It's not the aesthetic of the costume for most of us, nor is it a question of it being appropriate because it is; it's the inability to see his lines properly while skating. It's purely visual. I can't change my eye-sight. Frankly, it's important that he's seen properly but as long as the judges can, I don't care ultimately if I cannot. I'll settle for the FS.
 
I kind of like the white honestly. But it is that sketchy vest thing with the collar, I really dislike. It makes the costume look cheap and juniorish and ultimately badly reflects on the program as well.

But how comes that i have no problems with this, i can see him and what he is doing on the ice :shrug:
I was the one who said "white on white ice is a no-go"- i watched Tara lipinskis 1997 LP and you almost can't see her, but that's bc of the bad video quality :noshake:

Because we're different people and your eye-sight is better than ours. People are vary varied in their ability to recognize shades of one individual colour, especially in motion (there are tests for this, it's super interesting) and for some, it probably gets compounded if they have need for glasses. I imagine a bit more bling on the pants or a stronger border than what he has right now, on both the sleeves and pants would help a lot to delineate, he doesn't actually have to change the white completely in order to get a better effect :)

His SP costume looks like a body-suit to me. Thus, if so, I doubt it will be possible to just change the pants? Or maybe I am wrong? :scratch2:
Also, it is only a few weeks to SC and he will be in Canada. Will there be time to alter the costume even if he wants to? Just curious. I know he change his costume from CoC -> NHK in 2014 but that was due to circumstances.

I knew you would say this, but no, my eye- sight is not better, it's actually not really good :laugh:
What bothers me is, just bc some people have some problems, everything has to change, just because of them :noshake:
 
When Yuzu started the warm-up I really liked the pants. When he took off his JSF vest, I thought the top was also nice. However looking at the top and the pants together, it feels like they don't really match. The pants are fine color-wise but I do wish the pattern can be altered somewhat...

(Though it is hard for me to see his movements well with the color blending in with the ice, but that may be due to my being a relatively new figure skating fan...)

Edit: And with everything being white, the blades of his boots stand out quite a bit.

It's important in skating, which is why I said ultimately, what matters is if the judges can see him properly live. For us as fans, it's a matter of being able to enjoy completely as many of his programs as possible because this is a limited number. He's only going to do so many before he retires, not to mention that the possibility of this is already going to come up in a year and a half. And this isn't the aesthetic of the costume that's the issue, it's something more important. Of course, only the first counts but everyone can express their wishes to be able to enjoy him fully since it is a discussion board and it's not in any way negatively affecting Yuzuru.

Hm, honestly i like the way he looks in white, i wouldn't mind a change in the pants but i was able to see him perfectly. It just wasn't a big contrast and i could see his lines but not appreciate them. As long as we don't get another xylitol i won't complain :D
 
I too like the white pants. That interview with Jeff B. about Yuzu's sp, they had the concept of "Let's try something crazy" (so imo, even the costume is included and indeed it is something crazy :laugh: ). Though I agree that it's hard to see his lines sometimes, for wearing something different and unique from the pool of guys this season, the white is a plus for me (and I read somewhere it looks better live?). :laugh:

No, I meant that since the pants tend to blend a lot, his lines and difficult movements may be missed or/and hard to see for people watching the performance, including judges. That's the issue with wearing white, so I really hope the judges have/will have no problem catching his moves. If it doesn't bother them, then good for Yuzu, but otherwise...
 
Oh God, I pray for good cameras quality used for judges and for TV (streams) cause I want him to keep that ice cream costume unchanged. That costume is eye catching and makes all the other skaters basically disappear during the warm-up. It's really cool. And you know, we all gonna wait when he alters it and wonder- did he change it? Did he change it? And he will be like- nah, Love me tender, I am your top contender, I wear white and jump as high as your mighty sight.:rock:

Well, judging from the PCS mark on his SP, seems like the judges (but judge no 1 lol) are not bothered by it. But I don't know about different set of judges on different competition :biggrin:

And that is what judges need to see his edges and if the landing was clean. If that is enough then I don't think there should be a problem.
