one last night? Take aт unbiased look at the situation - the cheating takes place on each side

I don't understand the double standard :dev2: in this thread:

When Radionova leaps ahead by many thousands of votes within a very short period of time (as she has just now), the speed at which those votes for her pile up does not get questioned by anyone in this thread. No accusations that bots are responsible.

The B word gets used only when Kuchvalska is the one who gains ground within a short period of time.

You right, man... Double standarts are having place there..

Actually, Tyranid is most likely right. Of course the 4th lady at Euros can have fans and most countries actually seem to reflect that. But Korea? That's an obvious case of voting against. And if there are 15 000 genuine support votes and 50 000 against-someone-else votes, then you're leading because of against votes.

That said, Kuchvalska is my favorite of the 3 choices so I will only thank the crazy Korean fans. Though I do wish they didn't have such clicky fingers genuinely voting for their own So Youn Park because I'd rather watch Rika Hongo but oh well. Can't have eveything.

Huh? 5000 votes is nothing. That's 100 votes from 50 people. Doable in an hour or two by incognito mode or clearing cookies.

Man... there's long time passed after Sochy - the Koreans had calmed down about that)

There are many votes for Angelina from my country Ukraine. So according to your logic - we, ukraininans, are also bots or cheaters?)))

Sorry, the poll results strongly suggest that there is a good number who didn't.

Did you read the part where I made the exception for Korea and said that most countries seem to reflect genuine preferences? Because I wrote that.

Yep, I've red that, but here we go - the results in Ukraine (near 15000 votes total):

78% for Angelina

14% for Eugenia

8% for Elena

So what?

So either Ukranians really like Kuchvalska or that the voting is strongly political. And since the, tension, to put it mildly, between Russia and Ukraine is a fact, the latter is just as plausible as the former if not more.

EDIT: Wait, don't answer that. I just actually looked at the stats and the map is completely ****** up. My map shows 49% for Kochvalska in Russia which is like, what the hell.

How are some of you voting more than once so often lol? No judgement--it just seems like a lot of work.

To be fair those numbers are definitely representative of much fewer people than they appear. Not to say there isn't bitterness about Sochi but not many people care about figure skating right now to explain the thousands of votes.

Reminder that general anti-Russian sentiment isn't actually prevalent in Korea. So it's not like that's compelling people to participate in poll they don't care about either.

No worries, I'm perfectly aware of both. The power of a passionate one, whether for good or ill, is greater that of an indifferent one.

Back to trying to figure out what happened to Kuchvalska votes in Russia because these are some impressive numbers she's sporting there, second only to the So Youn/Rika battle.

The 'passionate one' seems to be using a VPN :noshake:

This is so true!

At first I thought the whole voting thing was stupid, but now I see the cleverness of the event organizers. The crazy voting has kept this thread at the top of the page for two weeks while we are waiting for Worlds to begin. Without it, we would probably have forgotten all about the TCC.

I agree with this. Since this is a newly created event, not a serious ISU competition just like Japan's WTT that I've never seriously cared, I couldn't understand why so many people are upset about the voting system and the ongoing results.

However, I can understand now why the vote page says "Vote often" (how strange it sounds as generally online voting confines one user per one IP address one time) because it generates attention anyhow whether it leads positive or negative debates or concerns. The method still makes the voters stay in tune: watching the whole progress until the actual competition starts. How clever the tactic is when it comes to promotion.

I found this in wiki about voting.
A vote is a formal expression of an individual's choice in voting, for or against some motion (for example, a proposed resolution), for or against some ballot question, for a certain candidate, a selection of candidates, or a political party.

There is nothing wrong about voting against I guess.
We all have equal opportunities. Koreans make the most of their opportunities but others don't bother to make the best use of those.

Well, I wonder why people were so upset about Sochi then... Russia just made most of their opportunities ;)

I am personally not happy about this voting as i do like voting where each individual formally expresses their choice and that is counted once. When you have a small group of people screaming noisely and imposing their choice on everybody else, thats just so far from democracy and fairness.

UPD: Also, as a side note, Radionova and Medvedeva did nothing wrong to Koreans, so why are the Koreans voting against them? Oh we know why. For the same reason they write awful comments under Sotnikova's videos. That may be ok under the definition of vote, but still very shady.

Also, I'm Radio's fan, and i do worry she may suffer same fate of Sotnikova if she ends up being selected to go to TCC. No human being deserves that.

I don’t understand why you brought up sochi issue in here. Russian fans made most of their opportunities??? WRONG. STRONG FEDS DID.
Skaters from Strong feds have many opportunities like Team Trophy in Japan. Other small feds skaters only can have this chance by the devoted fans. You don't even give that opportunities to the fans. Those chances are not only given to korean fans but also russian fans. If you are a Radio fan, fight for her chance instead of criticizing other fans who are using their only chances.

One more night passed by and +10000 more votes for Radionova...if it's not cheating/bots then what it is?

By the way... About those, who wotes for Angelina - there can be not only her personal suppirters, but those who want to give an opportunity to the girl from a small fed. Look - the russian ladies have a powerfull support from their fed - financial, facilities and so on and in small feds like, Latvia, I know, there are problems with ice. For example - as I know from the interviews, Angelina has only 8-10 hours of ice trainings per week), with financial support of figure skating, with facilities etc... So maybe the voters for Angelina, who are not her personal supporters, just want to support the girl from small country and small fed...

This tournament is something like "international friendly" in soccer - so why are you so serious about it?

Whats wrong about someone making most of their opportunities? Why ok for fans not ok for fed?

As for Radio... I voted for her. Once =) Sorry, not going to cheat by voting over 9999 times to get my favourite skater in. And will remain condemning all cheaters, including whoever voted 9999 times on Radio.

Hmmm Where are the votes? I checked the countries i remember, no weird activity there (but then its just SA and doesnt impact much) ... Kinda wonder who is voting then.
Also, rather than number than votes, its interesting to keep track of the percentages too. If radio got extra 10k, but other skaters got similar numbers, maybe just lots of people voting.

Why OK for fans Not OK for FEDS? Are you kidding me? Do you even realize there are some differences between Strong feds and weak feds? Do you think Weak Feds even got a chance to make the most of their opportunities? We fans can have the equal opportunities about this vote at least but not the event run by the authorities..

There would be no voting event in near future because the royals in figure skating world got disturbed by Fan Vote thing. I guess this event would be the first and the last event.
