That food gets to you after awhile. Twice we ended up getting on the subway, going one stop, and going to get real food over at Faneuil Hall. Considering we barely saw the light of day in 4 days, it felt good to get away from the rink.

Yes I did this pretty often too, but many times I'd go to the train station and just buy water because I was constantly thirsty! That's one thing about going to practices and competition all day then coming back to your hotel at night when your curtains are already drawn you rarely ever see daylight. For anyone who has been to competitions I'm curious if it always feels that dark inside.

I did see the "Pooh Couple" several times. During the men's SP I sat 6th row and were in front of me, they wore custom Yuzuru sweatshirts and wore the Pooh ears every day. I heard they were from California. During the SP I could just barely make myself out in the broadcast tossing my gift on the ice (my head wasn't in the frame). I think they probably caught me in photos/video during the FS too since I saw the media take photos of Javi's family who I somehow ended up sitting next to (and Miki). I haven't been able to bring myself to re-watch much of the men's free skate so I really have no idea.

Back to the question about Yuzu fans, he definitely has a ton of Asian and Asian-American and Asian-Canadian fans, but he has a lot of other non-Asian fans as well (at least that showed up in Boston). A lot of the fans from Japan seemed to bring little Yuzu related gifts with them. The girl who sat next to my all-event seat had printed these photos and I saw someone else with a custom made pencil pouch (I really wanted to ask her if I could have one too). Yuzu definitely has a lot of devoted fans, and many of them are really friendly.

I'm starting to write down my experience in Boston, if anyone's curious about the first day of practice you can read it in my first entry under 3/28 here: http://kichessarjilian.tumblr.com/post/142671055699/2016-world-championships-experience-part-1

I also have a somewhat funny story about trying to find Winnie the Pooh plush in Boston during the break which I'll probably write about later.

Yeah was is Pamigena or someone mentioned that Japanese fans brought his Lotte clear files and gave them to other fans at GPF.

I've seen a lot of Yuzu fanmade items on the internet...like cards, keychain, cases etc. etc. I believed Yuzu's merchandise, line of skating clothing etc etc would sell through the roof if there ever is one. I really want his costumes water bottle covers :luv17:

This is one fan from Canada who enjoys Yuzu more than other skaters... I don't think you can generalize Canadians or Americans by saying we prefer refined skaters either... this is the country that adored Elvis Stojko after all...

In general, people appreciate athletes from their own countries even if the athletes don't fit their taste. But they only appreciate foreign athletes who match their taste, values and aesthetics. If you conduct a survey on the demographics of Yuzu's fans, the number of his fans in the USA and Canada would found to be significantly less than the number of his fans in Europe and Asia. How many posters in this thread are Americans or Canadians? (Golden skate is a USA and Canada based forum, but most of the posters in Yuzuru's fan thread are Asians and Europeans.) How many America and Canadian posters in Golden Skate forum are actually yuzuru's fans? It's a very small percentage. (The percentage in FSUniverse is even smaller.) At events held in Asia and Europe, you can find 70-80% (maybe even a higher percentage) of the fans in the arena are yuzuru's fans. But at events held in Canada or USA, maybe only 20%-30% of the fans in the arena are Yuzuru's fans. (The % is just for illustration purpose. I don't know the exact figure.) It's like he is competing at home in any competition held in Asia or Europe, but he is competing in a foreign country when the competition is held in the USA or Canada. His programs are super risky and he faces enormous expectation and pressure (especially after 2014). He is very sensitive. When his mind is slightly off or disturbed, it will lead to big mistakes.

Despite his fight in 2011 GPF and 2013 WC, he was off podium in both competitions. (He is always low-balled in Canada even when he skates decently.)

I was browsing through the fan fests and here's a fun fact: Yuzuru's fan thread was apparently only the third fan thread created at this forum, after Yuna Kim's and one Melissa Bulanhagui's. Even before the powerhouses of that time like Daisuke Takahashi. Huh, who would have thought.

Another fun fact: Yuzu's thread was opened by the Canadian fan :)
I remember it ,then I was out from GS for a couple of years and came back with new nick as I forgot old password :)

Honestly Yuzu has the brightest smile in those photos! :luv17: He can totally be a popular model aside from figure skating! (he kind of is already, lol ... judging by how many photoshoots he already had for various magazines)

Although it seems to be a given for many people to support first and foremost skaters from their own country, I would find it rather narrow-minded and frightening if that was the ultimate motivation. There are many reasons why we support skaters, at least I very much hope so. I'm German, living in England and as a general rule I support Canadian skaters unless they really don't do it for me (that very rarely happens). I love Yuzu because he is undoubtedly an absolute outstanding skater and has already made history. I also love the fact that he belongs to Team Orser. Well, he is one reason why they are so special, but I would support them anyway through thick and thin because of....Brian Orser! Lots of reasons why we love a particular programme, costumes, music and, most of all, the skaters themselves. I even support two pairs from different countries, even though their rivalry is tearing me apart. Let's enjoy what we want to enjoy, without a national flag attached to it.

