Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

The start of the season made me come out from my burrow lol

I just wanted to share my views from Yuzu's new programs, was lurking from time to time (trying to catch up with the pages :drama:) and when the notice he was skating to Hisaishi's music was out, I was so happy! I really really wanted Yuzuru to skate to music from him for a long time! Joe Hisaishi works are gorgeous, I expected something beautiful (I was impressed by the difficulty level of this program!), it will be amazing when he peaks, it really fits his artistry. I loved the choice of music for the SP too. It's very fun and I think he will enjoy it (rockstar Yuzu is everything) I like his costumes too, the only deal I have with the Prince one is that it's very white  but in the end it's very "Prince" (at least for me) I just can't wait for more and I'm happy with what I saw, he handled it very well for the season start. I think his 4lo is very good, and the stamina issues are normal at these early stages as a lot of you have stated too. I'll trust his words, I mean, we already know how he works, we already know he loves to push his limits and wants to prove himself and wants to win. In the end nobody knows how our body works better than ourselves, so let's trust he will be healthy and will do great this season. I'll be arouuund! *Crawls back to the burrow to watch Yuzu's old programs while waiting for SC:hap57:*

It says Yuzu hurt his back(doesn't mention when), and sprained his right ankle right before the competition.
He only practices two days and then off a day, therefore he can't practice as much as he wants to.

It is worrying his condition doesn't seem to be much different from that at the Boston World after six months.
I seriously think he shouldn't aim for "no miss" performance at Skate Canada.
His body doesn't catch up with his will, as always...

Well, he does A spin for quite a while now. What I mean is a new spin for him, like, Stephane Lambiel has a few variations I find absolutely mesmerizing: https://youtu.be/My6rAMvgBPc?t=104 One thing I am not sure of though is how they are going to be graded according to current rules. And Yuzu needs level 4.:)
I don't mind if he drops the Biellmann. It is not easy on the back at all. Even though I don't like Butt spin, I can tolerate Yuzuru's butt spin.

Yes but in July he was already back to full training , so training 2 days and having 1 day rest is after sprain .. not since Boston injury.

No, thank God it's different. He had a proper time to rest his foot and had a very intensive treatment. It's just that he can't rest as much during the season and it will put pressure back to his foot but they are going to maintain good control over this and not let that foot get as disatrous as it was during the last season. I know he is impatient but he also gets the idea that big wins demand healthy body so I expect him do better than he did last season after GPF.

I too can ~tolerate Yuzuru's butt spin in particular ;)

I was dreaming about Yuzuru again :drama:
He was at Skate Canada and after he finished his LP (it wasn't that bad) he almost died because he was so tired- and everyone was chanting "patrick chan, patrick chan" :palmf:

Could someone please translate this cute fanart? https://twitter.com/runrun8383/status/783238435309924353 What is that eagle- any anime character? Or maybe it's an owl or another bird?:scratch2:

There's a gale blowing.
Today, Hoplega(=Yuzuru?)'s job is to deliver happiness to everyone in this forest.
Against any fierce blow,
he never gives up.
Suddenly, he hears loud flaps of a bird.

OWL: There's no need to push yourself so intensely. Don't work hard alone.
Have a rest here(under the shelter of my wings) for a while.

My translation isn't so good. Someone can make it better::scratch2:

Could someone please translate the comment Misha wrote on weibo in Chinese for the forth video? It's where they talk near the boards. Fun talk it seems. Thank you!

If he did hurt his back then it's possible it's the reason why he skipped the biellmann. I'm ok if he eventually decides to drop it (if he hasn't already) but I also kinda want him to try maybe Y/I spin. I know he tried I (ish) spin before.. I know it's unlikely but a girl can dream haha.

Lol, I feel you guys who can't catch up with all the news. Before I used to stubbornly make it to watch everything that existed and what I could watch, but it's getting impossible really. May I ask you for the link of the video you watched (where he goes to K&C)?
I'd kill for the whole Brian hugging + K&C part. Hopefully there will be more fancams.

Hi there. I'm sorry I tried searching from my history but the video isn't there anymore (from dailymotion). It's from this Japanese channel coverage with an interview with the journalist after. If I come across a similar one later I'll let you know.

This is so amusing Yuzu and 3 poohs

OH MY GOD... :laugh2:

It all makes sense to me. Thank you!
You know, I can't help it but the previous art came into my mind immediately were Brian tells him to have a good rest and then gain powers step by step, goes away and Yuzu is like "okay, that was a very good 5 minutes rest, I need to work on my 4Lo to gain consistency now" and climbs out from the box hearing "I can see you!" from Brian.
There's another cute art by the way. Seems like everybody is inspired by his free skate costume to create those cute drawings. :)

Oh, I made a big mistake! Not 'Popureka' but 'Hopulega' is his name. Hopulega(hop-lega) is a typical way of contraction of 'Hope & Legacy', which we Japanese are likely to do. Last year, many Japanese fans call Chopin's Ballade No.1 ' Bara-ichi(1)'. I need reading glasses:(

There is this new article from nikkansports that includes interview with Hanyu after Autumn Classic translated by Angelica Yuzu at YHIFG Facebook
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1610393525875114/permalink/1782913468623118/

Some new things mentioned :
- He has lower back pain too besides sprained right foot and so he did practice 2 days, rest 1 day.
- He feels his problem is not about stamina (?); that if he jump more efficiently it will be well-managed. But he also said his way of breathing is inadequate.
- He said this time he poured attention on steps instead (This is very noticeable to me, his flow in the stsq is noticeably improved from last season)
- The journalist did not mention the score by Shoma and Javi, seems like he mentioned it himself. He said even though he felt ashamed, it is not negative and he wants to practice instead (This is so Yuzuru lol)

Overall from this interview he sounds very positive and motivated, while thoughtful and careful too. It is very good to hear ^^

Ahahaha, yes, i can tolerate his butt spin too. I have mixed feelings about his biellman... I like it, but at the same time i keep thinking "that can't be good for his back". A part of me would be really sad to see it go but the other would be relieved

I am worried about his back but at least it seems like he isn't ignoring his injuries now and is resting instead of overtraining. I can imagine him in his house shouting every now and then "Ske-to yaritai!!" hahaha
