The Roy Jones Jr thread is now in Le Cafe...it could go to politics if it becomes even more political. This is, indeed, a thread for discussing current Russian Ladies.

Did Roy Jones became a figure skater? and how sideways here Russian Ladies?![]()
Russian FS ladies would eat him for breakfast. So he wants to compete in Rus ladies field? Quite a hard thing he chose. Should have applied before 2009-10.
Those eyes are truly hypnotizing...Did you notice how beautiful is Alisa Lozko? All Russian girls are beautiful, but Alisa Lozko's beauty is incredible!
https://www.instagram.com/alise_lozko2002/Wait.. What? Kovtun, Voronov, Pitkeev, Proklova, now Sotskova. And don't forget about Sotnikova. How does she suppose to figure out with all of them? This is ridiculous. :noshake:
You don't know Masha's new coach? It is the same as Adelina's coach. And Kovtun's coach.I am so sad for Proklova, despise thinking this was the likely outcome when she suddenly stopped competing right before seniors. She was my favourite of the amazing 4, even considering small jumps... Her presentation was fantastical when she was on.
Also, I do not know Masha's new coach, but I hope she is happy there. At the end of every competition, she looks about to cry even when she skates her best, and I am not sure if it is coach's pressure or her own. If her new coach can focus on presentation, I cannot wait to see her.
What are everyone's thoughts on Liza Tukt's potential leading up to 2018?
I think it's possible for her to pull off a solid season or two (though not sure what season it will be. Will she peak properly just for Olympics?) But it's difficult to know what is causing her difficulties: confidence, mental game, stamina, other physical problem?
She was a wonderful World Champion last year with her on-ice charisma, energy, flawless jumps and 3A, but now if we compare Liza at her very best to Evgenia, I find Liza somewhat lacking on SS, spins, choreography, etc. I think if Evgenia stays strong, I wouldn't want to see Tukt surpass her only on the basis of the 3A and clean jumps. I don't think I'd want 2014-2015 Tukt to surpass 2016 Anna P., either. Liza just lacks the well-roundedness of some of the other Russian ladies at their best, IMO.

There were gossips that, after her epic season, Liza kinda relaxed a bit (which is understandable), by training less and putting on some weight - which made it harder for her to come back to form this season.
Also, I suspect Mishin is insisting on the 3A while with her jump quality, she could have some crazy BV without it and work on presentation instead (which isnt going to happen because Mishin).

And this is where I 100% agree. The only thing I wish had happened is that the short from TCC had been performed at worlds.
Medvedeva would have probably broken both sp and lp records in one event. That would have been awesome.
I want to see a healthy rivalry between Tsurkaya and Medvedeva. Tsurkaya has beautiful(!!!) jumps and Medvedeva has the difficulty and the style. I think they can push each other to really take the sport further.
Med already is pushing the ladies event to a higher technical standard, which is a great thing for the sport.
Hard to say because I'm not sure how much of her fabulous 2014-2015 season had to do with her taking meldonium. I mean, obviously taking a performance enhancer isn't going to do the jumps for you, but it probably did make it easier for her to keep up that crazy competition schedule, avoid injuries, and stay in good shape weight and fitness wise throughout the long season, 3 factors which I think contributed a lot to her success in 2014-2015. So now, I'm not sure. She clearly has the talent to be a factor again but the Russian field is so unbelievably stacked that no one is given the benefit of the doubt and assigned to competitions without earning a berth. It will be exciting to watch but as of right now I really don't know what to expect.

About presentation, she doesn't need difficult choreographies, ditch Lambiel and do something simple and fun to watch, something like Adelina's 15/16 SP.