:agree:
His photos either photo shoot, competition, practice or just-not-doing-anything are so asthetically beautiful. He does not even need to pose for someone to capture a great shot.

It was my 2nd time at Worlds....and here are some of my memorable moments.https://sportymags.wordpress.com/2016/04/11/yuzuru-hanyu-2016-worlds-memorable-moments/

"There are people that are naturally photogenic, and then there is Yuzu!! Holy cow! Every shot, whether it is blurry or crystal clear, Yuzu appears as adorable as ever."

We love to see the photos :hap85:

This photo is amazing

My lord, Yuzuru is so so real in this photosession. So natural on every photo. All of his photosessions are always great and impressive but then here comes one of those "maximum reality" ones that capture his very nature, it seems so to me  also in style which suits him.

PHOTOS & VIDEOS

in this video, after all the guys started he was like “just wait a biit! “ haha and ended up appearing with the ladies
(and to me, he looks shining as the same as those ladies maybe because with that costume?)

Thigh muscle, manly chest, curve body, fiercing face... and more. What more you can get in one picture http://i.imgur.com/G6PXyng.jpg

That (sort of) music video "ONE OK ROCK featuring Yuzuru Hanyu" was so funny.
I have been very sad during the past week, but watching this, I just couldn't stop laughing and began to feel better.
Thank you Kiritori TV. I hope there will be a whole clip soon so that all of you can see this great hilarious PV.
I am still laughing...

Here is the Kiritoru -Yuzu cilps. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x42q1j9_160407-krtr_sport

It's a sports program that reads lips of various athletes and collects other interesting sports footage. Since Yuzu talks to himself all the time, he appears regularly.

This is the lyrics of "Kanzen Kankaku Dreamer" Yuzuru was singing with the Japanese parts translated into English. http://lyricstranslate.com/en/kanzen-kankaku-dreamer-完全感覚ドリーマー-complete-awareness-dreamer.html

I saw this photo today and it made me cry thinking of all the sweat, tears and pain he's gone through.

About hana-ni-nare, have you watched this performance(May 2014 hachinohe PI) ?
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2yjeua
I love this version most about hana-ni-nare! It’s a shame images are rough and commentators are noisy, but this performance, this camera work, venue lighting, shining yuzu.. All of them, my favorite!

My favourite "Hana ni Nare" performances of Yuzuru's is probably from the gala of NHK Trophy in 2012 and even more so at the gala of Japanese Nationals 2012 where it was expressed and performed so beautifully! Another one of my all-time favourites of his special performances is: Hana wa Saku (original ver); it's also very beautiful, especially the lighting!
I just saw this tweet again (fancam gala practice Worlds2015). I realized I have not seen gala practice 2016 fancam.

NEWS, ARTICLES & TRANSLATION

Comparison of the top men transitions, it's true that Yuzuru has no more than 7 crossovers in his SP. And he has all types of turns. WOW!

Last question at Worlds FP Small Medal ceremony Q&A:

Which programme in your career do you love the most?

Yuzuru: I love this season’s programmes, both the short and the free. At this moment, these are the 2 that I love best. If I think about my career, …mmm….. it’s the one that you all probably know, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ which I did in Nice. The most enjoyable ones were 'Sing Sing Sing’ and 'Change’. So I think it’s something like that. But what I love the most now is still 'SEIMEI’ and ‘Ballade No.1′.

"Hello everyone. This is Yuzuru Hanyu. Thank you for cheering me on again this season. This season I was able to make some world records and skate perfectly. I feel I was able to do this because you were all cheering me on. I am going to train very hard and do more difficult things technically and keep challenging myself. I hope you'll keep cheering me on!" - Translation by Ayako Nakamura @YHIFG FB

Also back to the topic of costumes, my top 3 favourite costumes from him are:

Do you know what has happened to this this chat room?

This site is yuzu's Korean Fan page. Previously Chat room is open to public, but some reason (ex. defend from trolls) it was turned to membership.. In this Chat room, there are various topic chat about yuzu whatever (competition, program, broadcasting, twitter issue, fan art, ice show, costume, news, magazine, translation, banquet pictures, other skater, ticketing etc.) like this forum thread. But I recently can't visit this site... I have a feeling to say so many things in this forum haha.. But I'm not represent of Korean fans, just one of them.

Do you read Japanese and do you have friends or relatives who live in Japan? If you do you can think of using this site to get ticket.
https://ticketcamp.net/fantasy-on-ice-tickets/event-230241/
Yes this is a kind of auction site, but quite popular and safe. You can read the description yourself, but basically they charge to your card when you bid down the ticket, but the ticket camp corporation holds the money for you before giving it to the one who put the ticket to the site for sale. And as you receive the ticket you notify the office and they will forward the money to the seller. The price posted is the final price and it will not go higher than that. Me and my fiends used the system before and never had trouble. The system is the established one so not scam.
The price for the show in Makuhari is most expensive because it is close to Tokyo. The one in other cities are less. Depending on your travel plan , you can choose which venue to go.
