Joshua Farris

I am wondering about the glasses. I have never seen him wear them prior to the picture in The Article of Heartbreak. Could this be related to his concussion symptoms, do you think, or a coincidence?

He could have been mostly wearing contacts since he was young and is now going to wearing glasses at least some of the time. The lenses themselves don't appear to be that thick.

We have seen pictures of him between the concussions and now without wearing glasses. I'm thinking it is a preference he is at least trying out.

It's probably true. I'm just being all mother hen. I'll go sit in the corner now.

He looks handsome and well. I am glad he's out and about catching Pokemon rather than brooding in his Fortress of Solitude. I wonder if the Bahdiez and Max are on the same Pokemon team?

I think your mother-hen instincts are very sweet, karne.
And I agree that it is natural to wonder whether Josh's new-to-us eyeglasses could be related to his concussion symptoms.
IMO, possible that they are. (And possible that they are not.)

In any case, very good to see Josh in the new photo with Joe and Lukas. Thx to musicfan for posting.

Ohhh, look who was in the house (not as a competitor) at U.S. Collegiates (and Colorado Championships, which are happening at the same time):

Had to take a close look before recognizing his smiling face :luv17:.

(Sorry, Max, I love you too, but for once, I was more excited to see a photo other than the one with you ;).)

The skater who tweeted the photos is competing in Senior Ladies at Collegiates. She has impeccable taste :agree:.

p.s. Occurs to me that Angela Wang also is competing at Collegiates again this year -- nice that Josh is there to support her.

JOSHUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *glomps computer screen*

I saw someone else mention on Twitter that they got to meet him so I'm glad he was out and about. I hope it did not give him too much pain to be watching others compete, knowing that that door is closed to him now.

That is a really nice photo of Josh. Thanks for sharing.

Angela should win this easily. That is good that he went out there - although I think it's a relatively short drive. I wonder if he had any skaters that he works with competing there.

I think if it bothered him too much, he wouldn't have gone out there. He may be positive about it - although that icenetwork article about the transition from competitive skating made me a bit sad.

I understand what you are saying :(.
The sweetness of Josh's smile in the photo gives me a little bit of reassurance. I do hope that knowing that he still is so loved and respected is helpful in easing the pain of not being able to compete.

Angela did win by a big margin :). Congratulations to her .

That would be cool if Josh attended also in the role of coach and/or choreographer, and not only as Angela's bestie.

Look! Magical appearance!

In typical Josh fashion, of course it's on someone else's social media and not his

If he has been at a festival and "dancing it out all weekend"...then he must be feeling better, and I am so glad.

Thanks to the COMPLETE AND TOTAL INCOMPETENCE OF VERIZON, I've had no telephone and no internet for the past two months. They finally fixed it today--and the phone is still unusable (DUMP VERIZON NOW! I'm going to in the near future). If that wasn't bad enough, the first skating news I found out was that Mr Farris retired due to his concussion. I am Very Sad Indeed, because Mr Farris is a special talent and I will miss him very much.

I'm going to console myself with a big tub of orange sherbet. And chocolate. And Earl Grey tea.

Just found out about his retirement. Feeling like I've been living under a rock or in a cave for the past few weeks to not notice. :palmf::palmf::palmf::cry:

Normally, I don't share posts from FSU, but the poster (wickedwitch) is respected and it's non-controversial news. Josh was reportedly assisting Damon Allen coach some junior skaters at SW Regionals.

If true, it would be great news because: 1) Most importantly - I can't find where the competition is, but depending on the location, it means that Josh is well enough to travel, (I believe that flying can be worrisome with PCS), and 2) His coaching career is off to a fantastic start. It is so respectable, given Josh's age and coaching experience, that Damon trusts him this much already.

Looks like they were held in Plano, Texas - I'm guessing he had to fly down, which makes me beyond happy.

Guess I know what I'm doing tonight... *stalks through the SW Regionals videos*

EDIT: My stalking powers are starting to scare me as I've now successfully found the name of the skater.

I, um, please don't think I'm creepy...

Josh in the kiss and cry

And again (he and Damon had three skaters in a row)

With Damon this time

He appears to have tidied himself up a little, haircut and less scraggly beard. He looks good. I miss him so much, you guys. :sad21:

Thanks for the detective work, Karne. He looks healthy - maybe he's put on a little weight, his face looks a little fuller to me. Glad he's been coaching and those young skaters are lucky to have him :)

I don't think it's creepy - but I'm the one who pulled this thread up from page 6 to share this career news. Thanks for the pictures, karne. He does look good - I hope that their skaters did as well as they could. Maybe we will see them again at Sectionals or even Nationals.

He might have gained a little bit of weight - but then again, I think his face was a bit fuller in the 2013-14 season than in 2014-2015. I will admit that there were times where I wondered if he was a tad too skinny - especially in the legs. But I don't think Joshua was ever as skinny as someone like Hanyu or even Lysacek.
