He did well! A bit shame about his jump and spin, but he didn’t fall! He's 4th and have the chance of podium.
Good luck for your FS, Shoma!:clapper:
(And Japanese guest commentator was Daisuke Takahashi whom Shoma respects. I haven't watched the video yet but i'm interested in Daisuke's words about shoma!)

I loved Shoma's SP. Unfortunate on the 3-3. Does anyone know if Daisuke is in Boston?...I still am hoping for a medal for Shoma. Anything can happen!

Probably so. Daisuke seems to be in Boston with Honada-san, the announcer, etc.

He can do in FS. Go, Shoma!

Darn - was hopiing maybe to see Dai...Will be cheering for Shoma. Love his FS and wish him lots of luck.

Daisuke said like this,:)

"It’s nice that he started relaxed at the first half. The miss of combination jumps is a bit shame, but his body moved well and it will be a good sign towards FP.”

Further, the abstract of Shoma’s comment after SP.

“I feel a shame since I couldn’t get the performance as I wanted. The wrong part was jump and especially transition. I couldn’t fully give the transitions.
(After the lose of 4CC), I’ve worked hard considering for what I was doing figure skate. Now I couldn’t show what I’ve done. It’s regrettable. But I have another chance of FP and I shall keep it up. “

Thank you so much for your quick response and the added bonus of Shoma's words! It's much appreciated and I'm happy to hear that both Daisuke and Shoma, like the rest of us, still have faith that Shoma will do well in the FS.

I was so proud of how well Shoma did in his first Senior Worlds. I know he has some mistakes and was so sad in the KnC, but I hope he keeps a positive outlook for next season and beyond. There are so many great Olympic and World medalists (Joubert, Ten, Goebel, Lambiel - just naming a few) who did pretty terrible at their first Worlds. 7th place is a pretty great start to jump up from!

I hope Shoma does not beat himself up about his placement. He placed top ten and Japan has three spots for next season.
His first senior season has been outstanding!

I just want to say that Shoma was amazing on this event. No matter what, he is the future of the sport. I felt so bad when he was crying, but the only way I see him is improving and getting better and better and better. Congratulations to his team and his fans for the great support, please let him know we all love him and he is always a pleasure to watch. <3

I felt so sad for him with that sad face in the kissncry too. The boy can pout... I could almost see that lip quivering. But really, other than that quad miss, he did great! They secured 3 spots for Japan, he actually performed better than Yuzu, you can see his potential. He has a lot to be proud of. Keep your chin up, kid!

That quad fall was so painful that he even had to put his hand on his stomach for a second. But except for that, he did well. And I am proud of him. Don't cry. (But even when he was in tears, he looks cute)

My heart totally broke when I see him cry, he actually did well for his first world's, he didn't fall except for that 4T , and he helped Japan secure one more placing for next world's (which is extremely important as it determines the number of quota Japan has for next Olympics) I hope the Japanese media will not bash him or something and leave him alone

My first concern for Shoma is that he is not injured. I am happy with his skate. At the time I thought, he needs Hanyu to comfort him.

:clap::clap: Don't cry Shoma. You did your best and helped to regain 3 spots for Japan, should be very proud of yourself, instead.

I don't understand why they would. Honestly, would any other Japanese man do much better than what Shoma did this week? Mura (if he was still skating)? As much as I like Dice, I don't think he would have even cracked the top 10 here.

I hope that Yuzuru and Shoma have a good relationship and camaraderie. I bet Hanyu is proud that he and Shoma got Japan the third spot.

Hanyu may need some comforting from shoma as well I guess, they can comfort each other, they both need some comforting, they both did well, but had disappointments obviously. Wish both of them well for the coming seasons!

I felt bad too. Even his sweet coach didn't seem to be able to comfort him as she usually does. He had an amazing senior debut season. He has a great future.

The level of talent out on that ice tonight was phenomenal. What a gift these guys gave to us. I say everyone who stepped on the ice tonight was a winner...No tears Shoma. Hold your head high.

Thank you Shoma for holding it together as best as you can and regaining Japan's 3 spots! This is truly a win for the Japanese men even though I know individually they both don't feel it right now. His face during the kiss&cry absolutely broke my heart. I hope he trains well and stays healthy for next season!

They have known each other since they were kids and Yuzu has the reputation of liking to tease Shoma and pinch Shoma's chubby cheek. They always walk together to press con and to hotel. So I am sure they are on good terms.
