Trail of Yuzuru Hanyu where I've captured the places where Yuzu left his marks.

Anybody knows the exact venue of NHK 2015 (Nagano) and GPF 2015 (Barcelona)? I want to add these to the blog, the places where he set the world records :agree:

Edit to add: I welcome input of other places associated with Yuzu or where he made history or left his marks etc. Thank you.

NHK was at the Big Hat arena :agree:

The thing is that Tohoku still has trouble attracting tourists because of 2011. So, I understand officials wanting to promote Sendai.
I personally want to visit Sendai and Tohoku region badly, and not just because of Yuzu. But no agency in my country is offering to visit this region...😔

Tohoku has some good spot (Zao village, Matsuo mine, Hachinohe...) , but Sendai... no

About “Sendai guide book”(http://photo.kahoku.co.jp/graph/2016/04/13/01_20160413_11014/001.html), this article says there are huge numbers of requests (*this book is sent by airmail without charge per to request)for the book!
They started booking on April 12, and on next April 13, they knew they’d already got over 7000 requests! Just in a day! Crazy!

They have only 1000 to distribute, so the lottery will be held.

The due date of the request is April 30. How many requests will be there until the deadline?

wow, it's gonna be a fierce battle to get one of those books

Sendai is not usually known for the beauty spots. It's more of a industry area. But there are temples, waterfalls, nature and the sea-side you can visit. -And Yuzu.

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g298249-Activities-Sendai_Miyagi_Prefecture_Tohoku.html Places to see in Sendai

ofcourse it has some spot, but not really worth to visit, except its holy city of Yuzu fan.
Im living in Nagoya, its the industry heart of japan, but still has more place to visit than Sendai, and from Nagoya, you can go to Wakayama, Takayama, Shiragawako, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Mie,... all is worldwide famous spot in just 1-2 hours :D

Well, i've only been living in sendai for this past 6 months, but i like it very much 😁 For me, I think Sendai's beauty is those that are understated, and calm. It's a really good place to live i think : calm, not hectic, nice people, nice air, great food, and also, the living cost here is comparably cheaper than other big city in japan (most important for dirt poor student like me he3). My friends who came to sendai said sendai is a good place just to calmly relieve from hectic life and stress. Maybe that the angle sendai gov aims for. Plus its Yuzu!!! Totally justified 😁😁😁

I think every city in japan has some place like you describe :D, Im living in 3rd biggest city in Japan, and around my house is hill and mountain :D, very quite and calm, near my house is small park and small river.
Actually even Tokyo has place that very calm, and surround by mountain

We also went to most of the places you listed (Shirakawago is a-ma-zing) but that doesn't have to keep one from going elsewhere, too. Like I said, not every famous spot must appeal to everyone, but it really comes down to personal preferences. A friend of mine also went to Japan last year. The things she liked best were the rabbit island and the kitty temple. When I came back and told her about all the pretty, pretty gardens I have seen, she basically asked if someone had brainwashed me over there, because she could think of a million things more interesting than gardens. (If I ever go back, I can easily see myself spend a whole day only in Okayama Korakuen. It's a gorgeous place and I absolutely loved it)

Matsushima is actually listed as one of the three most scenic places of Japan, so it's not like Sendai wouldn't come up at all if you look for touristy stuff to do.

It's not a competition :) I just think it's a bit easy to say that Sendai has "nothing" to offer

Matsushima is not belong to Sendai, but Tohoku, ask I said, Tohoku has spot but Sendai is not.
And you must know that Japanese rank everything lol,

Me and hubby did a backpack in mid 2010 to Tokyo, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Takayama, Kamikochi and Matsumoto...and the main reason for that trip was me wanting to go to MJ exhibition at Tokyo Tower .

So one time is enough for ^^ these places as they are so touristy.

I'm saving for my next trip and main reason is Yuzu :yahoo:.
So this time I want to do Northern Honshu adventure including Sendai this, this and this . Plus places that Pamigena mentioned including the billion steps temples etc. as I love hiking.

Hakodate or Aomori is good

ok, you're right, it's not worth the trip, from now on I'll discourage people from going there  seems like a good approach

Im not mean so...
I don't believe you are, but I don't like how you try to persuade people not to go to Sendai. I don't believe you're lying regarding this town not having many hotspots, but when people want to go and with Yuzu trying to help his hometown with encouraging people to visit... What you say simply feels wrong.

I think Yuzu is more than enough reason for us to go there :P
