Yep! And they won that one last year too. Then somebody complained that IZ have too many fans, and they changed the rules to exclude them, by making the minimum age higher, if I remember right. ROFL! Some people apparently like to pretend that IZ are so popular because of sympathy for Elena over her partner leaving her - like it's such a unique situation in fs. Other teams' fans just don't want to admit that although there are many very good ID teams out there, IZ outshine them all like a full moon outshines the stars. However, whoever organized a second voting last year on FSO must have realized the futility of his/her quest, since IZ are in the running again. And, yes, it's great to see them winning again!
 
I think it's pretty clear they are popular (and rightly so :) ). They have by far the most views and replies of all Ice Dance teams here, for example. I'm not going to lie, I count on that popularity to get second GP assignment. Inviting I/Z will bring some money for sure! :hap10:
 
I wonder if it would be too soon to reveal their music choices? The suspense is just almost unbearable. I'm really curious and hopeful that they and V/M will do really well this season. Trying to get not too excited.

In my books, the longer it takes for Elena and Ruslan to get to Moscow, the more it is probable that they will stay with Shpilband. They were supposed to come back end of May to continue training with Kustarova, but since we now have the info that they will stay only for one week, it looks good for a coaching change. The Russian Fed will publish next week the National Team, so we will find out how much of funding Elena and Ruslan will get. Hoepfully, the rumors are wrong that only the top 3 at Nationals will get full funding.

Re their programs, I`m torn what they should skate to. I recently rewatched the Tori Amos FD of Silverstein and Pekarek, that was choreographed by Shpilband and since I`m a huge Tori Amos fan, it would be kind of cool to have my favorite ice dance team skate to my favorite music :biggrin: But the music would be again a very hard sell to the judges, besides I want Elena and Ruslan to skate to epic music, so maybe something like Scheherazade, that uhh suggested, could fit them very well.

I think we'll be very pleased by their music choices. We just have to be a bit more patient.

I guess you are right, it`s just off season frustration, I think :laugh:
Anyway, I`m glad when we finally get more information about their coaching situation.

And always keep I/Z welfare in mind, and be patient. :laugh:Anyway I think what is more important from a skating persective is elements right now and they most probably are working on these first. It's the IJS era after all.

Scheherazade so close after being an olympic gold winning FD would be a strange choice, but I can see it in their future. ( crystall ball)
 
I kind of want them to do a Valse Triste FD, seeing as worlds are in Finland and I love that music. Not sure if it would suit them, though, so maybe it's not a great idea. Hmm...what else might they skate to? :scratch: maybe a tango? Or something really weird and avant-garde...I would actually kind of like to see that.

I also thought about Valse Triste, but with a choreo that`s more Rahkamo/Kokko and less Virtue/Moir, but after the tons of Waltz we had last year, I guess none of the teams are going to show a Waltz again. A tango would be awesome, but most people think that the SD for the Olympic season will be the Argentine Tango, so they should probably save that for later.

Had no idea there was speculation about the Olympic year SD, but I love me some tango so I would be happy if that was true. :yes: (The Finnstep from the last Olympics is and will always be my favorite, but tango is a close second. :thumbsup:)

Good news, but what does the last bit mean? Собеседник агентства не чувствует, что "есть какие-то возражения" по этому поводу со стороны Федерации фигурного катания на коньках России (ФФККР). The federation objects?

@alithia just saw your edit, what does it mean? I thought возражения is objections but I'm probably missing some idiom!
