Max Aaron

Really hoping that Max gets assigned to Skate America. But based on formula they seem to use, I don't think it's likely. But here's hoping!!🙏🏼

Are you going, Skatefan15? If you are, then I hope he does get it, so you may see him.

But I would like to see Max given other assignments. Then, no-one can complain when he serves up huge scores!

Yes, planning to go and really enjoy seeing Max skate in person! But I'll be happy with any GP assignments he gets! And the bigger the scores, the better!! No complaints here! He works hard and it shows!

This probably requires some research and data crunching, but I wonder if there a strong history of GP event champions being assigned that event again the following year, especially it's an event in their home country? I wonder how much the ISU or federations care about repeat champions in GP events. Does it matter in promotions or ticket sales?

One of Max's GP event sshould be either Skate America or Canada. USFS tends to like their top skaters going to one of those events. In fact, I've heard that depending on what happened last season, getting assigned Cup of China could be a bad sign politically. I hope that is not true, though.

This sounds like a statistician's nightmare.

Ummmm yes if they are skating? is the answer... maybe?

Two terrific photos of Max are in IN's gallery of Best Photos of the 2015-16 Season:

#43 Feeling the energy from the fans after his FS at Worlds
#50 Got plenty of air during his exhibition at Worlds

(And in #51, he is seen [alongside his bro Adam :)] -- in the group selfie at the Worlds exhibition.)

ETA (on May 13):
#43 also had been on the USOC site at the time of Worlds (along with photos of Ashley, Adam, Chock/Bates, and the Shibs).

And Max is included as an Honorable Mention in IN's video package of Best Kiss & Cry Reactions from the 2015-16 season.

At approx. 0:08, an all-too-brief (strangely so) snippet of his reaction after his Skate America FS.

Found myself rather intrigued by the video at the link below.
It shows most of Max's SP from Skate America ... except that Nessun Dorma has been replaced by other music.
I thought I would hate the video, but I did not. Discovered how much I enjoy Max's program :luv17: even without the iconic Nessun Dorma.

Gathering more Max photos from Worlds ...

From the ISU Facebook albums:

Nice SP photo from victura:

Adam's new Facebook page has an album from Worlds.

I don't think I had ever seen this photo of Adam, Max, and Grant after the FS:

This one of the three men is from the SP draw:
ETA (on May 13):
I see now that Becky had tweeted the same photo:
https://twitter.com/becky_coach/status/714934574493642752 (Mar 29)

From the Team USA group photo shoot for Veretto Sport (I think these pics also were on Adam's Twitter and/or Instagram at the time):

Tom Z's current cover photo on his FB page is from Max's FS, with Tom and Becky watching:

Thanks to karne for her alert re the second Aerial Challenge comp and Max's return to same .

Looking forward to hopefully live streaming of our Max prowling like a caged lion before his turn to throw down his perfect jumps!

Good Max stuff in the May 2016 issue of Skating magazine, which has coverage of Worlds.

Nice Max quotes in the article re the Men's competition.
Plus a big photo of The Hug.
Plus I really like the Black Swan photo, partly b/c the "flappiness" of his costume is evident.

Photo: "Max Aaron gets mentally ready to take the ice, with his coach Tom Z. looking on."

Group photo of Team USA:

Max is the main image on IN's home page today :) ... b/c his great post-FS photo at Worlds, with his arms raised in excitement, is the illustration for the article nominating Boston, its LOC, and its volunteers as "person" of the year.

More photos from Worlds, tweeted back then by Becky and Tom.

Looks like our SnuggleBat has a new skillset...

Behold, ChefBat!

Love seeing Max with athletes from other sports :ghug:. Bobsledder Lauren Gibbs really added to the fun of the video.

And the consistency  of Max's skillet skillset (along with a supersized serving of ChefBat charm :luv17:) is seen in another mini-video from that day in the Team USA kitchen:
I would guess that Max's shout-out to "Holcomb" could be to bobsledder Steve Holcomb??
The video was posted by Stephen Garbett, Olympic hopeful in skeleton.

