2016 Skate Canada Men's LP

Come on people. This is early season and it's asking too much for perfection of the extremely difficult and high risk programs the top skaters plan, especially when they contain new high risk elements. They are getting feedback whatever the results so the programs and the performances will get better. Nobody peaks here and nobody wishes to peak now.

While fans argue over the protocol, skaters study it to find ways to improve. We just find different purposes with the same data.

Feels wrong that Hanyu gets lower PCS than Shoma, both fell once in the FS. I'd put Patrick's at 93, Hanyu's at 91.

PCS aren't really about the jumps.

Guys, it's Skate. Canada.
I think Hanyu would happily finish 12th here if it meant he could finally win worlds again. lmfao

It took Hanyu, Javier and Chan YEARS to get past 90 PCS, this is only Shoma's 2nd Senior's. And Hanyu and Patrick's programs, choreography and SS are much better than Shoma's.

It took almost a decade to Mao to get past 70 PCS, Medvedeva got that in her first senior year. Now THAT is a serious problem. Shoma gets low 90s for great programs (and he has some serious GREAT ss, speed and interpretation), Chan and Hanyu get low 90s for programs with lots of mistakes. And remember, different competitions.

Am I correct in thinking this is actually Kevin's 1st GP medal? That makes it even more impressive since he did it as a come back! I remember him having a couple close calls and ending in 4th place but I don't remember a medal!

It is his first GP medal, and his first GP competition since NHK in 2012. Very impressive, especially at the age of 26. Well done Kevin, great job!

If Hanyu's was a disaster then Chan's was a funeral. He got buried.

But since you're absolutely sure he'll get this much for a program like this everywhere and not just in Chanada, then it's no problem, right? Enjoy your party :)

I feel like Trump invaded this forum with all this rigged accusations

What exactly are you arguing that Hanyu deserved 4 point PCS OVER Chan? Which is the only way he would have won?

I don't care if he loses, he lost Boston fair and square. But it sucks big time to lose like this. And that's Skate Chanada.

Seriously, why does Hanyu keep coming here? He needs a change. France is lovely. And he won't have to suffer this nonsense.

I am content with the Standings here at Skate Canada.
Yuzu did a stinker of an SP (jumps, not performance, loved the performance) and was marked down. Then came back and did well in the LP. It's like Dejavu.
If this was Japan, perhaps Yuzu would have won by a slight margin. But he chose this competition for a reason. It's a good place to start. He gets silver here, gets mad, breaks records later.
I'm totally ok with that. Hopefully he'll be able to delay his peak till Worlds. Wishful thinking perhaps.

If he is angry and come back in gpf again ,I will not watch world.:noshake:

You say that like I'm a Chan fan and it's the world vs Hanyu :rolleye:

Yuzu rightly deserved a higher tech score in the FS but Chan wasn't 'a funeral'. Ultimately Hanyu was much much worse in SP and that mattered here.

Yuzu should go other places. Get Orser to travel Yuzu. After all Orser travels twice out of the country for Javier and only once for you.

Actually he skated in the Olympics and did very well there! In fact he should have won the free in the team event!

I'm against awarding the newly arrived juniors veteran PCS so soon, and their PCS should drop if they skate imperfectlly. EM's PCS should be lower than Mao's but she's skating extremely difficult elements and programs extremely cleanly, she's like Hanyu last season, flawless, so yes, she does deserve higher PCS. However, if she falls or if her programs become really empty except for jumps, her PCS should drop too, like they dropped Hanyu's and Patrick's here.

I don't think he has a choice. Nobody gets to pick their events. At least I don't think they do

Well he has won 4CC's in the past and has an Olympic Silver from Sochi (Team), so he has picked up hardware previously.
