Satoko Miyahara

So Miyahara will have the world championship in SC to compete. I hope she will get the TS she deserves this time and MUST have a high PCS score with such gorgeous programms. In the NHK she has Edmunds , Pogorylaya and Sotskova. All three are fierce competitors for me and i think that NHK will be a really elegant GP with all of them . Mirai among theme of course. Late October is too late , i cant wait :yahoo::hap85::bed: Wake me up when October ends

Wakaba Higuchi will be at NHK too. ;)

can i join the club "Is it just me or do her jumps look better?" club?? cause they do to me  at least her both 3T looks completely backwards
it was once again great showing from Satoko!! :luv17: i remember last year at JO some people said "she will never get mid 130s for her programs at international competitions like she did here", i wonder what they are thinking now :slink:

Yesterday I spent time to slow mo her jumps and check, there is no comparison, her toeloops got much better so it is not just you, they are really better.

Yes they are better and just like matmuh said I noticed how she lands her 3T completely (or close to) backwards. They're still prerotated but not borderline underrotated anymore, imo. Of course I don't expect everyone else to notice the difference because you have to be really familiar with her skating and realize that her improvements can't happen overnight.

PS: The opening 3Lo also looks pretty big by Satoko standards.

ETA I made gifs of her 3Lz-3T and her 2A-3T. The 3-3 looks like it has a little bit more "oomph" to it than say, a year ago. Her 2A-3T looks gorgeous.

She must be taking part in some serious "leg day" exercises at the gym to get that little extra oomph that she needed to push through the back end of her combos

Hopefully she stays clean from UR because from what I've seen the judges seem to be trending this year toward calling UR more harshly than in years past. It's kind of funny though if ya think about it. If in fact the judges are putting more scrutiny on UR's going forward you can bet Satoko's jumps were part of that discussion. If she can avoid them it's sort of a funny irony that it's her competitors who will pay the price

I wish her best of luck this year.

i bet thats exactly what she does, as well as 3 run throughs everyday  and if i am not wrong according to her trainer she had very little leg muscles but she is working on building more (cant remember exactly what he said though:o:), it is a slow process but she is obviously getting there (at least to me )

He said she had very little power in her leg muscles when he started working with her and that last season she was using 60% of her muscle power.

Satoko's SP at Carnival On Ice in good quality

She popped the lutz and showed us the emergency 3F-3T she's been preparing for this kind of situations

looked UR but good effort!! she better not do that if she pops lutz into double though to get all the points from jumps, 2Lz would be invalidated if not in combo :dbana:(of course if she thinks she can add 3T to lutz )

Yeah it was definitely UR  and I hope she will never pop her lutz. :hopelessness:

^ Is that only me, or did a piece of Satoko's hair got stuck in her mouth/teeth just before 3Lz..? It remained there for the rest of the performance, and she seemed to have trouble getting it out at the end (took 2 tries). I wonder if it got her distracted. While she looks great with her hair down, perhaps pinned braids (like those in Hernando's Hideaway) would be a better idea as a hairdo for the actual competition.

Yes she constantly had a strand of hair stuck in her mouth... pinned braids would be a better choice or if they want to keep it down at least find a way to prevent her hair flying over her face.

I can't help but notice how thin Satoko's legs are compared to Wakaba's. I'm kinda jealous on Satoko's behalf  they're both short but one has the smallest jumps and the other has the biggest / most powerful / barely prerotated jumps. I think these pictures of them standing next to each other are self-explanatory.

I just got back from my trip to Tokyo. I went to JO only as I didn't have tickets for CoI. Planned to get one after the event but the queue was quite long and was so hungry so I left.

Satoko was so awesome. I love her program. The dress was good if you watch on videos but up there on the stands it looked the same color as the ice... and I can say the same for Gracie's costume. Her jumps looked stronger but what stood out for me more was that she looked more confident in herself this time. Before she struck me as someone so reserved... really good but reserved like when I saw her in The ICE last year. But seeing her in JO this time it looked like she has come out of her shell. She's getting more expressive and it shows in her performances connecting more to the audience.
