the photo of that age i remember is shoma with pooh. the same as yours? anyway, so cute!

I think that's the one. Even then he had those big, beautiful eyes. And his hair was standing straight up. Too cute.

He is soo sweet i really wanted to hug him when i saw him going to the bus after Worlds. He was still crying. I froze cause I don't speak Japanese yet so i didn't know how to tell him that he is amazing no matter what.

I think he was pretty devastated and those tears were definitely real. It was killing me when he was using words like "my failure". I was there for Worlds and never gave up hope that he would medal. It was definitely within his reach. So glad the audience was cheering him through all his jumps after he took that tough fall...Can't wait to see what's in store for him next year. Hopefully he uses this experience to spur him on for next year.

SOI will be televised live in Japan this Friday, I am sure there will be you-tube videos available after the broadcast.

I have no first hand knowledge about how Shoma was received but the Japanese audience
are very gracious to all skaters.

Seems no broadcast on Friday...I haven't seen video of the show yet.

Poor Shoma… In the interview that was aired recently, he said he could have hardly seen at that time. Nothing. Even the tons of crowd at the venue…It was his first experience. Under the unusual state of mind, he couldn’t achieve what he’d practiced so far. He felt so frustrated about it. However, such hard work wasn’t waste. I think it made his fight for the jump after the hard fall possible. This season was his first senior one. He prooved he'd got a lot of strength and stamina. At the begginin of the season, he had worry about them.
At the same time, I feel so grateful to the people at the venue. They cheered up for Shoma warmly although it was not the home crowd… It must have been a huge power for him.:)

Go Shoma!:hap10:

OMG, that's it. You made my day, tzazu. Thx. Guess Yuzu isn't the only one who likes Pooh!

Yes, this photo! I remembered it more impressively for the Pooh.

It seemed he was very overwhelmed at Worlds. But now he has that one experience and I'm sure he will be wonderful at Worlds in Helsinki. Really hoping he gets invited again to Skate America so I can see him there again. Glad to know there are so many people who follow him and care about him.

This season was a good senior debut for him. He’s got a lot of fans! Of course, he was a promising skater inside Japan, but we didn’t know at all how the foreign skate fans would feel about Shoma when he turned senior.

The atmosphere of Skate America is warm. They love the artistic type of skaters like Daisuke and Tatsuki and admired them although they are not American. So they could respond to the supports with their wonderful performances. This season’s GS start of Shoma at SA was very lucky for him! I was able to hear a lot of live views favorable to Shoma. (Did you go there live?)
Provably, about Japanese Men GS entry of new season, Yuzu and Mura are going to NHK as these two years and I expect Shoma to get entry to SA.
Anyway, towards Helsinki, he can get stronger! :)

Yes, I saw Shoma at Skate America (long program only) and was wondering who the Japanese firecracker was. It was a great Grand Prix debut and the audience loved him. The (mostly) American audience has really enjoyed Team Japan over the years, and SA has been very good for the Japanese men - 8 out of 10 years they took gold and Shoma got silver last year. Saw Machida win gold at SA 2014. The audience went crazy and gave him a standing ovation. Wish we didn't have to wait so long to get Grand Prix info for this year.

I loved the crowd at TD Gardens we were all supporting the skaters. I remember when i saw Shomas' face on the big screen at Kiss&Cry i said: Shomaa (with a voice like: you sweet child please don't cry)

When i first saw him in an interview with Yuzu and Nobu, i've seen photos of him before that as well, I knew he's gonna be great. He has Yuzu as friend and inspiration and when one has such friends one tends to grow and be better. I'll always cheer for him no matter what. :cheer::cheer2:

That crowd was totally crazy! It was such fun to be a part of it. The first day, my hands and arms were already numb from clapping so much. And I was getting hoarse from cheering so much. Hope Helsinki is as much fun.
