Satoko Miyahara

so i actually dreamt that Satoko won Skate Canada. I remember that I was so shocked and went on twitter where everyone kept telling me "yes yes she won" lol

watching her practice on youtube I can say that I really dislike her SP :( the choreography doesn't go at all with the music. I also preferred the previous dress but this one is still nice.
I really think it is fascinating and so weird how Lori can give such stunning work to Mao this year or Sui/Han last year and then give Satoko this or other skaters like Gracie or Han Yan such uninspired programs.

Anyways good luck to Satoko, I am confident she will do well (maybe even win just like in my dream!!!!!)

i agree, her jumps looked better today, i thought maybe she was trying not to push herself too much, even at LP practice yesterday she looked slower
btw, i dont mind her new SP dress :slink: i think its lovely  didnt like the color at her skirt though, also agree with Marin that it could be a little bit longer

Please Team Satoko, go for Tom or other choreo for the other programme next year. Lori's SP stands out as noticeably dull in comparison to the excellent FS. :( She does her best with it, but nothing happens! I don't see how the dress fits the music either. I'm really looking forward to her FS though!

its not stand out program but i dont hate it and she looks lovely as usual, and PCS is fine too, but she should just get rid of the 3F at SP, it cost her on many occasion :dbana:
and lol at the people acting like its the 1st time ever she got UR call :dumb:

I liked her and her costume:luv17: Sadly the stream died in the mid of the SP and when it came back I couldn't believe the score. Her face:sad21: I rewatched the program later and I think the judges were too harsh, for me the 3T wasn't UR and the edge call... at most it was !. I hope she does well tomorrow as always and finishes on the podium.

I agree with you but then other people would have given another UR for the lutz and downgraded the flip so :scratch2: The 3T was borderline, the 3F was UR but ! at most. Just get it out and replace it with a 3Lo, it's not worth it anymore.

On a different note, I can't help rolling my eyes at people saying the judges have constantly awarded her 70+ last season. Take a look at the OP of this thread and you'll see that she only got a 72 at 4CC and 70 at Worlds (where everyone else's scores were 70+). She got 65, 69 and 68 in the Grand Prix Season.

I was so disappointed with the marks she got in her SP. That was so heartbreaking to see. Anyways, I love her SP. It's fun and playful. Others are correct, her team should decide to replace the flip with a loop in her SP. Despite getting a 65+ marks, I still think she has a place in the podium. God bless Satoko and Satoko fans! :-)

We all loved her in the arena. Such a focused little thing. I could not believe the marks. It is like they expect her jumps to never improve and she is now pigeon holed into always receiving a deduction.

She was cute after ladies practice was done yesterday. The men started their practice and suddenly she came, still with her glittery head piece on and popped over to greet Shizuka Arakawa who was a few rows over, then she sat with her coach and mom? the woman looked just like her... and she intently watched the men practice, only turning away a few times to answer questions or give autographs.

Satoko's coaches are apparently very angry with the tech panel at Skate Canada invalidating Satoko's steps ie. zero points. Apparently her steps were reviewed by Japanese tech specialists from the outset and deemed OK, and the (ISU) tech panel at her previous competition (US INt FS Classic) did not see any problem either.

I still haven't found any definitive explanation for why it was invalidated at Skate Canada. Does anyone know?

According to the rules, the StepSq has to cover the whole ice, and they didn't think it did. Thus why it was not validated. I don't understand why this problem didn't arise before, and I hope, in some way, they can find a way to complain because it was very unfair. The Tech panel at Skate Chanada was full of BS, once again, but I'm pissed off on her and many skaters behalf.

That programme is gorgeous! I am glad she pulled up to podium, but sad that her stsq was invalidated. Seems odd that tech panels can differ in interpretation of the rules so much.

Now, she needs drastic measures to tackle the UR. Maybe she needs some specialist jump instruction elsewhere? Really go back to the beginning and deconstruct them.

I think you will find that her underrotation problems will miraculously disappear and other skaters like Kevin Reynolds will find theirs appearing again once they compete outside of Canada.
