Jason Brown

I was wondering why there wasn't photos of Jason attending Alexa and Chris' wedding. Same with Joshua Farris, Lukas Kaugars, Joe Johnson and some other senior skaters from Colorado Springs.

The trip to LA (for whatever training reason with Frank Carroll) makes sense for why Jason wasn't at the wedding. So would just travel/family reasons - it's a common time of the year for that and could be a good time to make a "rest trip."

Unless, of course, Jason or the other skaters weren't invited.

I freely admit to major boredom:biggrin:Particularly since I give less than a small rat's patootie about gymnastics, and so many skating sites/tweets seem headed there...

Thank you @Tavi for the Jason-Gracie Twitter photo. I still maintain that Jason has changed the tenor of his Twitter feed. Fine and dandy, of course I know that he doesn't need to tweet to suit me or anyone. But I don't really care as much about his vacations, or his home visits, or God help me, gymnastics ... I do, however, care about his skating and his practices and if he's going to tweet cutesy photos, let them be with Gracie.

Really, is that too much to ask? (Rhetorical, folks, rhetorical!)

Well hopefully we'll get some skating news soon! After the GP assignments come out we'll be able to analyze that to death and then anticipate Glacier Falls - which I'm pretty sure he'll do because:

I never realized it was a "high performance" camp - just thought it was a comp.

Since you're photo deprived, here a few cute ones taken by Carly:

ETA I wonder if Jason read your post @el henry

Thanks for posting links to the photos Tavi! :)

I will admit that I really like Jason with the light 1-2 day facial hair look.

well its kinda gruffy hes defintly grown up now that's for sure. and still cute as ever. I hope he never loses his kind spiret and sweet heart. it defintly shines through. and the fans love and respect that about him.

I rather like that his sister's dancing made the cut! I suspect a lot of people will be trying to figure out which skater that is... i kinda want to hear the guesses.

Also whoever said his social media content/image is changing... well I think you maybe correct. Yesterday was Rohene's birthday and not a peep out of Jason... I am hoping that just means he is wishing birthday wishes in private rather than on his feed - but it is a bit of a change. But maybe it means our angel of a little boy is growing up and learning how to forget birthdays...like the rest of us.

well hes growing up he has a cell phone he might of called or text or messeged rohene . we have no way of knowing for sure. I think he still loves and respects him a great deal .I'm pretty sure he still looks up too rohene a great deal. just think of his river dance that baiscly put Jason on the world map as we know thanks rohene!

I have probably watched that Nationals Riverdance at least 100 times! :hap57:

Certainly... but it is still a change. Not wishing Rohene happy birthday publicly does not mean he did not privately, but it is still a change from what he has done in the past. I assume he either handled it privately or forgot (humans do that) rather than thinking it is anything... more dramatic. But it is still an interesting change that i noticed soon after seeing talk that his tone on social media has changed. To be clear he is allowed to evolved his social media however he and his team want...but fans are also allowed to notice changes.

He did wish Rohene happy birthday on twitter last year for instance... so that is largely why I am calling it a change.

I'm not quite sure what's missing but I also sense a change in his social media presence. It seems less real, somehow, and he seems less interactive / engaged with his fans. The dubsmash things are occasionally very funny but there are an awful lot of cutesy or generic clips and pix these days. I thought it was kind of odd that he didn't send a good luck / sorry I'm not there message to Team KoRo at Broadmoor, especially given it was Jordan's first comp back after injury.

There does feel like a change of sorts... to be honest leading up to Broadmoor i was really worried he was injured again... as he was rather quiet prior to the injury being announced. Not wishing Jordan and Mariah, and Courtney Hicks for that matter well wishes is out of the norm for him. But he could just be trying to avoid drawing attention to him not being there.

I also think that if he wants to turn over his account to be handled by a professional...well he has that right. He can maintain his online presence however he likes, just like us fans will likely analyze it like a group of academics. Social media is fascinating from a meta perspective and I like looking at how the different skaters handle it.

Honestly I was a bit worried too - because the silence is exactly what happened before NHK and Nats. Anyway it's disappointing because he did seem so genuinely engaged in the past, but it is what it is.

On the bright side, tomorrow we find out about the Grand Prix.

Me three about the silence leading up to Broadmoor making me wonder if Jason had an injury, and if it's overanalyzing, so be it.

If the Shibs stopped doing vLogs, and didn't say why, and didn't post photos of their puppies every other month, I'd wonder the same wonders. And remember how Jason even posted a "reassuring" message after the Senior B where he came in second (Ice Challenge)? Now we're just getting more fun photos with the tongue out.

Okey dokey then, I'll expect less "real" news, but as Stitch says, don't expect me not to notice the change. No cute training photos with Mariah? No "way to go great to see this guy back on the ice" for Jordan? Not even "so swell to *skate* with Gracie".? Just, here I am paddle boarding and think what you will? The difference in tone and tweets might not mean Jackson B. Squat, but it is noticeable.

Maybe when we have assignments, we'll have something else to talk about;)

I wonder if there has been some kind of new turn of events with his creepy stalker and he's looking at reducing is social media presence somewhat.

Which creepy stalker?

I think karne is referring to one of the cyberstalkers whose online behavior toward Jason has been creepy.
Sad to say that it had crossed my mind as well that the cyberstalking perhaps had caused a change in Jason's tone, but I felt hesitant to mention this possibility in the thread.

Two other thoughts that have been bouncing around in my head:

Jason was a relative latecomer to tweeting. Within a very short period of time, he went from being called (by himself as well as others) as "Twitter-less Brown" to being Mr. Prolific with elaborate photo montages and the like.
Maybe the pendulum finally is just swinging the other way and it feels more natural to him to cut back.

AFAIK, the event page on Jason's website used to have very up-to-date listings for his competitions and shows.
Since TCC, I believe the only listing has been the upcoming Sun Valley show. The Broadmoor Open never was listed. "The Ice" shows and Glacier Falls never have been added.
I don't know whether Jason and/or his team made a conscious decision to treat his event page differently from before, but the "quietness" there does feel like a change.

According to these instagram posts, Jason is still training at the Toyota Sports Center this week (as of yesterday):

yellowchinkyfever@jasonbskates I'd love to skate with you! Of course without interrupting your training!

debcinlaOMG you guys! @jasonbskates was at Toyota! He is just as amazing and sweet and genuine as he seems. ✨😃⛸#FanGirlMoment

Thx, Katmari, I think the second IG poster was the one whose comment was noted earlier (last week, a different post) by Tavi.

Seriously, how did Jason expect to train unnoticed at TSC? Color me confused.

it would be a shame if some of the more unsavory twitterers were discouraging him, but I guess I could understand that....
