I think Adelina can win medals in big competitions- she just need to focus 100%. Forget the haters and critics, just focus on competing, collect some medals and people will take you seriously. There are always up and downs, you lose you win and people Will always criticize you no matter what. So what? Just don't disappear. Work, show good performances and you will be rewarded![]()
I really admire her for continuing to skate competitively. She could have taken her Olympic gold medal and retired, but she didn't. Good for her!
As it should be. There should be more for an athlete than just medals. Why retire at 17 when you can continue until 27 or something? If you're healthy and have a chance ofc
Many skaters have other things in life they wish to pursue. If they wish to retire after winning an Olympic gold medal, I have no issue with them doing so. Each to his or her own. I just really admire Adelina for NOT doing that. She obviously loves the sport and can keep skating in one form or another for years to come if she so desires. Kudos to her!
I think it was Adelina's second senior year? Why throwing away so many years of hard work, why quitting after the first big success? If you don't want to have a long career, then you obviously have the wrong priorities![]()
Like i said before, she should continue with competing, she likes her job and i don't think she has "motivation problems". There are more than enough reasons to be motivated
The olympics is the biggest result for an athlete, many after winning it, find it hard to motivate themselves to go for it again. Some people continue but others don't. For certain sports the training etc just gets tiring and they move on. Plus they get to do shows which are a lot more lucrative than doing competitions.

I do not feel there's a right or wrong here. Skaters make the decision that's best for their lives and careers. It is not my place to tell them what their priorities in life should be.

Skaters make the decision that's best for their lives and careers, but wouldn't it be respectful towards the fans to announce them publicly at some point in nearly 3 years period?
I write here in fan fest thread, because I like the girl, have always been advocating for her comeback and feel a bit tired and deceived already.

And according to Gorshkov, she will participate in Ice Age http://rsport.ru/figure_skating/20160922/1092014236.html
And according to rumors, Buyanova had no idea![]()
Isn't Buyanova tight with TAT? How is it possible that she didn't know? Very strange...

"The audience will be pleasantly surprised by the participation in this project.....In our ranks joined Adelina Sotnikova. She had never skated in a pair, and this too will be a test, for which it will be interesting to watch for her.

Sigh.CSKA posted an announcement:
Ice Age is back
We'll know officially on Tuesday since it's the day of the live taping (Sept 27th)
ETA: And her name is OFFICIALLY back on the roster http://www.1tv.com/announce/15064 (dated Sept. 26th)
