Cool!!! I never saw that coffee emoticon before!!!

Thanks for the clarification, LRK. So, I got the wrong end of the stick yet again! :bang:

Sorry, I should have hunted out Mishin's statement to check exactly what he said. But, it's hard to find things in these big threads, and I was worried about getting everything done before my viewing started.

As for the TCC, I am completely lost with all the rules. It is just far too complicated. (And I thought the rules for the Olympic Team Event were bad enough - this is even worse!)

Sorry again.

CaroLiza_fan

No need to apologise. :) (Especially to me - I'm extremely absentminded, and you cannot believe the ridiculous situations I've got myself into as a result!;))

As for TCC - I'm again probably the last person who should attempt to clarify anything! - but in all the categories, there are two skaters/teams (pairs/ice dance) invited based on, I believe, the World standings as of Jan 1, and these have to be from two different countries. In addition there is one third, extra, skater in the singles categories up for vote - and these have to be chosen from the skaters attending Worlds'.

As you would say - Hope this helps.:) (And if not, at least, I hope it doesn't hinder.;))

I'll keep it simple, CaroLiza_fan :)

Main team was selected based on rankings at January 1. Just as Jason was the highest-ranked US man at January 1, Liza was the highest-ranked European lady at January 1. So Liza was named to Team Europe in the main team.

For the fan-vote, it is required that the candidate be a Worlds competitor. So Liam is no longer allowed because Skate Canada are a pack of bleeps. That is how Max and Adam are nominated for voting.

Thanks LRK and karne.

So, I got the basics right, but it was the fine details that I got mixed up in.

That the World Standings were taken from 1st January means that everything makes sense now. When I was looking up the World Standings as part of the research for my 4 Continents predictions, I remember being surprised that Liza was still at the top of the table, and Zhenya wasn't even in the Top 5. Of course, after 4 Continents, Sakoto has now taken the top spot off Liza, but Zhenya is still down in 6th position.

So, that would explain why Liza was an automatic choice for the TCC and Zhenya wasn't.

I've made it clear in other parts of the forum (frquently!), but I really don't like the TCC rules. And now that I know that the requirements to be eligible are different depending on whether you are automatically selected or are put through to the public vote, I like them even less. It should be the same requirements for everybody.

For the fan-vote, it is required that the candidate be a Worlds competitor. So Liam is no longer allowed because Skate Canada are a pack of bleeps.

Now, now karne. That isn't a very nice thing to say. :disapp:

In this case, though, it's true! :agree:

Getting the conversation back to Liza, she posted this photo on Instagram last night:

It's a nice trophy, but does anybody know what it was for? ...

The prize is from the Federation of Sports Journalists of Russia.

Liza was one of the ten recipients (from a variety of sports) for 2015. The ceremony took place yesterday, Mar 16.

More information (in Russian) about the award:

Am I the only one here who is devastated by Liza's admission?

Her remark has been referred so many times, so I've opted not to add anything to the topic here and other else.

I wish I see her at this Worlds. Until the final result of the ladies' competition comes out, she is still a reigning World champion.

Do you mean the MeldoniumGate? Because I actually really admire her for that admission. Every world class athlete takes something, whether it's just vitamin supplements (or more). I understand the benefits of meldonium but it's not like her flawless jumping technique was drug induced. Yes, the drug helps with muscle recovery (which is why it was banned, I guess), but there is nothing shameful in taking it when it was allowed.

But there is no point arguing with people who already hate Liza and are just looking for new ammunition (you know, the whole 'Liza ain't artistic' gets boring after a while). If you are one those people, please, this a FanFest, a place where people share positive and encouraging things regarding specific skater (I see this was your first post so it's entirely possible that you are unaware of how things work in this kind of thread). If you just want to talk smack about Liza then please go to other threads, I'm sure there are plenty of people who will be happy to discuss that with you.

I hope you don't take those previous words as an attack against you. I'm sure you meant nothing bad but all this 'Let's kick into Liza when she's down' in other threads, when she did NOTHING wrong and was just honest drives me nuts.

Me too. And I bet many of the people who bought tickets as well. I guess we all hoped to see Liza end season on high note :sad21:

Yes, I had been comforting myself with TCC for all the disappointments..

But her health is paramount, of course. There's no sense in pushing through injury for a competition like TCC - which is more for fun (whih, of course, is the exact reason i wanted her to go... ), performing badly and risking aggravating her injury. It would just be a lose-lose situation.

But... that's my reason speaking. I'm still terribly disappointed and wish things had been different.

Get well, Liza! Rest & take care of yourself and come back next season! You'll aways be my Queen.:)

Sad to hear that, but she really needs time to rest her body to get healed completely, so that her injury can't affect her next seasons.

Get well soon, Liza. I hope she gets enough rest before her next season, and has time to choose programs that suit her.

Much better to be injured now than later, when the next season starts.

Also, is her name Tukta-mee-sheva or Tukta-moo-sheva? Cause I've been hearing it said both ways...

It's something in between 'oo' and 'ee' (a "close central unrounded vowel" to be precise). Your mouth is supposed to wide (as if you're smiling) and not rounded, so approximating an 'ee' would probably be more accurate, considering it's a difficult vowel to learn if you don't already have it in your native language.
