I disagree at least on Yulia - from what was said when she moved to Urmanov in Sochi, it was worked out for her to have funding through the 2018 Olympics...If the Fed was writing her off or not wanting/having her in the medal hunt, I doubt they would help her move to Sochi for training.

As far as I heard the russian fed had hothing to do with this - Yulia has plenty of every kind of support form her fans who's got money and clout to make this done.

I don't think so. She is good but not better than Polina and Alisa Fedichkina. She is not even better than Alisa Lozko. Then we can never tell what happens to girls of her age. Gubanova was stable last season and unstable this season. It is even not just about puberty - it is about big variance in anything for teenagers. But I agree that as of today she looks more promising than other Japanese girls. Just the Russian girls are simply better.

I would cautiously agree with that statement. The only chance for the sweep is that all other contenders falter. Otherwise the judges will not let that happen. Gracie's winning SP in Boston shows that to win the Russians have to be undoubtely better and especially in Korea.

Meanwhile Marin, who is already a total package at 14, is going to develop into true PCS monster at 16, worshipped by Japanese fans and adored by rest of the world, even yourself (oh yes, I'm reading Russian forums, where people express their respect and love to her, calling her "Marinka"!)
Plus I don't think puberty is gonna hit her hard, imo she's undergoing it already in a long-term, rather gentle way.

Russia won't have many chances to earn the gold at Pyeonchang 2018, considering the previous events hosted in Korea: Gracie Gold will be pushed so hard and Choi da bin surely will have chance to get a medal, maybe Marin Honda or Satoko can fight for the silver or bronze just to leave Russia out of a medal.

I know it, it's not flame or conspiracy theories, previous events in Korea always ended in this way, maybe this won't be the case but it is very unlikely.

So Russia should continue to dominate the junior and senior competitions winning everything as usual, and do their best at the Olympics.

Yes, sorry Stephan Lambiel but you can't teach the exactly same type of movements for every skater pretending they are all the same. In his defense, i think this year the choreo seemed ugly and flat because the layouts were very demanding and Liza got tired, so in order to not sacrifice the technical side they have simplified the choreography.

Well, she's not some random skater from who-knows-where, she's world champion and she should be able to skate to a 4-minute program with demanding steps and jumps and spins, just as all the other skaters do I don't think her layout was more difficult than Mao's or Evgenia's (who has five jumps in the second half) or Satoko's (the same with two 2A+3Ts), her problem could have easily been one of physical training and preparation. I'm sorry, but I see no valid excuse for an elite-level athlete who destroys choreohraphy the way they did: her PCS should have been destroyed accordingly.

Oleg: Girls have different situation. There is fierce competition between them from the first to the last competitions of the season. Nobody misses tournaments, nobody has special conditions and nobody has a choice of where and when to participate. Having gone through such season they came to the Worlds 100% prepared for the tough competition. They don’t need to do something that they didn’t do throughout the season.

Oleg: Our leading pairs have special conditions, and the guys are competing by a very strange rules. Maxim Kovtun has been given such credits! But he doesn’t hurry to meet that expectations. Girls have fare competition, they represent different schools – and all fighting with each other and within their group. No special conditions, no privileges, no acclimatization camps before the Worlds in the United States – and it gives results.

Vodorezova was asked how come she didn't take Anna Pogorilaya last summer and now she took on Maria. She replied that last season she had to concentrate on Adelina's comeback. Does it mean Adelina's problems all sorted or the opposite Vodorezova knows Adelina is not going to compete anymore.

I also read (not confirmed) that Sasha Proklova's injury had some complications - a bone fracture not healed correctly - that she might not be able to come back. If it true it is really sad she showed such promise...

It would be crucial the next GP assignments: are Leonova and Artemieva still able to compete at the GP? How many spots has Russia now?

It would be fairly amazing if Leonova could make a splash again next season and beat the younger girls (as unlikely as it is) I love her style, and I miss her competing in big events. Her best seasons (like 2011/2012 with Worlds Silver medal) came when she was being sent because other Russians were too young to compete in seniors. Otherwise it would be hard for her to make it and I am aware of it. Her 2014/2015 Charlie Chaplin SP is among my favourite programs ever. It was so characteristic & transitions, choreography, interpretation were awesome. :luv17:

I am so sad for Proklova, despise thinking this was the likely outcome when she suddenly stopped competing right before seniors. She was my favourite of the amazing 4, even considering small jumps... Her presentation was fantastical when she was on.

Also, I do not know Masha's new coach, but I hope she is happy there. At the end of every competition, she looks about to cry even when she skates her best, and I am not sure if it is coach's pressure or her own. If her new coach can focus on presentation, I cannot wait to see her.
