Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

He has a long season next season. If he does senior B, he will have senoir b, two gps, gpf, national, 4cc, WC and WTT. That's 8 competitions in total. The more competitions he has, the more injuries he will get. There is no way to avoid injuries if he plans to up his tech next season and have so many competitions. I hope he skips both the senior b and WTT. IMO, There is no need for him to compete in those 2 competitions, although I'm not sure if he will be given an option to skip wtt.

Tbh, I pretty much expect him to be injured every season (it seems inevitable), especially at the end of the season.

That person closed the account for public view so it's not possible to see the designs now. I saw one dark costume with lots of embrodery and some frills in the morning but those twits are all protected. Not a huge fan of those I must admit though. I'd love him to skate clear bright music, maybe even the uplifting one to have a light spirit and fun energy.

That's a pity. The tweeter might have surprised by a big reaction :eeking:
You can still see the design on this site though.

If Yuzuru chooses a jazz, it may be a bigband jazz?

It may be because the wind-instrument music is popular in Japan, and there are lots of school brass bands etc., but I was a bit surprised that I knew many of the bigband jazz pieces in the video, although I didn't know the titles

EDIT: The theme of "Lupin the Third" :yes2:

Awww, you already have the tickets for GPF and Worlds? Luck you! Have a wonderful time there!
About his challenger series, i think if he get any entry to one of them, it will be Autumn Classic. He was nice until GPF last year. He may feel that Autumn Classic is not bad to start the season.

Thanks! It's always a wonderful time watching skating!

Although Autumn Classic is early, I hope he's recovered enough that he might go there to try out his new programs, particularly if he can't try them at a Japanese show. It would be less travel, so not so disruptive of his Toronto training.

Why would he need to up his tech content? He already gets huge leads when he skates cleanly. I think he needs to take the time to heal properly, skipping senior Bs and even GP if necessary, and focus on delivering clean programs, like he did for most of the past season. In fact, I wonder if injury hasn't played a part in his mistakes at the Worlds LP.

But it's great to know that he's out of the cast and even skates a bit. Hopefully come winter he'll be in great shape again!

Increasing the program difficulty is a must if he wants to win the next Olympics. Everybody is getting +3 GOEs and 10s PCS regardless of the quality or difficulty of their elements/programs. Judges don't give him any advantage and sufficient reward for the risk he takes. He gets (almost) no lead if everybody skates cleanly. If he doesn't want to leave his fate to judges' hands, he needs BV much higher than all of his rivals.

If he wants to add new quads to his programs, I don't think it's smart to skip the GPs because he needs to try new elements in more competitions to be consistent.

He was injured at every world championship he competed at. But his performance in Boston was worse than all of his performances at prior WCs. So while injury played some role in his performance, I don't think it played the main role.

Well, at the NHK’s SP Hanyu, Jin and Mura all skated cleanly, and they got 106.33, 95.64 and 88.29 respectively. At GPF’s LP Hanyu skated cleanly, while Fernandez and Uno made one mistake each (no falls), and they got 219.48, 201.43 and 190.32 each. I think if Hanyu skates cleanly with the tech content he currently has, he’ll win, regardless of how the others do.

Maybe it depends on the injury.

Fernandez's LP at WC is scored higher than Yuzuru's NHK LP already.

I have no faith in any of the judges being fair. All the judges are selected by their federations. No federations will choose their most honest and fair judge to high level competitions to help foreign skaters win. There is no punishment for cheating either. There is no incentive or reward for any of the judges to be honest and fair. With the way the judging system is set up and the way judges are selected, we are guaranteed to see cheating and biased judging.

Or he could go to Finlandia this year, given that Worlds will be in Finland, and he would have an extra week compared to AC. Although if he gets an early GP like SA or SC, it might be best to stay in Canada to avoid too much traveling :)

I missed the Worlds 2016 is held in Finland!:drama:
Anyway, the plan of challenger series may somewhat depend on the assignment of GPS? the end of June is coming! Im getting nurvous now. :hap57:

:)I always feel gratitude for the members or fans to share their vivid experiences at live cometitions with photos, videos and reports.

Autumn Classic is convenient:yes:. Im afraid the possibility that he can try his new programs at Japanese summer shows is pretty low considering the current situations. If he's fully recovered and shows his skating happily without any fear of injury, that will be a wonderful time that we wish...

Why 4CC? I think they (Fed) need to realise that as much as it it would be fun to have that gold he needs to rest more in between the competitions and less travelling around the world would be an asset as well. Let him have the WTT which is an honour to take part in and the last chance to battle but 4CC& Senior B could be skipped with no harm to his current career I believe. Sure Senior B is to try a new program but... IMO he doesn't really need it. I'm all for rest rest rest and recover. I want him to be strong at Olympic Games.

Yuzu doing Mambo would be super fun. (And somehow I don't think he'd do Mambo, IMO not his style.)
But if he ever does any Piazolla music he better do it with Antonio Najarro. I really want him to be authentic to the music. And if he's ambitious enough he'd do that. I am not really a huge fan of soppy non-authentic choreos done on Piazolla's music.

4CC this year will be the Olympic test event for for Pyeongchang 2018 so attending 4CC 2017 could give help him with 2018.

Well, he needs to have the highest base value, who knows what will happen in the oly season honestly. Like if we look back at midway oly cycle (2011/2012) bet majority of people did not seriously think hanyu would get the OGM and beat chan, 2 season is a long time for someone to improve. Both boyang and shoma have higher BV than him and chan also plan to up his BV by adding 4S. Boyang's PCS might be 30 pts below yuzu but shoma already score 42 (SP) and 89 (FP) in his debut senior year, and by oly season we will never know. Yuzuru doesn't have as much lead as some people think, javi is virtually scored the same way when clean. If yuzu wants to up his tech content, this season is his only chance, if he doesn't make it work, he could always revert back to what he is comfortable with nearing the olympic.

Do you know what magazine it was?
No unfortunately she did not mention the exact name of the magazine

Yuzuru is officially out from DOI too.

I can't open the page now but I saw a screenshot of it and it said pretty much the same thing as the announcement from FaOI.

Sending positive thoughts and wish for a full recovery.

Thanks mikaboo! So does this mean he won't be joining ice shows at all this season? I am actually glad he is properly taking recovery time in Canada.
So we will only see him at competition then, it is going to be a loooonggg wait

Yeah, so glad he's taking time to recover, but I really miss him in the shows.

Yeah. Come to think of it we really have not heard anything from him or seen him since WC in early April so that has been 2 months. Considering he won't be joining ice shows probably we would only hear from him when GP series is about to start. I miss him too :sad21:

Well, he needs to have the highest base value
No, he doesn't...

High Base Value of elements is worthless, if a skater can't get +ve Grades of Exececution for those elements - and that is where Hanyu excels. He targets nearly ALL the GoE bullet points to try and get +3's. And these days he largely succeeds.

Most other skaters do not (or simply can not) target as many bullet points... and so they only get +2's at best (except when judges are being overly generous, which admittedly happens a lot for certain skaters).

To win championships, skaters need both high BV, and high GoE's... it is very difficult to increase either of those, and deliver them consistently in competition, and all the while maintain high PCS...! Hanyu is incredibly difficult to beat, even if he doesn't increase his BV.
