Madison Chock & Evan Bates

Thank you, Doris!

There is only a small group of us here at GS Forum who are maddeningly cheering for Maddie & Evan.

You know, while I agree we are a small group of people who are 'really' rooting for them very much, I think that it's easy sometimes to get the wrong idea about what's really going on because there is a small (they really are small, smaller than the group of us who is really rooting for them) but unfortunately very vocal group of people who say incredibly nasty things. I truly don't think those people outnumber us, I think they are just more vocal, especially when Maddie and Evan do something offensive to them, like win. If you ignore the outright negativity and just read other comments I think you'll see that more people here than is initially obvious at least feel vaguely warm toward these two and/or at least respect their technical skills.

So basically, just fly your Maddie/Evan flag high, and maybe more people will join than you initially thought :)

Wishing C/B a great SD today! I'll be flying to Boston tonight and can't wait to see the free dance :cheer:

Maddie and Evan are in third, but did earn their season's best SD score. One thing I haven't seen mentioned that much is how much their twizzles have improved this year! They really get some decent ice coverage on the second set of twizles now and have enough congrol to do nice arm motions during them. I feel that they still wish they were doing their original SD from Skate America, but this new one has grown on me and they were much better than at 4ccs.

I hope their FD tomorrow will be amazing!!

Thank you, Doris!

I am happy with 3rd place going into FD. Actually came here first to check fan report before I checked the official results.

Please cheer as hard as you can after their FD. You guys too, 'Solar and Georgia' wherever you are sitting. Let's Rach it, baby!!

Looking forward to tonight's FD, and wishing Madi & Evan their very best performance of the season! I'm cautiously optimistic they'll be on the podium!

I, too, try to ignore the nasty comments about C/B, and just focus on the positive comments. While frustrating, it doesn't do any good to get upset about it. They will be my favorites no matter what anyone else thinks or says, so that's all that really matters.

Yes, I've noticed there's a lot more attack on the twizzles. Last season, their twizzles were competent, but somewhat conservative. I think it's smart for Maddie and Evan to start pushing themselves on the twizzles this season. It may lead to more errors now, but they could reap the rewards in the next two years of the quad.

I've learned to ignore the nasty comments but, anyway, I can't help but be amused by the Brit's commentators comment before the SD score of C/B was announced - I think it's Nick Slater (?) who said where did that score of 74.7 (Shibs') come from. LOL.

That "ballroom feel" the Brits mentioned, and their ability to hit the beat and so connect to the throbbing heart of the music, are two prime qualities that I so value about their dancing.

just saw their short program at worlds 2016. Yes there was a slight bobble in the twizzle for evan, but I would have put them first ahead of Maia and Alex! :)

WOW and more WOW, that was such a mesmerizing performance  (I secretly wish they got silver ;))

It was wonderful! The lifts were especially good! The attack was excellent! I hope they go for a more interesting (and less borderline) spin next year though.

After the year they've had, bronze was a real achievement. :cheer:

First time seeing Madison and Evan live and it didn't disappoint! I'm very glad they landed on the podium in Boston. Two teams from the US on the podium! That's a great accomplishment :)

Wow! What a stunning FD. So passionate yet tasteful and wonderfully contained ... controlled. By far, their best performance of this FD. To quote Tarasova _ 'Bravo!" Can't believe they just got a bronze from this competition.

The French were great but 118? Seriously overscored! And the Shibs and C/B were so closed score-wise _ almost a half point separating them. Me thinks the judges carefully scored them close for a reason .... In my mind, C/B should have scored better technically and artistically. Anyway, am happy that after a very difficult and frustrating season, they made it to the podium even though it is not the right spot. :hap93:
