Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

GP assignments will be interesting, because only S/B & S/K are guaranteed 2 I think? I/Z are guaranteed 1 from the SB list, but should easily get 2 anyway. Then B/S are guaranteed one if they aren't suspended still (if her case isn't heard by the time assignments come out I guess they are out even if it's resolved later?), plus Popova/Vlasenko, Yanovskaya/Mozgov & Monko/Khaliavin (if her injuries are resolved). Do we know if Loboda/Drozd are going senior, because the fed would want to get them something as well. So thats a lot of teams with 1 spot, and the fed needs to be clever about its host spots to make sure as many as possible can have 2. Normally the highest finishing team/national champion would get CoR - maybe S/K would want it, but maybe the fed would rather use all the host spots to get as many of their teams out as possible, plus it would be more convenient for the teams actually based in Russia to have it.

If I/Z are staying with Igor, I hope they have something like SA & TEB so they aren't travelling all the time. NHK would also be good. And yes, I want them to do senior Bs! if they're already working on the FD, they should be ready to go for SLC, and then hopefully something else in Europe too. Mordavian Ornament would be helpful in terms of getting a good SB score - they still have the highest of any Russian team this year thanks to Saransk! - but Nebelhorn or Finlandia would probably allow them to get more realistic feedback.

After Junior Worlds Loboda/Drozd said that they want to stay Juniors. Anna Pogorilaya came very close to her scores from Saransk at Worlds. Ah, what could have been, if the National judges had rewarded the actual skating.
I think I/Z have a chance to get one of the COR spots. Last year, they invited the first, second and fourth placed team, so maybe it`s going to be SK, SB and IZ, if Bobrova gets a suspension. SA is also fine, it has usually an easier line-up compared to the other GPs and the scores tend to be high.

IZ will have 2 GP assignments for sure, because they had PB Scores at Mordovian Ornament. This event (MO) won't be in next season, because Saransk will be host city for one of Junior GP event. I think Nebelhorn will be good for them.

But they had to invite S/K, they left it as long as possible to see if they'd get assigned elsewhere but nothing opened up. I really think they'd rather not have all the teams facing off against each other before Nats. At most 2 of those 3 teams will be at CoR, and tbh I'd rather I/Z wasn't one of them, because due to seeding rules there will also be one of the Worlds medallists plus one from C/L, H/D and W/P. If the fed still decides to push S/K & S/B, I/Z could be buried (judging at CoR is always suspect!) NHK or TEB should be slightly less stacked.

Happy Birthday Ruslena! :)

We are so happy to have you. Hope many victories and success waits you around the corner lets say from the very start of the next season! :)

Non-touching step sequence in the SD is back :yes2::hap10:

Perfect for Ruslena! I loved their step sequence in Carmen, it really showed off their great skating skills.

I've actually missed the non touching sequence a lot, I am excited it is back, not just for them but in general :yahoo:

OT, is it this month or the next that we'll know if the coaching change was permanent or not?

Such a plus for these two. The really showcase their speed and edges in this sequence. Their non touching step for Carmen showed the generate power from their knees and their edging was sublime. Can't wait!

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!!!:yes2::party2: Have you guys ever see Lena dance Swing? She is perfection in a bottle, absolutely feels it and understands it to the core. I hope they do a blues swing mash up to show off their SKILLS!!!

Thank you.
And a belated happy 2-year anniversary to Ruslena! May they have great results this season. *toasts*

We'll find out if the coaching change is permanent at the end of May when they return to Moscow for their annual physical. That's when all transfers can be ratified by the FED.

Since Cristopher Dean is now in Novi, working with C/B on their program for SOI, may I hope that he will also somehow work with Ruslena? :)
It would be great, especially for Ruslan to work with him!

Are you sure Chock and Bates aren't in Colorado? Evan posted a pic with Max Aaron and Scimeca and Knierim