Yesterday Max was a headliner at Olympic Day at the World Arena Ice Hall.

http://www.broadmoorworldarena.com/events/detail/olympic-day-2016-world-arena-ice-hall (Max, Mirai, and Jordan Moeller were the pre-announced figure skaters)

In Max's on-ice group photo at Olympic Day, he was joined by women's skeleton athlete Kendall Wesenberg, Lauren, Stephen, Maddie Aaron, Angela Wang, Alex Johnson, and others.

Great photo of Max from Kendall:

More odds and ends:

Really nice Max photo from Black Swan (at Worlds, I assume?). Don't think I had seen this one before. Esp. swan-like, IMO:

Maddie posted a family photo from Memorial Day weekend:

Max is seen twice in the new "Welcome to USFS" video -- artsy off-ice effect from Worlds within the first few seconds, and then jumping as Black Swan at approx. 1:33:

Max video is in a prototype of the new Aerial Challenge logo from coachtomz:
Check out the hi-def 3-D version of the @aerialchallenge logo designed by Jeff Ames of jacreative.org featuring @maxtaaron jumping. All of the competitors will be able to submit videos and be featured in the logo during the actual event June 24 at the Broadmoor Open. Stay tuned... #cool #stateoftheart

IN's People of the Year article re the New Quad Kings (Jin, Chen, Uno, Samohin) included laudatory quotes  from Max, e.g.:

Items on the MK Blades site that include Max:

Thanks for all the new links, golden!

I am suffering major off-season blues.

MAX WHAT ARE YOU SKATING TO NEXT YEAR AT LEAST GIVE ME THAT SO I CAN LISTEN TO IT OVER AND OVER ON YOUTUBE

Today Max was in a group photo at a pro soccer game -- along with Team USA friends from other winter sports:

[ETA: I should have noted that apparently the Colorado Springs Switchbacks invited the Team USA group, who were on the field to be introduced to the crowd.]

ETA:
Pretty sure that the soccer game was in Colorado Springs.
But seems that as of tonight, Max now is home in the heat of Arizona.

ICYMI (as I had), the article below was published after Max's SP win at Nationals.
The opening part is kinda funny ;) b/c the reporter calls Hockey Max's fearlessness "a little nutso."
And I like the ultimate point that Max brings much the same mind-set to figure skating that he did to hockey.
[ETA: I like the photos too.]

Scoggins: Ex-hockey player Aaron learning to mix strength with skating artistry
Max Aaron took up figure skating as a second sport, but hockey was his true passion.

As a teenage hockey player, Max Aaron was a playmaking center, small but aggressive, and apparently a little nutso.
Standing only 5-7 now and more diminutive back then, he wasn’t scared to take a punch in defense of a teammate.
“I got knocked down a lot with some of their punches,” he said. “I took the helmet off and the gloves off. I’ll fight anybody. It was fun.”

.... Aaron’s hockey background still serves him well in this discipline. He noted that as a hockey player, he gave max effort 40 seconds every shift. He approaches figure skating with a similar mind-set, albeit for a longer “shift.” His performances last several minutes instead of seconds.
“I want to go out the whole time and attack it,” he said. “You’ve got to be able to kind of pace yourself through the program. With that hockey background, on a shift, I would be constantly flying around.” ...

SnuggleBatians, come hither!

There is a live stream for Aerial Challenge. AND IT'S FREE! WOO!

The LS also covers the actual Broadmoor Open. I won't be able to see any of the men's events so I will be relying on my fellow SnuggleBatians to keep an eye out for me in case he sneaks into the competition itself...

Max gave out the medals for the jump event on Thursday night. He was cute as usual. But it was nice to see him out there getting to do an honored role.

My dear friends, alas, I fear I must spend tomorrow car shopping and will have no time to watch the Aerial Challenge. If any of you are watching, detailed reports will be so dearly appreciated. I hope there will be some way of going back and watching after.

I got to see the first round! Our Snugglebat started with one of his trademark stunning triple Lutzes, and then one of his fabulous triple Axels. Then naughty Snugglebat popped the 4S to a 2S. He got a 22 something. He looked smiley and very relaxed, laughing at himself after he popped the quad.

The Championship round with the two-quad rule...oh, what quad shall you do, Max?

:ghug: for our dear Max, who so bravely took on the jump competition while recovering from his hernia surgery.

He is our Swan Gladiator!

(And also a bit crazy. But in the best way, that we love him for.)
