Even the model of the main character doesn't look like Yuzuru at all lol.

I'm puzzled by the comparisons regarding appearence as well: Yuzuru has extremely distinctive face and body type and if Yuuri was modelled on him, we would see it straightaway. More triangular face, thinner, longer limbs, very long neck, very narrow eyes.... The character Yuuri has more "average" body build (with dendency to gain weight, lol), nothing at all like Yuzu. The creators modelled Victor on Plushy and it shows in the hair and in the body build. The only thing that the creators took from Yuzuru and put into Yuuri is the admiration for Plushy/Victor.

That's because Katsuki is also modeled after Tatsuki Machida. Tatsuki was the one who trained in the United States. Tatsuki was the one who was 6th at his first grand prix, but eventually became Olympian and World Silver Medalist.

Yuuri ==>Yuzuru
Katsuki ==> Tatsuki

Katsuki looks a bit more like Tatsuki in the ending :

You are right, so the anime fans draw some wrong connections. It should have been Tatsuki. I miss him aww..

Behind the first successful quad loop in (competition) history -brief translation of main points in video:

1) Snippets from Yuzuru’s Autumn Classic, SP and FS.

2) Last season, Hanyu’s quad jumps were toeloop and salchow. This season, he adds a quad loop, a jump that takes off with the right foot. It is a jump that is more difficult and has a higher base value (12 points) than the toeloop (10.3) and salchow (10.5).

3) We look at the story behind that successful quad loop.
In this scene from 5 years ago (2011), 16 year-old Hanyu was practising the quad loop. At that time, he was learning 2 kinds of quad jumps and he sometimes challenged the quad loop.

4) In 2014, 19 year-old Hanyu said he practised the quad loop just to challenge himself, but does not intend to include it in competition.

5) Last year, in 2015, he said:
–I am thinking that I want to include the quad loop.
–the younger skaters are coming up.
–the number of quads will definitely increase.
Q: Your goal is a gold medal at the next Olympics. If the quads don’t increase, it will be hard?
–You can’t keep up (if you don’t increase the quads).

6) Just as what he predicted, last season, the quads in men’s figure skating progressed. China’s Boyang Jin (18 years old) has a quad lutz as his weapon. It is the most difficult quad jump done so far. [scene from Nov 2015, NHK Trophy]

7) This year January, Hanyu said (at 4:00 of video, in the car):
–it did not take up that much time (to be able to jump quad loop).
–the control of it is difficult.
–it’s hard to express it in words, you have to enter the jump with a ‘shuuu~t’. (laughs)

8) Actually, last season’s World Championships (April), he thought of putting in the quad loop. But due to an injury of the left foot, he put off this challenge. From April, he needed 2 months to recuperate. Then last month (Sept), he showed a splendid quad loop in open practice. He said the 4Lo, which uses the right foot for take-off, puts less stress on the left foot compared to other jumps. So he was able to start practising it earlier (after recovery from left foot injury).

9) Then, at his first competition of this season, Autumn Classic, SP, he succeeded in the very first quad loop of official competition. But he made a mistake in the quad salchow combination jump. He was very dissatisfied with his performance.
“I want to practise as soon as possible.” (I have translated his interview in a previous post.)

10) His next competition is Skate Canada at the end of Oct.
—-brief translation by me; video thanks to YzRIKO
* I laughed when I heard him talk about the jump with his favourite word 'shuuu~t’. ^^ (There was one talk show in 2014 where Nobunari Oda asked him how to do a particular jump and Yuzu said 'just go shuuu~t’, and poor Nobu said, “What is 'shuuu~t’?? I don’t understand!!!”) ^^
(tumblr source with my thanks!)

I completely agree with you both.
And I add some more thoughts. After looking at the programs of the "top" skaters presented till now in the Challenger senior B series and after reading posts in various threads here in GS, I have to say that the programs of Yuzuru have the potential to be among the best (if not the best) of this season, as the latter.

More: It looks like people bashed about Yuzu more for the FS than the SP.

About the first some called the music as boring and things like that (while the music of Radford of the PChiddy FP...?). They said also that he skated most all the time of the perfomance head down, but I re-watched the videos with two different angles and I didn't see that. And some also have to criticize his choice to go for 4 quads instead of working better the choreo sequence, while with all the youngsters upping their TES and adding quads, I think this was the best moment to do so to really compete for the OG 2018.

About the second they could just objecting about the choice of music and the white pants, which I looked also with suspect at the beginning but that I start to appreciate, at least for the originality and the courage: for his versatility and his attitude of never resting on the laurels, but trying to go further.

My only observation instead is about his spins in both programs: with time I would like to see some new spins, if possible :). What do you think about it?

Haters and people who need DRAMAAA :drama: :confused2:

People who want someone to stab himself or imitating a flying bird or answering a ringing phone and things like that :rolleye:

I am a massive fan of Yuzuru, he is one if not my favourite male skater ever, however I have to say i find your comments in general extremely displeasing. Criticizing Yuzu (or any skater) doesn't equal being a hater and people have the right to have a different opinion than your own. Also I am not a fan of Duhamel/Radford, in fact I really dislike them and I am not a fan of Chan, but these people are heavily criticized too, no need to put Yuzuru as a victim, he is not.

I didn't say everyone is a hater- i said haters and people who need drama- but it's well known that haters like to criticize everything about a particular person, it's FACT. That's why they're called haters. Or are you saying Yuzuru (and other skaters) don't have haters?
I actually don't understand why you're taking my comment so personally
I wasn't even talking about you :confused2:

You get this kind of obnoxious fans sometimes. It's them who create drama out of thin air. :)

Ok I finally watched the video too and guys! Awww! That laugh at around 4:00 mins in. :luv17: Such a cutie pie.

Ah I think they delete it, but it was still opened in my tab and I can still watch it. I will not close it for now in case there is no new link
